Also if the deck is super abrasive then in general there shouldn't be a shiny side as the leather almost gets ripped apart, the other variations will have to do the job, like slow balls etc.

Push your thumb a bit more towards your pinky on the bottom side of the ball. Hope this makes it easier🙌🏻❤️

if you have been given the ball half way through an innings, how can you tell which side is shiny?
The side that's more shiny than the other side 🤣 If no side is shiny it means your team is doing a horrible job of protecting and working the ball.
