I think a common problem amongst many language learning apps is that because many of them aren’t strictly “lessons” a lot of grammar nuance can be missed like was touched on in this video. It feels like a lot of the language learning apps are better as review/study apps once you’ve understood some of the grammar at play and the general sentence structures.
Totally agreed. Grammar is probably the hardest part of learning Japanese in my opinion. Apps can make it easier but you need to be selective about the apps and definitely not rely on them in the absence of any other learning methods and/or materials. I love Bunpro as a reference app and to get a general understanding but don’t really use it for the SRS feature as it didn’t really work for me. Nothing beats full on immersion and regular practice.
Yeah, this is one of the reasons I recommend Kitsun. I just don't find the time making cards to be of any use at all - far rather import them from Jisho directly and just have it all work out of the box.
I really liked core 2000 with audio for anki. Very good for lots of simple vocabulary in sentences with audio. Helped me adjust my hearing to pay attention to Japanese sounds. I also never used anki to make my own cards, but then I also never mastered Japanese. I can just read and write to my friend, no motivation to take it further but it's cool to hear more phrases when listening to a song.
you can use yomichan to create new cards. just takes a few seconds for basic cards, half a minute for also including sentence translations, sound for sentences and a picture
kitsun sounds interesting. but i use lingq for reading, as it highlights the word i don't know and which i'm learning right now. (if you want it also has a built in SRS). And if i really want to learn a word i can import the word/sentence directly via yomichan.
Great video. I’m Japanese and I am learning English. I upload Japanese daily life with English and Japanese captions everyday. If you have time, watch it and have fun.

@@英語わかりません Agreed, I would also like to add that, not only is it really a pleasant experience to use, it’s also not just a Anki replacement, it’s way more than that, It has so many built in tools that just make it so convenient to use, Like Sub2Kitsun, which is a built in sentence miner that instantly makes a flash card with audio and a picture, akin to migaku, built in dictionaries, the very high quality decks, the Reader feature which is extremely useful for reading native content, and more, it’s just so damn convenient.

Bro, you've given a ton of detail on what apps to seek . Good work!
I agree with your comment about Anki.
Thank you so so much! That was a very helpful video, keep it up!!
This is exactly what I was looking for.
Finally the algorithm works man. I have been wondering where to start and tools to help, so this is video is great
Very useful. Thanks for sharing.💯
this video is super helpful! I am doing the anki cards now... but the time you take for making the cards... you could be revising or learning more imo

Wanikani and kitsunIO is almost a must. I wouldn't bother with anki, it's boring as shit.
Can you tell me how kitsun is better? Thank you for your time!

Anki sucks and Wanikani is good? What alternate dimension have I stumbled into?
You fell through the backrooms homie you gotta run... Shit so do I.
Bunpro and Anki with that doesn’t suck sometimes it overlaps with WaniKani I am using a 2k vocab
