    PRIOR to departing from an uncontrolled airport you can call via a Remote Communications Outlet (RCO) or Ground Communications Outlet (GCO) or call 1-800-WX-BRIEF. It's the same for an IFR or VFR flight. If you are flying into the outter ring you can pick up flight following for the squawk code in order to enter. Living here in Ocean City, MD we deal with the POTUS TFR on a regular basis and when we fly home to visit family we have the Wilmington, DE TFR to deal with. So much fun. I'm not a CFI and I didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn ;)

      Flying out of KMQS we just call up philly approach on the phone and they give us the squawk to take off with. they normally tell us to just start flying toward our destination and get them on the radio ASAP. We normally have to get over 1000ft before we can get good contact with them.

    Did you notice the military portable radar next to the tower? I flew the same day and took off before you before the tower opened. If you call SoCal they will give you a squawk code. You get a departure window to take off also. Don't forget to close the vfr flight plan...flight services will call you if you don't (don't ask how I know). Keep up the great videos.

    Min 3:57 I love how you guys jump quickly to say: "It's a wake", like in less than half a second after it happen. It translated to: Don't worry Poppins, its normal. hahaha..

    Uncontrolled, Call the FSS phone, Call ATCenter Directly on Freq if you're able. or Call a listed Clearance Delivery #. Get your craft, and they will advise instructions for departure, and your frequency . Will give you a clearance an cancel time. I usually call while holding short so they don't have to wait, or I don't miss the window.

    a prez TFR is definitely one you don't want to get wrong!
    1:50 I recognize the "chop edit" style, not all of us talk good :)
    3:57 what was the plane that caused the turbulence? small jet?
    10:43 wow, look at that pretty terrain.
    13:35 what was the problem with the leg position? didn't seem to be near rudder pedals or anything.
    15:10 "no joy". I've never actually heard that.

      i dont remember what the plane was. some kind of bizjet. There was no problem with it just reminding her to make sure she consciously kept her legs in the landing position so they woulnt interfere with yoke. No Joy is not a standard phrase and IMO shouldnt be used. Its probably a good thing you havent heard it. It kind of annoys me. Haha

      Totally know that "no joy" is on the verboten list, I'd just never heard it (personally or in a vid). Though I haven't heard "fish finder" either.

    You can open vfr flight plans with FSS so you could just call the number and open it just like an ifr clearance

    Awesome video. Now I have to fly through your videos since I found out today that I have a busted cylinder on my warrior. Compression was 40% and plane was not running well during taxi and run up. Obviously I cancelled the flight.

      @@SoCalFlyingMonkey theyre an awesome light sport pretty quick too... up to 77 liters of fuel total if you include wing tanks, cruise of 100mph, and really comfortable .. only downside is the bibble canopy can be hell in the fl sun until you have the fan running

    The Sling TSi is great, use the build-assist program in Torrance to build one without investing thousands of hours of time yourself.

    I'm not a CFI but I would assume you would call the number that you would use to get an IFR clearance and get the squawk code there from an uncontrolled airport.

      After takeoff, you radio the controlling center and request flight following. They'll assign your squawk code.

      Lol that’s part of aviation, there’s always some airspace on your route that’s closed for some reason that’s part of the adventure
