No wonder Alison and Meredith were so messed up. Their father was a pervert and their mother was a witch. Talk about a dysfunctional nightmare. Their mother's enraged reaction to the father's self-pitying confession where he blamed her (!) makes me think she did know or at least suspected what was going on, she just preferred to pretend the abuse never happened, disowning her daughters when they told the truth about it. She was furious when they wouldn't continue the charade of being the "perfect family".

The mother probably financially relied on her husband, which discouraged her from leaving him and encouraged her to pretend nothing was wrong. This is usually why mothers do little or nothing to chastise their husbands who abused the children.

Even though Alison burned her own bridges with Amanda, she always had the audience sympathy because of what she went through with her family. We knew Alison could be self righteous and manipulative and all of that, but she was also incredibly brave and stoical to face up to such a terrible trauma and try to work through it.

Sad thing is, this is AND was a big Problem in so many Families! I was Molested and Physically abused at age 6 by my Uncle and it destroyed me forever, i ended up blaming my Parents for not Protecting me. But Years of therapy I'm better and have since Forgiving my parents because it really wasn't their fault, They didn't know what was Going on at the Time.

I can't believe what Allison's Dad was actually saying like. To firstly blame her Mother for "Not touching" him and then trying to justify his actions by saying all that crap. Not that her Mum was any better. Too concerned about the guests at her barbecue to actually give a damn. The cheek 😡.
The mother knew what was going on all along. She was only married to the old man for financial and other Securities to begin with. I'll bet she didn't split with him after that.

Some of them do. They whine and complain, blaming everyone but themselves. Or they actually think that they didn't do anything wrong, considering their wives, girlfriends, children, etc. to be their property, and they could do anything they wanted to them, or claiming they were "just loving them".
Alisson is very courageous
Yes, and I'm so GLAD she did this in public. It may have been very embarrassing for her to do it this way, but that she confronted her dad in public and that all his friends and guests (probably many of them were clients of his) heard it. I"m guessing he lost a lot of clients because of what she said. If so, glad he did!
