Felix De La Cruz I loved every second of it. I was just so happy because I knew what it was leading to and I was waiting the whole season to see his face get scarred
I heard while filming Ben Barnes (Russo) was so convincing in his screaming Jon Bernthal (Punisher) wasn't sure if he was acting or if he was actually getting hurt and I think Jon even stopped mid-scene at one point and asked Ben if he was okay. Props to both actors they sold this scene.
ben55point55 I want to live on the Mainland. 83 cents is cheap here considering fries at mickeyDs can cost around $1.50 - for one, and a regular (not large). 👿
This and Daredevil are easily the best Netflix Marvel shows, it’s really difficult to decide between this and Daredevil, but I think I might give the edge to Punisher because as good as Daredevil is, I think it relies on other great characters like in season 1 it was Kingpin, and season 2 it was Punisher and Elektra, but Punisher was the best part about his own series. I still love them both tho
Argument can be made, its two of the best properties done in the MCU. For me, Punisher is my favorite MCU character hands down. Such a shame that they are all done. Im hoping we can get them to come back one day. Half of the greatest villains in MCU come from Netflix shows. Kingpin, Kilgrave and Cottonmouth are in my Top 10 MCU villains ever. Billy Russo S1 would be in there, but S2 Russo was a tiny step down, but still great.
@@AvEnGeD7X238 dont get me wrong I really liked Daredevil but in season 2 he was such a hypocrite. He calls the police and has Frank arrested but Elektra kills an unarmed man right in front of Matt and she gets to walk away free. Now why doesn't she have to face the same justice as Frank ? Stick is another example. Why is it up to Matt Murdock to decide who has to face justice and who gets to walk away and be free ? Again I love Daredevil it was a great show but I liked The Punisher better.
The Punisher and his ultimate nemesis Jigsaw are born in the same place. So fitting. So perfect. Also, Billy Russo is done a lot better on here than he was in the comics. I wouldn't be surprised if they changed his comic book origin to be more like the show's the way they did with Mr. Freeze back in the day.
@@Specter017 No, actually I'm not. There's a flashback of the story of his conception at the carnival thing, which then leads to a scene where Ben Barnes is at home and his infant son is delivered to him.
Russo has such a high level of denial. He got involved in criminal activity, in illegal military activity, he helped in getting his friend's family killed, yet complains that he takes what's happening personally. He sees himself as a victim.
I love the poetry that derives from the fight being at the carousel, since it establishes Punisher and Jigsaw (if you look up Billy Russo, you'll see that he is in fact Jigsaw, who is the Punisher's arch enemy) were created at the same place.
When they first introduced Billy Russo, I immediately thought, "Oh shit, they're going to make him Jigsaw by the end of this..." and have been waiting for it from the beginning.
Yea you are right billy does turn into jigsaw. He really franks “joker” type character frank could never really kill billy/jigsaw after this moment not for a while
Man Ben Barnes really sounded like he was in complete and total agony when Frank drug his face across the glass. Great acting in that scene i think!!!! Also it may be just me but i feel like his shredded face kinda resembles the shape of a jigsaw right before the end there.
This last episode is so epic. Bully Russo turning into Jigsaw is so satisfying and hard to watch. This season was incredible. But now that it's over you guys should start watching The Gifted
I would *LOVE* for Season 2 to follow/loosely follow Greg Rucka's Punisher-run. Season 1 ending with Frank having a _clean slate_ is the perfect setup for the first half of season 2 being dedicated to telling the Rachel Cole storyline. One couldn't ask for a better setup, IMO. Seeing as how Netflix is only going to get one more season of *_The Punisher_* before Disney pulls all Marvel related stuff for their own streaming service, they should go out with a bang.
I think the biker/cartel thing at the beginning was immediately after DD Season 2 finished as Frank went through the remains of those 3 gangs (During Luke Cage and potentially Iron Fist). Then he became Pete (before or during Iron Fist depending how long it took to track all the guys down) and grew his beard and went into demolition and we pick up after Defenders.
