Warner Bros. has announced today a new Mortal Kombat developed by Netherrealm for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, set to launch in 2011. The new features are a new graphic engine and new game modes such as Co-op Arcade Mode and Tag-Team up to 4 players online.
BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announces Mortal Kombat, the most brutal installment of the landmark fighting game to date for release on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft in 2011. Mortal Kombat is being developed by the newly re-named NetherRealm Studios, led by Mortal Kombat creator and creative director Ed Boon.
The newest chapter of the iconic fight franchise marks a triumphant return to the series' mature presentation and a reinvention of its classic 2D fighting mechanic. Driven by an all new graphics engine, the fan favorite Fatality is back and presented in more gory detail than ever before. In addition, Mortal Kombat introduces a number of new game-play features including tag team and the deepest story mode of any fighting game. Players can choose from an extensive lineup of the game's iconic warriors and challenge their friends in traditional 1 vs. 1 matches, or take on several new game modes.

Mortal Kombat introduces a number of new game modes as well as the most extensive online experience ever seen in a fighting game. Up to 4 players can battle "tag-team"- 2 players can team up in the new "Co-op Arcade Mode" or compete against another team online.

Mortal Kombat Ko-op was a brilliant idea. Now my friend and can kick ass on psn. Its like a dream come true. (For a multiplayer game at least) But after I get my guitar im gonna buy this. The game is still in development but it already looks like at least a 9/10

@TheSubzerogr MK 8 is actually MKvsDC. I know its not really part of the story. But still the 8th different game. This isn't an advancement on the story either as with MKvsDC. Its a retelling of events. Hence just being named Mortal Kombat. Its not MK9.

Nice to know that they improved the biggest mistake made in MK vs DC - Johnny Cage, Mileena, Reptile and Kung Lao are in game again!!! PLUS great new graphics, unique fatalities, impressive arenas.....but wait a minute, what about Scorpion, Kabal, Jade, Liu Kang, Kitana and Sonya Blade???

this looks AMAZING, im so glad they brought the gore back, i was really disappointed with that joke of a game MK VS DC. This MK is at its best, i can tell already with the original stages, and im guessing the whole cast, not involving the characters like that Dracula girl. i want the originals like smoke, sektor, cyrax, Chameleon, kabal and the main scorpion luikang, subzero so on and so fourth, just no stupid characters like meat. man he was retarded, not cool at all.
