What Truth DIDN'T know was that the Portal to the Ark was on Earth until AFTER Regret's fleet arrived. In the Mission "Cairo station" in the cutsceen with Lord Hood, Cortana said *"Another wisper sir, near Io. We have probes on route"* This was Truth's fleet that discoveted Earth's location. Later in the Cutscene, Cortana said: *"SlipSpace ruptures, directly off our battle cluster. 15 Covenant Capital Ships holding position just outside the kill zone"* This was Regret's fleet looking for the portal, not knowing it was a human planet. Neither did he know Truth's fleet was waiting at Io. This is made clear in the underwater/submarine sections of the Mission Regret, Cotrana said: *"I've intercepted a secure transmission from Regret's carrier to something called, "High Charity". It seems to be a formal Apolagy to the Prophets of Truth & Mercy. Apparently, Regret jumped the gun when he attacked Earth. He's asking the other prophet's too "Forgive his premature arrival" arguing that "No human presence was fortold". That explains why there was so few ships in his fleet. But it's odd a prophet would have such bad intel about his enemies homeworld."* From this, we can clearly see that from the word "Premarure" that Regret wasn't supposed to be at Earth because Truth was already there at Jupiter's moon Io, and learned not of the Ark until After Regret attacked New Mombasa.
The Grunts were scary because... Well... There were literally more Grunts than there was ammo for the elites. The two spartans in the briefing terminal were Frederic-104 and Linda-058. They are both members of Master Chief's (John-117) squad. Linda was actually on the original Halo ring, in Cry, because she was critically wounded during Reach, and Fred was stuck on Reach until Chief picked him up on his way back from the Ring to Earth.
Apparently they kill 1/64 grunts to make an example. Because they are all in isolated pockets and are always afraid of the elites they wouldn’t rise up
Yep. They along with Kelly-087 and Will-043 are among the few Spartan IIs who survived Reach and the events of First Strike. Will, in theory, should be in that scene, but since he dies in Ghost of Onix and thus doesn't have a canon appearance to use so they left him out. Kelly wasn't there since Halsey kinda kidnapped her.
He did say in the terminal that if he was made arbiter it would pretty much be pointless to try and sway him due to his devotion. Honestly the prophets ordering Tartarus to kill Vadamee after retrieving the index was their biggest mistake as that is what created the first big powder keg which the Grave Mind provided the spark to ignite.
The irony of the enslavement of the Unggoy is that it ultimately saved the species from extinction. Their world was in collapse due to over population and global industrialization. Before the Unggoy Rebellion, the Unggoy were viewed as too incompetent to use weapons and were forced served as unarmed cannon fodder for the military. After the Rebellion and the thrashing they gave the Sangheli, they were given amnesty and were permitted to use weapons.
What freaks me out more is the Unggoy, they had achieved orbit around their own planet and the Brutes did but they beat themselves into submission and had just re-discovered the radio. So I'm just kind of imagining a Grunt in a labcoat trying to figure out to achieve orbit.

It conjures up a pretty goofy image in my mind. 😅 Although granted, post Halo 5's release we've started seeing the Grunts come into their own with the introduction of Yapyap the Destroyer in Halo Wars 2, Grunts in specialized combat roles, and the addition of Grunt Goblins to their arsenal (some of my favorite enemies to fight in Halo 5 IMO). Last I heard 343 may have them take a more central role in combat in future games, along with the Brutes returning in some capacity (since the majority of Elites have now left the remnants of the Covenant and are hence Humanity's allies). I personally think it'd be cool to see mixed ranks of Grunts, Brutes, and Prometheans & Sentinels in Infinite, since we will be fighting the Created for at least the start of the game I'm guessing.

