I have officially decided to get rid of get sendy. Yup, after using it for the past 2 years, I have found something more powerful and also at a lower cost. That solution is Mautic.
This video is obviously pretty out of date. I haven't tried Mautic, but I can say that if you are finding this video in 2021, Sendy does do most of this now. They were slow to add some key features, but they have upped their game with v5.x. Their support is pretty good too. I'm pretty sure it's just the one developer, but he answers and there's a nice resource of previously asked questions. It's never going to win awards for UI, but it's not hard and it does most of what you would ever need it to do and the cost savings is incredible.
Sendy is better than Mautic in so many ways. I have used both and am with Sendy all the way. Mautic is just one complicated tool that can mess you up fast.

A quick question, I'm thinking of switching hosts and I see that you're using InMotion Hosting, is this to do with their lack of Cron Jobs delays or is this for other reasons?

I use arpReach which also has a segmenting feature, but the lead scoring feature you described in this video sounds very intriguing!
+Alex Booster Yes I have an arpreach license that I don't use. I always found the interface needlessly complicated. Also it doesn't have marketing automation features to be able to have triggers based on actions the lead takes. That and it is a lot more expensive the Free.
Adam, arpReach did get better. So, there definitely are some triggers based on actions now and I like the current interface in that it allows to navigate in menu without clicking i.e. mouse hover menus. But I gotta say, that lead scoring is a super intriguing feature. So, I have to check out Mautic just because of that.
Yes, and Mautic 2.0 is just around the corner and is supposed to be a huge update.

This your observations and review was for four years ago. Are you saying the sendy platform still remain same and have not resolved all this your concerns? If they have, then they still remains the cheapest and intelligent correspondence in the market.
What do you think? Am in the midst of getting either Sendy or Mautic now.

Adam thanks Mautic is powerful but you need to be tech savvy. I did some programming many years ago and I find mautic difficult the documentation is for developers. The help desk respond like everyone is a techie I do not blame them it is open source for developers. I have hired people to make it work to no avail. Mautic I believe is great it has a lot of functionalities but not for the average Joe. Kindly let people know this. It is sad but I had to turn a webber back on and will be using active campaign becasue I spent 2 days trying to create a campaign using segments. Anyone reading this if you are not tech savy forget it. Also remember that there are very few people you can hire for mautic. It is not wordpress don't get your hopes high. In conclusion it is a very powerful tool not meant for individuals but developers the sad part the pool of consultant to hire to help set up is little to none.

same here, as you search youtube the only guy who is promoting mautic heavily is Adam and I asked around my online marketer friends, they are using Active Campaign and (low tech, simple mail) MailPoet to scale and manage this on your own. Even the cache deleting video is very suspicious. What you want is actually solid systems that run hasslefree - mind like water.
Same here. Tried. had my tech guy on it. Too many issues. Need something out of the box.
I've heard there are issues with the forms submit button in Maudit. When users click the button it takes a long time for anything to happen or the submit button keeps spinning. Have you experienced this and if so is the issue resolved in the latest release? Are you still using maudit now?
Hey Adam, what is your opinion of interspire email marketer? Cuz I think it has a LOT of features yet it still easy "unlike" mautic... What do you think?
+Salah Saqr Interspire is abandon ware, they just don't update it. I would take Sendy over it, but as you already know I have switched to Mautic. I have more videos on the way that cover Mautic. After using it you will see its not that complicated.
Could you do a tutorial on using and results with rapid mailer it’s like sendy but a self hosted Autoresponder plugin

Yes, I still use Mautic. Working fine for me and they have consistently pushed out new features.

Adam, may i know which membership plugin do u use in wordpress? i am using s2member pro for years, do u think it can integrate with mautic seamlessly ? i want to achieve exactly what u have mentioned. when user paid they go to level 1 and i dont want them to receive the auto responder email that mention or ask them to buy or give them discount code
Mautic is some how clumsy as it doesnt deliver all it promises. I dont think it is a good option.

Did something change with Mautic since this video? Seems like it's pretty pricey today.. like starting at $500/month? Are you using something else now?
mautic.com vs mautic.org - this video is about the self-hosted version, not the service you pay for.

