This is a track taken from the album Reconquista.
BATTLE OF THE BURBIA RIVER 791 AD (Batalla del Rio Burbia) is a theme inspired by the most important conflict that occurred in the Iberian peninsula during a period of seven centuries. In the fight between the ancient Visigothic kings and their people against the great Muslim enemy who quickly conquered so much territory.

It has a roman air. Sounds amazing, it makes me remember Gneus Julius Agricola's theme (a personal opinion only)

Heeey Sir Jack 1937!! Well, as soon as I read you, I went to listen to Agricola's track again and it is true that structurally they are quite similar. Although the instruments are different and the speed of the song is slower, it can be reminiscent of that song a bit. Every composer usually has a series of structures when writing music that comes naturally to them, so patterns are repeated more than once, even if not intentionally. This time it was the case. Thank you very much for your comment brother, and enjoy it!

Ok im ignorant about this battle. What is the background of this specific clash of arms between the Christians and muslims? I could check on the internet but i prefer to hear it from the author.

      Heeey MR GLADIUS!!
Well, this battle has very little documentation, and it was a battle that the Christians lost against the Muslims.
Near the Burbia River, in the Spanish province of León (even belonging at this time in history to the Kingdom of Asturias), the Asturian Christians under the command of King Bermudo I the Deacon, tried to ambush the armies of Emir Hisham I who were coming to attack Galician lands, but the Muslims, with the skillful general Yusuf ibn Bujt, managed to defend themselves and crushed the Asturian forces.
This caused King Bermudo to abdicate the throne in favor of Alfonso II the Chaste. This defeat forced the Reconquista to be postponed for many years.

@@davidchas so you are still cpvering the early periods. Are you holding the big battles for later? Cause for now thats not much of a RECONQUISTA.

Yes bro, I want to compose the Reconquista Saga with the time line of the battles and relative characters. I am composing in order of dates approx.

Heeey francisjohnlee!! Thank you very much for your comment!!I tried to compose a dark scene for this battle. It may be possible that the sound is somewhat reminiscent of Roman music.