I love this honest to god clean slate reaction to the history and lore of the Halo universe. I wish we had these info dumps on our original playthroughs, would have made what was happening so much more impactful. But this, this will do nicely, keep up the great content.
I love how at the end of like EVERY terminal entry you're just like "OMG I NEVER KNEW...IT ALL MAKES SENSE!" Also...the elite in the first few entries...the one that ONI couldn't predict...Thel Vatemine I think was his name. He was the Arbiter you play as in Halo 2. For most people who played the OG Halo games (1-3 and Reach), he's the Arbiter. The ONE arbiter we all know. Over time we learn of previous ones like Ripa 'Moramee, the Arbiter in Halo Wars...as well as the ones in the anime you watched.
It's insane that just by you as Chief blowing up the Halo ring set a huge cascade of events in the aftermath. Thel Vadam'ee becoming the Arbiter and the Great Schism, Covenant Civil War that saw the Sangheili ally themselves with humanity to stop the Prophets and their Brute led army. Also insane the San'Shyuum (prophets) were allies of ancient humanity during the wars against the Flood and Forerunners until the Forerunners threatened the San'Shyuum's homeworld with destruction so they recalled their alliance, leaving ancient humanity alone.

Oh my god, getting to re-experience the thrill of this, with so much more context added, to feel it with someone experiencing it a new. WOW, the thrill I got out of this story the first time around. Can't wait for Halo 3 as well

Having literally grown up playing Halo up until 4, and not having seen the Halo 2 terminals these have brought so much more information into the fold, reqlly enjoying going on this great journey with you, in a way its like experiencing it all over again as so many of us reacted in the same manner as you to the Halo franchise ❤

Glad you’re doing ODST first. It give extra context to Halo 3 while also allowing you to spend more time on Earth. Don’t forget to watch the audio logs after ODST because they give the back story behind the game.
I just love how much you embraced halo as a whole! I started with the og ps, moved to ps2, then after visiting family i played halo for the first time. From then on halo was my favorite franchise and is the sole reason i have every xbox. Cant wait to see the rest of your journey, ill be watching!
When the Prophet of Regret found Earth, he didn’t know that it was the capital and home world of humanity (which made it the most heavily defended). So he sent a small fleet of 2 CAS assault carriers and 13 CCS battle cruisers to find the portal on Earth, which started Halo 2.

Sadie's story on Halo 3 ODST is awesome, If you love the fact she survived the New Mombassa streets crawled with covies in her way to save her father & Virgil. As 117, Alpha team and (ODST strike), Moving on the Covenant invasión was difficult, yet Sadie manage to almost Reach ONI data building.
Whats cool about the hunters is, they're not just colonies of worms in armor, they're a colony of worms in *two* armors. When you fight two hunters at once thats one colony split into two.
That’s right the elite you play as in halo 2 the new arbiter is the one that destroyed reach and the one who was in command of the fleet that attacked you in halo 1 and yes the hunters are a bunch of little worms
I've always loved the terminals of h2a. It gives so much more info on Thel Vadamee. Meaning that when you play as him in halo 2,ir adds a needed layer of depth
when he learned what hunters really are. nice and to add to the tragedy of the unggoy, dear Dee... they are actually more similar to child soldiers, than just slaves. they are fast breeders and as soon as an unggoy is ready to serve, they are forced into combat.
Another fact, the Covenant found Earth by accident, they had no idea it was the home-world of the humans. It is why in halo 2 it is mentioned in the beginning of the game that strangely the fleet attacking earth is far smaller then the fleet that attacked reach. This is because they did not expect to find any humans, they had no idea they where jumping right on top of a heavily defended human capital world. So in Halo two, when earth is attacked at the beginning of the game, they are not trying to actually attack earth, they are there looking for the portal to a holy artifact and did not expect to find any humans. When go down to the surface of earth and are in a pelican and hear the soldiers and cortana talking about regret being said over and over again, it's because the prophet of regret ironically regret jumping into a system in search of a holy artifact not knowing it was the human home-world.
Tbh I never knew how interesting the grunts were. I want to know more about them. Imagine if the storyline had to do with grunts fighting back and teaming up with the humans to take down the elites!?
Keep up the awesome videos! That first Halo 2 gameplay video was amazing. Loved your reactions to the cutscenes, recurring characters, and playing as the arbiter. I think it's odd that you were surprised when they said the Covenant found Earth, when in the first few levels of Halo 2, you actually played above or on Earth. Unless this reaction was streamed before you played the game, I think that's a detail that was really hard to overlook when you played Halo 2. Either way though, I love your reactions and still can't wait to see more!

