    Here are 2 fun facts:
    This video was recommended by Warren Spector himself! I got the heads up by a subscriber whose comment is now sadly deleted (I had pinned it so I'm quite sure).

    The mixing was done in real time using my virtual console and not through video editing. Basically sat through this for 1+ hour because it felt good "DJing" Deus Ex tracks.

      The part where JC approaches Alex in Hong Kong with "I know who you are...DAEDELUS" and Alex is just like "what? who?" says so much about how the writers knew exactly what they were doing. In any other game that would've been the twist, and Alex would've been your sidekick--here, there was something much more.

    Thanks for uploading this, memories of a difficult young life, made so much better by dark long nights playing this, the escapism to this story stays with me always, going to those pubs and clubs in those worlds, trying to be a good guy, taking too much zyme (literally, my screen resolution went all funny even after reloading it still was all zoomed in and messed up. Had to load an earlier save. Don't do pretend drugs kids! But yes what a game, what a world, what a story.
    Nothing like it will be made for the foreseeable. A different time when small studios could forge the vision of a very few writers and producers. Magic times.

  • @SerMattzio
    @SerMattzio 6 ปีที่แล้ว +199

    Super nerdy comment here, but I like the slightly sinister "chanting" bit at the start of the UNATCO track. It reminds me of Gregorian monks; not only does it sound authoritative, it's like a subtle hint embedded in the song itself that UNATCO has ties to an ancient conspiracy.
    Given they explicitly say that Manderley was involved in wiping out the Knights Templar, I wonder if this is actually a deliberate nod from the devs.
    (Shame the modern games are nowhere near as smart...)

    • @KooYu
      @KooYu  6 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      I never thought of it this way. Though there is reason in your thinking, I personally thought of it not as a hint that points to some ties to a cospiracy, but giving a feel that there is more to the tune (and the location) that cannot be interpreted the first time you hear it, but gets quite obvious later in the game. Which now that I'm reading it, it's more or less the same thing you said :P
      This feeling gets more intensified (imo) in the GOTY soundtrack, which is more "punchy" and has more authority. I like the original better, however.

    Ah. 2022 and I still come back here to listen to these sounds. I think this still remains the most interesting games I've played till date. Will definitely be remembered as one of the greatest in the history books. Well done. Thanks again for uploading this KooYu.

    Theses soundtracks are one of the many reasons why Deus Ex 1 is a great game. The UNATCO song was such an amazing surprise back then.

    I remember playing Deus Ex back in 2001, on my trusty Pentium 200MMX with 64 mb RAM and RivaTNT2(16mb). The framerate was awful, barely playable. but I still managed to get to Hong Kong... And got lost in all those canals and streets :)
