To be honest, the round that surprised me the most was the 9mm. Did a lot of damage relative to its calibre. Also goes to show how deadly the .50 cal round is, even in this day and age.

@@kennyc388 That's what made the .50 cal so dangerous, high destructive power and rate of fire. For all the hoopla about the 20mm and 30mm cannons that the later German fighters had, their low muzzle velocity and rate of fire just wasn't effective in a lot of combat situations. It is crazy to think that in 2021 it will have been in service 100 years!
Because that isn't stone, it is concrete.

Accuracy? I'd talk about it when he backs up a bit, one football field length does not denote accuracy with a scoped 50 cal, his pistol accuracy was fine, good even but not something that a range qualified U. S. Marine hasn't already done. Back that 50 cal up to 500 meters with peep sights and hit that thing then I do believe I'd talk about his marksmanship.

FYI the foam centre is used to make the ball lighter while keeping the outer size the same, strange to see it done at this weight tbh and the lack of rebar on the inside could also be a good indicator of a poorly made stone.
The wooden sticks in the foam are used to keep the foam in place while pouring the concrete.
If you want to try and shoot a stone made to the same specs as those in strongman competitions you could check out slater stones, they make decent stones (or just buy one of their molds and make your own as you please.

The foam ball is used to make the atlas stone lighter. This is likely a 22 inch diameter Slater stone which if all concrete will be about 400 lbs. So whoever made it wanted a lighter stone to practice with. The bamboo shoots are likely to hold the foam ball in place while pouring the concrete around it. Great video!!

He has ear plugs in. It sucks to shoot rifles with big earmuffs on, they don't let you get a good cheek weld.

Have owned once since they first came out. Actually while the recoil is certainly robust, and shooting with two hands is the preferred technique, I and my friends have fired it one handed with nothing terrible happening.

Fun video. Foam is there to make it lighter and gives it some resilience when dropped.
It probably absorbs shock and makes it less brittle in the center and probably makes making them easier.

@@kl657 full auto weapons are not illegal in the United States, they are just difficult to get and extremely expensive. Ak47s are also made in semi auto configurations which as long as you can legally buy are fairly inexpensive

Yeah those steel cores don't really deform. That's the armor piercing part. Pretty interesting though!

@Thomas Mullenix it's the steel core in an armor piercing round. They don't really deform. If you watch demolition ranch videos or really any where an ap 50bmg round is fired and recovered, the steel core is almost always intact

Oh, you didn't really need to say you were having fun making that video, I think we could guess with the toddler giggle that we men get when we get to makes things go smash! Nicely done. I was quite surprised however, by the 5.56 round from the AR. Damn, that just took a nice chunk out compared to the AK, which I thought would have done more damage. Please shoot the next atlas stone with the AK first so we can see what actual damage it did do as it was hard to see since it was being done in the same spot (which nice grouping btw) which made it hard to see. First vid I have watched of yours, subscribed as it was just a nice relaxing video. I hope most of your ones are like that.