I'm actually glad I was here for this stream you ended quite fast (you did play ALOT the 2nd halo 2 stream) and this was a pleasant surprise at the end... "next week" is almost here and im ready for the atmosphere of halo 3 odst where you can take it slow and frankly I'd play it on heroic makes the game feel more like the message it's trying to get across.. hope you have fun on it I'll try to be there.
The Spartans you see at the end are Spartan 2's and Master Chief's best friends Fred and Linda. Fred is the best cqc fighter and Linda is the best sharpshooter in the military. Also in Blue Team who was missing along with John (Master Chief) here is Kelly, who is the fastest and most agile. Master Chief's known quality is his luck. All 4 of them make up Blue Team with Fred as the commanding officer.
In halo, all Terminals for halo 1,2 and 3 have cut scenes that were in the original games before remastery. I can only guess that the reason for the removal is for reducing time spent watching cut scenes and extend the actual game play.
9:00 That AI was formerly a Forerunner AI, one that detested the Forerunners and denounced them. After he was recovered by the covenant, they learned the truth about the rings, but to avoid that knowledge getting out, they corrupted him, gutting him of any semblance of the former Forerunner AI. Additionally both Chaka (343) and that AI were once Ancient Humans, allies in fact, but were turned into AIs as a sick punishment by the forerunners.
*What a shame that all these terminals are missing invaluable seconds at the end because this channel cut them, missing a lot of scenes and important details... watch them in a better channel on your own when you feel in the mood dude.* Flood form at the end of the monitor dialogue, sad grunt taking the gun from the arbiter. and many other things
This! Definitely this @ Dee Bee Geek! Check out the end of each terminal where the last bit of visuals aren't cut off because there's often a punchline or subtle message that isn't conveyed through audio alone in them.
But if you actually activate the terminals in-game in halo: ce and halo 2 you actually get achievements which are usually rare achievements and a diamond pops up on your screen
The structure at 15:22 is the strongest A.I in the halo history the mendicant bias that thing can take on the whole covenant by itself and the covenant fuckn uses it as a god
I don't know if you will be able to read this, but here are some stuff about the terminals that have some relation to the books or that you may have missed: * Spartan 006 fought against the arbiter (vadamee) really early in the war, while vadamee is certainly one of, if not the best and strongest elite in the entire covenant army, even he was struggling in a 1v1 fight against a spartan, in the books, he was clealry struggling, and started to feel tired during the battle, however what creeped him out the most was the lack of any sound or reaction from his oponent, he believed that whatever inhabitated that armor with a helmet that hides so cowardly the face could have no soul at all, and could only be a machine or... a demon, that's where the demon name comes, all spartans are refered as demons (And ODSTs, who are the second highest rank of a soldier before spartans are called imps) for their unnatural and creepy lack of "humanity" for lack of a better termn, self preservation and overall comitment to their missions (of course even among the demons there was ONE that was really well known haha) * As the terminals say, Arbiter was a really important person, he was basically the equal to chief for the covenant, called by some members of the unsc as "The Destroyer" he was the unbeatable soldier that the covenant had * One small error in the cutscene show elites not wearing gasmasks while recruiting the grunts, despite the fact that the grunts only breath methane as the atmosphere in their planet is mostly made out of it. * The last 2 clips are literally moments before the start of halo 2, the prophet of regret went for the portal to the ark but he wasn't expecting that the portal was at the main planet of humanity, that is why his invasion fleet was 50 times smaller than the one that arbiter commanded to destroy Reach. * Fred and Linda were in reach, chief rescued them as well as other soldiers and Dr. Halsey, the mission they are reporting as well as their rescue and the "classified" way Johnson escaped the ring in Halo CE are described in a book called Halo: First Strike, you should react to it as it takes place after Halo CE and before Halo 2.

