I've been watching your videos for a few days and I like how informative but easy to understand they are. I'm currently 16 and graduate next year (I'm graduating a couple months early) and I really want to join the Air Force but Idk which exact career I want to pursue. Can you make a video on how to choose which career is right for the individual? I hope that all made sense
same i’m 15 and i graduate in 2024, i’m thinking about going into the air force straight out of high school. i have no idea what job i want and there’s literally so many, it’s hard to research them all and decide lol so this is a good idea!
@@smekkii fr it's kinda hard to find information because a lot of the stuff you read online contradicts what another source says. If you don't know the exact career you want it makes it even harder to research.
@@VoidForest1874 ikr, it’s just difficult to research every single job when you have 0 clue which one you’re interested in. i have to agree on what you said about different sources saying different things, it’s difficult because i never know which one is true.
Basically it's poverty pay until you make E-5. Most unmarried folks don't really care.but it's uncomfortable if you have family and get a deployment (even for 6-mos) to places that don't accept dependents. Its sucks for a young girl that gets stuck even with base housing - all alone to trying to deal with everything.
Great video! You want to see something hilarious? Look up the pay tables for years past--it's amazing how little Airmen were making when old retired guys like ME were Airmen, heh! Of course, things were cheaper then, and I lived in the dorms and of course I had a meal card, so it really wasn't bad at all. You mentioned that your base pay is about $3000 a month right now. In 1980 (when I came in), you had to be a full colonel over 20 to make that much, heh! Well, it's just a number, of course, and everything is way, WAY more expensive today. It makes me wonder, though--right now, base pay for a full colonel over 20 is $11,520 a month. In 2060, is THAT what the base pay for a SSgt is going to be?? Maybe. Love your media! 😀
I started considering as of 2 days ago. You’re videos have been so helpful in easing my nerves about it. I submitted an application yesterday, and hoping to hear from a recruiter soon!!
@@dbelle. they did but I chickened out. However I’m still considering. I have fomo bad and a horrible attachment to my grandma so I’m still sitting on it

@@Strongfortress7 I disagree. It is important to know thatmilitary pay has been far below civilian pay since basically forever. When I got out I had the same job at an airport that I had in the USAF. Quick question. If a Airman is married and gets stationed over seas but his significant other stay in the States cause of work. How does the BAH work? Does the airmen live on base overseas while they get BAH to pay for in the State apartment?
If you live over seas, do you get pay US dollars? Like, let’s say you’re stationed in Japan or South Korea, even Europe, i believe USD are cheaper than their currency so you’ll be running money short there but in states you’ll be good? Idk if i explained myself correctly
Hey there, Would you consider doing a video on the current PT test and height/weight standards? I know we get this at the recruiter. Is it possible for you to film one of your SNCO/NCO or Officers taking the test? Thank you.
Basic doesn't scare me at all but when you said they can just kick you out of your Dorm it's made me hesitant in joining, what if I don't wanna live off base
For what we had to do, we made next to nothing. Not a damned penny more. Once when a Colonel on base found out that most of the Airmen (enlisted) on the base qualified for food stamps, he wanted the officers under his command to talk it up with them and encourage them to sign up and think it of as "just another benefit." Those guys had no clue. Typical for an O-6.
So you didnt explain being married and having dependent(s), do we get to live off base? When? After BMT? After completing tech school? Just curious. I do not live in the US but my island is a U.S. Territory. I wanted to know when we might be able to bring our Spouse & Dependent(s) after BMT.
Is air force worth staying in until retirement? Or is it better to get the experience and get out to find a civilian job? Everyone tells me the civilian side pays way more than what I’ll be making in my air force job. I’m debating signing a 6 year contract but keep getting told no to take the 4 and get out asap
It really depends on your personal goals and experience. I enlisted when I was 17 and left for basic when I was 18 so signing the 6 year contract, for me , wasn’t a big deal. I got the job I wanted in the Air Force and didn’t know what I wanted to do on the outside yet. I think most people figure it out along the way, as far as if they’re reenlisting or getting out.
There are ups and downs to joining any branch. If you choose your career wisely you can use those skills in the private sector and possibly make more than what you would in the military. Let's say you get into cyber security, that's a high demand job you could perform in the military and as a civilian when/if you get out (and all your training is free through the military.) One benefit to staying in is that you are eligible for retirement in 20 years. So if you join at 20 you could potentially retire when you are 40.
Question! I don't really know what the "staff" are called, but are they like literally the meanest people to exist? Based off of what I've heard, they have no feelings and do nothing but give you self insecurity 💀is that true, and what are they like? Thanks so much!
My question is what if you took JROTC for three years in high school? I’ve heard that being jrotc for a certain number of years can make it so that you get a higher rank once you graduate BMT and get a higher pay as a result.
You don’t get to see your kids as much as you want too, you miss home, you only get maybe 30 days with them every once in a while when you ask for leave
Hi Mikayla I will have my undergraduate degree in medical humanities and applied behavioral science and my masters degree in public health a year after that. should I still enlist or go the officer route
So you’re saying if you get removed from the dorms unexpectedly you will have to move out and pay for your own rent. Will you get bah automatically if you get removed from the dorms?
so if i got to a rank where i could live off base and I happened to be stationed in my hometown I could just live with my parents and pocket the BAH? (I'd probably want to live alone anyway but that's a fun idea)
OH also say im stationed in another state and I was asked to move off base for capacity reasons.... how would I get my car😧 would they pay for a rental or compensate for the gas for my mom to drive it to me/ flight home for her? or would I just have to take the L
thinking of joining the usaf reserves and your videos have been extremely helpful. I hope I can become an officer because I have a bachelor degree but I wasn't in school for a full 4 years because my program was accelerated. Is that something that could keep me from becoming an officer?
If you dont know; this pay doesnt apply to reserves, they get paid much differently because they're not active duty. As for the degree, ask your recruiter.
Because prices were different back then. We get more money now because things are more expensive. It is basically the same amount, if you really think about it.
How can people live off these salaries? Do people struggle? I don't know anyone in any of the armed forces personally but I live in a HCOL area on the east coast so maybe the places these people live are super cheap?
In addition to your monthly salary pay which seems low you’re getting money for housing and food. So even though I only make $2900 a month in base pay I’m getting an extra $2800 for food and housing so it’s pretty decent.