The Punisher has never been one of my favorite characters..I haven't read a lot of his stuff and when I have ,the character has always been too cold and distant to really connect with for me until Bernthals portrayal ..he gives that character such humanity yet shows how much of a monster he can be ..I never thought a Punisher show would be one of ,of not my favorite of these Marvel Netflix Shows but it is (and I say this as someone who has enjoyed all of these shows to varying degrees). PS: I have been meaning to say this for awhile but I keep forgetting ..since Eric and Aaron love fight choreography so much ..I suggest they watch "Into The Badlands "for the channel ..it's a solid fun show but the fight choreography is the best I have seen on TV.
Taimur Muggo I knew this show would be great, Punisher has always been the character who embodies the cowboy lone bad ass gun man who strolls into a corrupt town to fight corruption, not as some pacifist but someone who evil doers fear because they know Castle is someone not to F with. So when i saw they were making the show and who the choice as lead actor and show runner i immediately knew it was going to be better than the rest of Netflix shows.
I wouldn't place Billy Russo among my top MCU antagonists. But this is easily one of the top 3 final showdowns. And yes Billy Russo is Jigsaw in the comics. He has a little bit of a different backstory but I think it was a good choice to make him Frank's best friend. And btw, when filming the scene where Frank drags Billy's face in the glass, Billys actor's screams where so real that Jon Bernthal stopped because he thought he was hurting him for real.
I know that this is just a television show, but could you even begin to imagine hearing in the news, or being the person who has to call ALL THE LOVED ONES OF THESE RED SHIRTS!? Like, "Breaking News: Thirty members of both the FBI and Homeland Security were killed after attempting to apprehend a suspect." The body count on this show is unimaginable. Billy Russo right in this episode alone kills, what I am counting as ten people as he escapes his offices. The whole of the body count in this series is astronomical... which it should mind you... but this show tries to gear itself around a pseudo-realism... and I am just in a state of shock when I try and imagine this happening in real life.
Loved your Punisher reactions; the three of you were the perfect crew for it. So sad the season's over but I hope you do Jessica Jones S2 when it comes out in March.
I had never seen a piece of Punisher media before this and guessed Billy would become Jigsaw and his organization his hired guns by the 4th episode. Was pleasantly surprised when I saw this episode.
i think the Billy and the family at the "painted ponies" flash back was just one of the times they hung out, before the shit that happened in Afghanistan. it always seemed like the day Frank's family got killed was like the morning after he got back home, because when he woke up his wife said she let him sleep in and they talked about "plenty of mornings now that you're back". also it seemed like Billy stayed while Frank left and they hadn't seen each other since Billy stopped Frank from killing Agent Orange.
As one war ends for The Punisher, another will begin. I believe that is what purpose Frank believes he has right now, to 'punish' those who think they are untouchable. That is until they meet The Punisher.
in the comics there was a character called Billy Russo, otherwise known as 'jigsaw' who had a mangled face when the punisher smashed his face through a plane of glass
I'll admit I was never a huge Punisher fan. In a world with Norse Gods, Talking Tree People, and cosmic beings that can all wipe out planets just by looking at them, the Punisher sticks out like a sore thumb since his power is... Guns. This show however, holy shit. This was so good and I DEMAND more seasons right now!
No, Billy wasn't there that day in the park. In the flashback, Maria has different clothes. When she and the kids die she has her blue and white dress, with Billy she has a red jacket I think so diff days, probs before Cerberus; just Frank recalling how Bill was family.
Yeah that's definitely Jigsaw. Billy Russo is his name in the comics. They changed his story a bit to make him a bit more personal for Frank which was pretty cool in my opinion, but he became Jigsaw basically the same way that he does in the comics which was fucking awesome. I can not wait until the next season to see them scars if that's where they go with it at least. Still its gonna be great. In the end, he didn't choose vengeance....he chose punishment
Opposite of the red hood
Pretty much!
Man, it always hurts me seeing that scene of Frank dragging Billy’s face through the glass. That was brutal but badass at the same time.
Felix De La Cruz I loved every second of it. I was just so happy because I knew what it was leading to and I was waiting the whole season to see his face get scarred
The CVR123 yeah with the amount they talked about his "pretty face" I knew it would get messed up eventually