The portal is on earth because the forerunners left it there because we were supposed to evolve to take the mantle of responsibility, aka become gods, thats why 343 guilty spark calls us “reclaimer” we’re supposed to reclaim our god hood again when the rings wiped us out 100s of thousands of years ago.
sancturillore yeah the forerunners want us to take their responsibility to use the rings, specifically the librarian because she knew from all the forerunners brilliance they were ignorant to see the ancient humans tried to stop the flood when they attacked forerunner than the didact killed and composed them into his army, that being said she knew the humans were more cautious. Also the primordials didn’t pass the forerunners so they moved the responsibility to humans.
It’s a huge heads up, but try to remember after Halo 4 to watch Spartan Ops. Sadly it didn’t end up tying into Halo 5 (in fact it felt like 5 totally swept its events away and pretended they didn’t happen), but it’s really well-done, has likable characters, an interesting story, nice visuals, and I think you’ll like it. It would be ideal to watch it between H4 & H5 but since 5 didn’t honor it, you could technically wait due to the fact that it didn’t end up being nearly as relevant to 5’s plot as one would have expected.
At this point, you're not just a "playstation guy" anymore, but you're a full blown Halo fan like us

Having literally grown up playing Halo up until 4, and not having seen the Halo 2 terminals these have brought so much more information into the fold, reqlly enjoying going on this great journey with you, in a way its like experiencing it all over again as so many of us reacted in the same manner as you to the Halo franchise ❤

*SPOILER* I love how Locke recommends killing the Arbiter, only to be gladly fighting side by side with him come Halo 5.
I mean, that is after the prophets played themselves and turned their most skilled commander into an enemy. Turned out killing him wasn't needed when the Covenant are experts at screwing themselves over.

Glad you’re doing ODST first. It give extra context to Halo 3 while also allowing you to spend more time on Earth. Don’t forget to watch the audio logs after ODST because they give the back story behind the game.

I just love how much you embraced halo as a whole! I started with the og ps, moved to ps2, then after visiting family i played halo for the first time. From then on halo was my favorite franchise and is the sole reason i have every xbox. Cant wait to see the rest of your journey, ill be watching!
When the Prophet of Regret found Earth, he didn’t know that it was the capital and home world of humanity (which made it the most heavily defended). So he sent a small fleet of 2 CAS assault carriers and 13 CCS battle cruisers to find the portal on Earth, which started Halo 2.

Sadie's story on Halo 3 ODST is awesome, If you love the fact she survived the New Mombassa streets crawled with covies in her way to save her father & Virgil.
As 117, Alpha team and (ODST strike), Moving on the Covenant invasión was difficult, yet Sadie manage to almost Reach ONI data building.
Good thing Thel Vadam became the Arbiter and helped Master Chief
Whats cool about the hunters is, they're not just colonies of worms in armor, they're a colony of worms in *two* armors. When you fight two hunters at once thats one colony split into two.

I've always loved the terminals of h2a. It gives so much more info on Thel Vadamee. Meaning that when you play as him in halo 2,ir adds a needed layer of depth

and to add to the tragedy of the unggoy, dear Dee... they are actually more similar to child soldiers, than just slaves. they are fast breeders and as soon as an unggoy is ready to serve, they are forced into combat.

Another fact, the Covenant found Earth by accident, they had no idea it was the home-world of the humans. It is why in halo 2 it is mentioned in the beginning of the game that strangely the fleet attacking earth is far smaller then the fleet that attacked reach. This is because they did not expect to find any humans, they had no idea they where jumping right on top of a heavily defended human capital world. So in Halo two, when earth is attacked at the beginning of the game, they are not trying to actually attack earth, they are there looking for the portal to a holy artifact and did not expect to find any humans. When go down to the surface of earth and are in a pelican and hear the soldiers and cortana talking about regret being said over and over again, it's because the prophet of regret ironically regret jumping into a system in search of a holy artifact not knowing it was the human home-world.
That ending always gets me. They found earth.

