Great trip, looking forward to Part 2! Nothing wrong with military planning - the '6P principle'. I believe the outfield of the cricket pitch used to be used for football and I'm sad I never got to referee there when the club were in a league I was refereeing on.
@@kevinellis8869 Yes. It would be great to play on that pitch. Turns out we were fairly close to the plan by the end, accepting someone forgot to factor in a lunch break! Mind you... things don't quite go to plan on SL7 in part 2...
Those foot tunnels are a bit weird - but fun too! Loved the video, thanks for posting. Us Londoners of a “certain age” enjoy the privileges of our Freedom Passes, buses, tube, surface rail all free after 9am…🤗🤗
@@andyml1 Yes my sister travels all over with her freedom pass. She likes to travel all over the TfL area. I'm pretty envious. Not sure she's been through the tunnels though. Thanks for watching 👍
Part 1 was well done as usual. Richard did a better job than I would have! :) We haven’t walked the tunnel under the Thames but are aware of it. It’s just too creepy. Lol. Maybe riding a bike thru would be okay but not on foot. Looking forward to Part 2.
@@sandiandgregh thanks. Richard was an excellent barger in chief. No way i would have ever got those front seats ! The tunnel is definitely not for everybody. I suspect if you did the trip as part of your daily commute it would just become normalised. But to us... very weird indeed.
Wouldn't miss Part 2! Can't wait. I want to do this same thing the next time I'm in London, whenever that is. But unless I'm with someone else I'm definitely taking the ferry rather than the tunnel. I'm still astonished by the foot tunnel.
That was very jolly, thank you, and the new presenter is delightful :) A bit remiss of you to lose the good Major on a bus though... Once again you packed so much into the video, such a variety which we both enjoyed. Oh, and especially loved the stained glass!
@@ampersand. i know. Terrible to have lost the Major in the bus. I kept him a bit closer after that 🤣 I'm sure Richard will be very pleased with "delightful" 😉
Lovely video. I use the SL5 quite a bit between Croydon and Bromley. As you saw it is a single decker, because part of the route follows a section of protected trees.
I wonder if - being single deck - it actually loads and unloads more quickly that the double-deckers on the other SL routes. I know TfL wouldn't do it, as staff costs would go up, but I think that if they doubled the Superloop service generally but ran single-deckers, the buses would run significantly faster, and a lot more people would use them.
@@ricktownend9144 it is a pity is not a double decker service, but they have no choice due to the protected trees, The service runs every 10 mins during the day and every 15 mins at other times. It usually takes 20 to 35 minutes Croydon to Bromley North. The normal bus takes over an hour.
@@HonarySpock thanks for the kind words. Interesting that the single decker is due to the trees. If asked, I'd have guessed a low bridge. Thanks to for watching 👍

It's not a complete circle so shouldn't be called a loop, maybe they should link it by using the ferry so the passengers don't have to walk. If TfL wanted to make it fast they could use the Dartford Crossing, the M25 is also not a complete circle, the crossing not Motorway.
@@tonys1636 well yes. Maybe we should allow them the latitude of that. After all "Superloop" is a good marketing term, even if it isn't quite a loop.
