As opposed to using systems like Mailchimp or Campaign Monitor, you could save a tonne of cash by using Sendy. Sendy is a self hosted solution, meaning that you need to install sendy on your own web hosting service.
When installed, Sendy uses Amazon SES which is a bulk emailing provider to send emails for you and in turn you'll be paying a fraction of the amount. You'll only pay 10 cents per 1000 emails that you send. Now imagine that, with Sendy you'd pay only $2 to send an email to 20,000 subscribers. Crazy Huh?
What you'll need:
- A sendy licence. Once off payment of $59 USD as of 14/08/2019
- A decent web host, with PHP and Mysql. If it has CPANEL it is an added bonus as it makes it much easier and faster to set up.
- Patience, as it can take an hour or so to get going and also a day or two to wait for Amazon to increase your email quota.

Great tutorial. Got stuck using Sendy's official instructions but these instructions were really easy to get Sendy up and running! The Amazon SES increased daily limit is still pending for me after 48 hours though.

Passing 8 minutes in this video, when you mention the web host server compatibility checklist installing Sendy, are you referring to Amazon SES or my website domain that is hosted in Bluehost?
Hello Mr. Digital, just to clarify, when you install Sendy it goes into the "root" folder which is the public_html folder. Once you move all the files out of the Sendy folder and into the main public_html folder there is an issue with a cgi-bin folder which is already present if you have a domain website up and running. Your example shows a public_html folder with nothing in it, which might not be the case for the majority of people. Transmit (my FTP program) asks what to do, since the Sendy folder has its own cgi-bin folder. Is it possible to keep the Sendy files in a folder called sendy.mydomain.com? If so, what is the access path? I tried copying the URL of the sendy.mydomain.com folder and putting that in the config.php file as the access path, but I can't get to my Sendy installation.

Hey i love your tutorial, and i got stuck when i try to request to upgrade my daily sending quota with the SES, and it got rejected 4 times, saying that "We reviewed your request and determined that your use of Amazon SES could have a negative impact on our service. We are denying this request to prevent other Amazon SES customers from experiencing interruptions in service. For security purposes, we are unable to provide specific details" i gave them the details that i need and i will be using sendy to handle the bounces, subscription and so on, and it still got rejected, any ideas ?
I have a Doubt of Paying the Mails, How do i need pay ,when I should Pay( Before using or After Using) on Daily Basis or Monthly basis?

I connected sendy with pepipost and i tried to send the campaign. Sendy said that the campaign was sent but i couldn't see it in the pepipost. Also, i saw on the cpanel that the mySQL database says "You are using your maximum allotment (1) of MariaDB/MySQL databases. If you want more, contact your service provider." Do you think this might the problem?

Hi Ezio, thank you for watching! I am not familiar with Mail For Good or MoonMail, so I can't really comment on it, sorry. In answer to your questions, I'm pretty sure if you are tech savvy you could get up a small Amazon EC2 instance to run Sendy on, a VPS might be preferable because if you have any PHP extensions that need installing, a shared host may not be accommodating to you. I don't think it will matter regarding sending possibilities, the Send rate is controlled via Amazon, they restrict how much you can send per second. With Amazon SES, I don't think they analyse it that much, with my video I don't have a website on it and my message I sent to them was all I needed to do to be approved. So I don't think they investigate in depth regarding that. I think the only time they may contact you is if you get marked for spam a lot on your emails.

Hi... I have been using Sendy on AWS for a while now. We are experiencing an issue which I am NOT sure if it is about the way we have installed it. For whatever reason at the time, when setting up Sendy, it seems we have entered a particular email under our company domain. However, the emails are being sent from another email address under a different domain. Our emails are delivered fine but when someone is trying to respond to that email, they are not coming through. On the other hand, automated replies from our recipients do go into the actual sending emails Inbox. Could this be because of the actual email & domain being different then what it is in the profile of our Sendy account? Or is it not related to our Sendy setup at all?

Hey! great video! I was wondering if you found a workaround or solution for doing A/B split testing or subject line testing with Sendy.co. It looks like it has everything I needed, except for that one little feature which I realized I took for granted. :S
You could just do your own a/b test with 20% and 20% of the list then send the 60% to the winner.

Eduardo Barbosa The region i was trying to apply to wasnt supported by Sandy. I tried different amazon region and it worked. I have reported the issue to Sendy staff and they updated this already

on the webhosting mysql DB contains the email addresses I guess. Are those email addresses encrypted or I can read it when I login to the mysql DB?

Can sendy detect correctly which emails are spammed and which emails are bounced? I mean I sent 100 emails and 10 of them bounced and 8 of them are marked as spam. Can I see those email addresses and remove them from my list?
why you dont ask on sendy website?
there are email screening services. I just ran a 2,500 email list through it. It was an old list. It knocked it down to half.

Going to be a bit hard Christina. That type of hosting is shared and has lots of restrictions.
I set up sendy+AWS SES with godaddy hosting. No problem at all.