I think it's odd that you were surprised when they said the Covenant found Earth, when in the first few levels of Halo 2, you actually played above or on Earth. Unless this reaction was streamed before you played the game, I think that's a detail that was really hard to overlook when you played Halo 2. Either way though, I love your reactions and still can't wait to see more!

thel is the arbiter you play in halo 2 ;P and he is awesome
The Spartans you see at the end are Spartan 2's and Master Chief's best friends Fred and Linda. Fred is the best cqc fighter and Linda is the best sharpshooter in the military. Also in Blue Team who was missing along with John (Master Chief) here is Kelly, who is the fastest and most agile. Master Chief's known quality is his luck. All 4 of them make up Blue Team with Fred as the commanding officer.
In halo, all Terminals for halo 1,2 and 3 have cut scenes that were in the original games before remastery. I can only guess that the reason for the removal is for reducing time spent watching cut scenes and extend the actual game play.
9:00 That AI was formerly a Forerunner AI, one that detested the Forerunners and denounced them. After he was recovered by the covenant, they learned the truth about the rings, but to avoid that knowledge getting out, they corrupted him, gutting him of any semblance of the former Forerunner AI. Additionally both Chaka (343) and that AI were once Ancient Humans, allies in fact, but were turned into AIs as a sick punishment by the forerunners.
I though Chakas was actually saved by being turned into an AI as he got injured and Bornestellar I believe was the one to save him

This! Definitely this @ Dee Bee Geek! Check out the end of each terminal where the last bit of visuals aren't cut off because there's often a punchline or subtle message that isn't conveyed through audio alone in them.
Fortunately, with the new update, we don't need Halo Channel to watch the terminals anymore (Halo 4 still needs that treatment)

I don't know if you will be able to read this, but here are some stuff about the terminals that have some relation to the books or that you may have missed:
* Spartan 006 fought against the arbiter (vadamee) really early in the war, while vadamee is certainly one of, if not the best and strongest elite in the entire covenant army, even he was struggling in a 1v1 fight against a spartan, in the books, he was clealry struggling, and started to feel tired during the battle, however what creeped him out the most was the lack of any sound or reaction from his oponent, he believed that whatever inhabitated that armor with a helmet that hides so cowardly the face could have no soul at all, and could only be a machine or... a demon, that's where the demon name comes, all spartans are refered as demons (And ODSTs, who are the second highest rank of a soldier before spartans are called imps) for their unnatural and creepy lack of "humanity" for lack of a better termn, self preservation and overall comitment to their missions (of course even among the demons there was ONE that was really well known haha)
* As the terminals say, Arbiter was a really important person, he was basically the equal to chief for the covenant, called by some members of the unsc as "The Destroyer" he was the unbeatable soldier that the covenant had
* One small error in the cutscene show elites not wearing gasmasks while recruiting the grunts, despite the fact that the grunts only breath methane as the atmosphere in their planet is mostly made out of it.
* The last 2 clips are literally moments before the start of halo 2, the prophet of regret went for the portal to the ark but he wasn't expecting that the portal was at the main planet of humanity, that is why his invasion fleet was 50 times smaller than the one that arbiter commanded to destroy Reach.
* Fred and Linda were in reach, chief rescued them as well as other soldiers and Dr. Halsey, the mission they are reporting as well as their rescue and the "classified" way Johnson escaped the ring in Halo CE are described in a book called Halo: First Strike, you should react to it as it takes place after Halo CE and before Halo 2.

sancturillore yeah the forerunners want us to take their responsibility to use the rings, specifically the librarian because she knew from all the forerunners brilliance they were ignorant to see the ancient humans tried to stop the flood when they attacked forerunner than the didact killed and composed them into his army, that being said she knew the humans were more cautious.
Also the primordials didn’t pass the forerunners so they moved the responsibility to humans.
It’s a huge heads up, but try to remember after Halo 4 to watch Spartan Ops. Sadly it didn’t end up tying into Halo 5 (in fact it felt like 5 totally swept its events away and pretended they didn’t happen), but it’s really well-done, has likable characters, an interesting story, nice visuals, and I think you’ll like it. It would be ideal to watch it between H4 & H5 but since 5 didn’t honor it, you could technically wait due to the fact that it didn’t end up being nearly as relevant to 5’s plot as one would have expected.
