The soundtrack of Deus Ex is perfect for the enviroments. It doesn't feel like music that's "added" to the level like for example Megaman, but it feels like the soundtrack is coming out or is "made by" the enviroment
>>it feels like the soundtrack is coming out or is "made by" the enviroment That's an interesting observation; I never thought this way about soundtracks, but this is completely true in Deus Ex : )
It does sort of provoke the idea of tomorrow being as bad as yesterday. What it means is that they're so advanced it makes tomorrow already look technologically worse compared to them. :) But I'm sure you got that.
maybe they are so advanced that they even know what are the new technologies "emerging" in the near future, because its them who will offer it to the public pricely ;)
This is probably my favourite track in the OST. It captures the feeling of what you're walking into perfectly - a high-powered corporate setting that really squeezes its employees, with something (even more) sinister very clearly bubbling under that relatively urbane surface.
I think it’s a good theme because at this point in the game your pretty well upgraded and have the dragons tooth sword so this is the first area that really seems like a breeze, your cutting through high tech corporate security that would dissuade most like it’s paper and at this point it doesn’t even phase you
I remember going into the versalife lobby the first time, thinking "Okay, stealth time!" I then quietly assassinated the security guard in front of the elevator with my stealth pistol... only to take two steps out and realize the lobby was a public area and nobody there was hostile. Whoops.
I used to listen to this music (and the OST in general) and fantasize about a life/job in tech ten years ago. Now I have an office and I work in software engineering with complex algorithms, listening to this as I code for work :). The only way is up, never forget that.
