Funny thing is that he’s just far away in the background. He played in the same octave as Szabo, but he isnt audible because of the sheer power of the bass bone lol
OMG you are the Thor of Trombone 👀 So many people don't understand the breath support and embouchure control it takes to keep it in control and not splatty. New Sub. (p/S I am secretly a Euphonium player that has an outdoors channel) 👍
Dude those pedal tones are so sick, could you make a tutorial video on how to get better tone and possibly add how to get that tone like maybe pedal embouchure it would help severely especially with students such as me going into 9th next year I would appreciate that I’m sure everyone else would aswell 👍
That’s a good idea! I do use a switch for low pedals, where I use all upper lip and anchor the bottom lip on the lowest part of the rim. I’m not sure how much you can see of that in this video. Experiment at home and tell me how you go!
How on earth do you get search clarity in the bottom register like that!? I can articulate pretty well down to around a bottom D but anything lower than that just sounds fluffy and messy.
Hi Oli, make sure to practice breath attacks in the low register, even down in the low pedals-slow half notes resetting between each one. You will probably find it very difficult at first. Once those notes improve, then try the same but articulated, with a lighter tongue. The key to clean attacks in the low range is great air and a light attack.

Sorry mate I can’t recommend a mouthpiece for you because I don’t know your playing! If you are young, it could be you’re on something too small. Try a test, play something like The Creation #26 three times through back to back. If you are chipping a lot of the high notes then chances are you are playing too big a mpc!
LUNGS.......huge....massive LUNGS. I was a Euphonium major and got to play bass trombone for a couple semesters of jazz lab in college. I seriously believe TUBA requires LESS lung capacity than bass trombone if you're trying to play stuff like in this video with power. I've never had an instrument that made me WANT to pass out from lack of air except bass trombone. The air to play a pedal Bb on Euph for a whole note will get you a strong quarter note on bass bone.
@@TheRandomWolf with a tuba you hit diminishing returns though. You are never going to melt someone's face with a tuba... So at some point more air on tuba doesn't get you a bigger result. The aggressive timbre of a bass trombone just keeps rewarding the harder you blow.

I have had some success putting my tongue far forward for the attack, sometimes actually between my lips. It's not very quick, but quite simple to do.
awesome
Neat playing. I hate bass trombone with no control oversplashing all over. But you have control and this is perfect.
Cheers thanks
What is the name of the first soundtrack in the first clip? Amazing pedals man, keep getting some! 💪🏼
Did you eat raw meat and enriched uranium for a week to produce that sound? That was so clean...and dirty...all at the same time!
😂😂😂😂
@@mikeszabo5631 Answer the question
Is there any chance I could somehow get the sheet music for Psychonauts 2?
Who’s on trumpet?
An instrument with Thayer valves! Is that a bass or F contrabass, it's hard to tell from a straight on angle.
Bach 50 bass trombone!
