      @@samwhite4608 England originates from Angleland “land of the Angles/Anglos” which came from the Angle tribe who were from modern day Denmark. Still Germanic nonetheless.
      And yep English people are mostly Germanic in many areas. They are more Celtic in the Scottish/Welsh border areas as well as Devon and Cornwall but everywhere else it’s mostly Germanic.
      On average it’s 30-40% Anglo-Saxon, 19% “German/French” which is just from the Normans, 9% Scandinavian from the Danes, and the rest is all Celtic.

    • @oldboy977
      @oldboy977 6 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Nima Pourkarimi That's not true at all. Charlemagne even came to England to help did them of their "Pagan" problem. The first Saxon King to convert was a weak fugitive who spent most of his life trying to escape being killed by rivals by hiding in friendly kingdoms. There is a theory that the Pagan Danes, (who lived where the Saxons did formerly) were asked by their Saxon cousins to come to their aid after the death of Charlemagne of France. That is why the first raid was on a monastery shortly after the death of Charlemagne. Sorry the facts don't aline. Most of the Anglo Saxon writings even in the later period make references to Woden, showing that they are at least torn or having a difficult time letting go of the old ways. Even the biblical stories were changed to convert them, Christ wasn't presented as a meek pacifist his crucifixion was presented akin to Wodens sacrifice on the world tree. The fact that Ostara/Easter (a Saxon fertility goddess) is still celebrated should speak volumes.
      Maybe you should read a bit more of the surrounding stories instead of the world of one source before you slander an entire people.

      @@andrewwigglesworth3030 So what?
      It pays a damn good tribute to it, it's a simple and non-overwhelming piece that would be ideal for such a video and it certainly has a strong Anglo-Saxon vibe to it, it wouldn't fit an academic diatribe about the Anglo Saxon world, but for a primary school project, it would do fine.
      As to your request, "Eve B", I am not the creator and I feel kinda bad speaking for him and I hope not to disrespect the creator by doing so, but believe me, there's no way he would've minded your daughter using it for a primary school project, I know I'm late, but if in the future this comes up with this or any other song, as long as it's a small scale, especially education-based use of the product/song with the inclusion of a link, then no creator will ever mind.

    I'm 52% English, 27% Irish, 14%Welsh, 2% Scottish, 3% Swedish and Danish and 2% German. Have an Irish surname but born in England. My English DNA is concentrated in Devon, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. My Irish DNA is located in east County Mayo. My Scottish DNA is traced back to Edinburgh. My Welsh DNA is centred around Carmarthenshire. I guess my Danish and Swedish DNA is derived via the Vikings. Unsure where my 2% German DNA comes from. Always felt I was predominantly Irish so my DNA results has somewhat shocked me. My DNA is littered with Anglo Saxon surnames: Pike, Moody, Robin, Palmer (ok, Anglo-Norman) , Opher.
    Difficult to grasp that my Irish DNA is so low. I went to an Irish Catholic school, was told I even look Irish. Now I am in the process of changing my mindset which has been difficult, a mindset that firmly believed that my ancestors were mainly Irish.
    Researched my genealogy hence the clarity.
    Knew my father's side were predominantly Irish. Lost my mum when I was 6. Dad told me my mum's side were also Irish but evidently not the case. Guess I am now Team Wessex.

    I am Dumnonni. My last name is Hensley. I havw traced my heritage back to 1200. I was in the Souther Peninsula of England. There were 18 tribes in the land.
    Then the invasions began. Vikings from the North, and Christians from the South.
    We came from a Celtic tribe that was fused with the very early immigrants out of Scandinavia.
    We traveled from the Norther lands to Sweden, all of us European folk, and branched out.
    My tribe became the Irish and fused with Danes in the Bronze Age. Then we migrated throughout Ireland and ending up in early Devon England. My local tribes picked this up and we built houses, or manors and became Lords.
    Thats where my family started.