I took a brief look at mautic . it has two major limitations you should mention it 1.No SES bounce and complaint support 2. 1mail/sec speed.
Maybe you want to take another look because neither of those are correct. Bounce and complaint management is working perfectly fine for me with Mautic. And I am using Amazon SES. Not sure where you got that info. Also there is no 1 email per second limitation, have no clue where you got that info.
+Adam Preiser I looked at automatic forums . someone from staff acknowledged the 1mail/sec limit to support shared hosting . Bounce and complaint support is there through email retrieval which is messy.
Well the don't really have staff participation in their user forum. It is all users and there is no limitation like that. So I would like to see the link to that thread so I can put correct information there. And there is nothing messy about the bounce and complaint management. Not sure where you are getting this info and I would suggest you try using Mautic before say these things as if they are facts.

Both of those threads are over a year old when Mautic was just released. Also the admin never said that was the sending speed, only that they way the person was choosing to send emails would be slower because if their server resources.

Three years later...are you still using Mautic? Would you still recommend it? I'm looking at migrating from Mailchimp.
Yes, I do use it to this day. Mautic is going through a transition phase as it was just acquired. So there's no saying what will happen next development wise.

Hi Adam, what delivery speed are getting with Mautic... I find it quite slow in comparison to Sendy.. my maximum speed is 1 email per second on Mautic comparing to 12 email per second on the same VPS. Thanks.
That's very odd that it would send that slow. I use Amazon and it is not that slow for me. Are you using an API connection for sending?
Amazon SES can that be used to send emails to orders received in my seller central account? I'm looking for a good program to blast an email to all new customers without having to individually email each customer on Amazon's messaging system within Seller Central.

Amazon SES is an outbound email sending service that you can use to send any types of emails out. You can use it with your email client on your phone or computer, or in this case you can use it with Mautic.

Yes it integrates perfectly with Amazon SES. That is how I use it. So free versus $59 for Sendy, yea its cheaper. But for me it's not about the money, it's about having a better system, and that is what Mautic is.

Mautic just let us down. Skipped emails, failed campaigns. Support not helpful, too much effort to make things work right. We're going back to Interspire.
Yes it is something that you have to keep an eye on from time to time. I haven't experienced a problem like this though.
I use interspire marketer but it broke......but sendy is stupid, I have 7 ebooks and I cant just send emails to all users....i need to ort users to receive what I want them to receive....will sendy allow me to create autoresponders for 7 different web campaigns?

You can use Gmail to send emails, but I think it's limited to 100 emails per day. If you can get it set up correctly, Amazon SES is the way to go. Adam said he was going to do a video on Mautic and Amazon SES setup, but I haven't seen it yet. I think it's still on his to-do list.

I spent a lot of time setting up and learning about mautic after watching this video. I am glad such a product exist for free, but I am also a bit disappointed with mautic. It is very rough around the edges. It lacks some very basic features even though it is supposed to be a powerful marketing automation platform, which is frustrating. And the features they do have, can be difficult to use. Plus, you do need to be very tech savvy to use it and you have to be willing to spend a lot of time to troubleshoot, to search on the internet and their forums for answers, which you don't always get.
What basic features do you feel that it's lacking? I find the problem is more related to people just not knowing how to use it. And sometimes a learning curve can be frustrating. Other than that Mautic is amazingly powerful and a lot easier than every single other marketing automation platform that I have seen or used.
Basic but essential features Mautic lacks:
1. native double opt-in support
2. Campaign reporting is ridiculously lacking
3. No easy way to schedule an email send - you need to play with a very clunky cronjob and it doesn't always work.
4. Can't easily export your contact - there are work arounds, but it is not an elegant solution.
besides, the work flow and user interface are just not very intuitive, and a lot of features are very buggy. NO support. Poor documentation.
I am surprised that you like mautic so much, considering you used Sendy before. Sendy.co by comparison is actually much more user friendly, reliable and polished for email marketing. Combine Sendy and Hubspot, and you get a much better solution than mautic.
