What’s funny about Mackenzie is that not only he is a boy, but he’s often *the* boy. In Shops he’s the only boy playing among girls right until the end, in Circus he’s the only boy before Winton joins in, in Spy Game he’s the only boy at all. Whenever there are other boys playing in a group, he’s either not shown or playing on his own like in Mums and Dads. In Barky Boats, Winton insinuates that Bluey is going to marry him, while in Circus Coco wants him to be her pretend husband. And of course, Barky Boats is an episode about boys and girls at different ages, and he represents boys in that one.
Mackenzie is a great character. He’s proving that it’s ok for boys to prefer to hangout with girls, and it’s ok for girls to hangout with boys. Mackenzie obviously prefers to be around girls and prefers games like house or pretend instead of more stereotypical boy games. And even though he likes to hangout with girls he still brings boy nature with him, which is very relatable.
i also think rusty falls into this category sometimes. like yeah his favorite game to play is army bc his dad is in the army, but he also plays house with indy all the time and plays with baby dolls in several episodes.

I think one of my favorite aspects of the show is that they don’t do the boys vs girls thing, boys mostly playing with only boys and vice versa. And not only that but the boys like to play games like pretend house, shop, etc, which I would assume most people see as girl games. I can’t tell if Mackenzie prefers to play games like that or just likes playing with his friends, either way he’s a very sweet and cute character. I love the running joke he has with sheep and I know there a little too young to have things like crushes but when Coco wanted him to be her husband when playing circus was just too cute, I definitely see him being a heartthrob if they ever decide to show more of the kids older.

I enjoy that Bluey has unique relationships with all her friends, Mackenzie seems to be one of the most consistent. She doesn't engage with the other boys like Rusty much, even Lucky she doesn't interact with that much but I feel like Mackenzie has more of a role in the episodes he's in that isn't a cameo. Even if is a cameo, it still has him connected to bluey or interact wise. Like he's racing her in "Handstand". He's one of the other boys who shows up in "Wolfhound". He's in her dream, etc.
This is why I ship Blukenzie. Bluey just feels more comfortable around him than the other boys. She even had a lucid dream that was supposed to be totally unrelated to him, but he was there anyways! Really shows that Mackenzie is a special dog in Bluey’s life. I really hope the animators actually give us more about blukenzie and Mackenzie himself. I hope he appears in more episodes!

I love the footage of the Bluey figures in real settings. For some reason, seeing the figures standing still alongside the moving scenery reminds me of the figures used in Thomas episodes.
Mackenzie is supposed to be a nod to the dog from the comic strip “Footrot Flats”. This is a New Zealand comic strip about a farmer and his dog hence the Kiwi accent. There are a lot of soft stereotypes in his character that you don’t really pick up unless you see NZ kids relate to Australian kids. The slight differences in culture that those outside the Antipodes will miss completely. He probably endears because the character is easy to write. When I watched those episodes for the first time, as someone who grew up in Australia, I thought he was written well, albeit predictably. I think it works with Americans because he’s (in their eyes) unorthodox, but to me he’s familiar.

Mackenzie is a great character because of relatable he can be. You can easily see it in the episode "Space" (Australia only episode) where it shows his past trauma and anxiety and which that's usually why he likes to isolate himself from the others whenever he gets worked up, and or frustrated. This is why i like Bluey in the first place as it likes to highlight people with special things with them such as Jack's ADHD, Mackenzie's Anxiety and another character which I can't remember the name in fact they might not have a name at all, who uses Australian sign language.

for me I like that Mackenzie is a border collie. I grew up with Border collies so it be interesting to see what breed traits the put in with Mackenzie you think Mackenzie would be portrayed as a kid with OCD because of his breed but I'm glad that not the case as some Border collies aren't alway a dog on red bull 24/7
i like mackezie a lot. he is not my favorite tho, that would be Jack, Trixie, and Muffin. I like him as one of my faves though because he is relatable. For example, lots can probably relate to how he gets annoyed easily. Also, he isn't from Austrailia which is pretty neat. I just discovered your channel and FINALLY I’ve found a whole entire TH-cam channel purely dedicated to Bluey! It’s so awesome to see that shit, truly.
What I find fascinating about Mackenzie is how originating from New Zealand plays very much into how he bounces off the other kids. Given the others all relate to their home zone, the idea then of this oddity who thinks what he takes to heart applies with friends adds some endearing contrast. He's learning apprehensively to go with the flow, and in turn they have to figure out why he shifts course when they have almost no understanding of his circumstances. This is highlighted but also left open to interpretation in 'Space', Mackenzie's spotlight episode from Season 3, although it could be fairly taken his frustrations from previous episodes were playing into his vague recollection. I liked how he conversed with Bingo in 'Curry Quest' as well, because of how they closely align, being self-oriented kids - the main difference being that Bingo is more family-oriented and on a less progressive level; her shocked reaction to Mackenzie's revelation of her Dad going made it very telling. I absolutely adore Mackenzie too, he’s a character that I can heavily relate to. I feel really happy whenever I see our similar traits. Whenever I get frustrated or upset I like to isolate myself. He’s like my comfort character,it went from a random character I saw on the screen as a kid not knowing I would heavily relate to him later in my life when I revisited Bluey. When I was super young like 4-5 I would do this and I didn’t notice! He’s a really nice character I would have never thought I could relate to.
I would love to know Mackenzie more. Funny he is my favorite and I really do relate with him quite a bit. So hopefully in season 4 he will get his own dedicated episode or more lead role

When I first started watching Bluey, I thought she was a boy, until in one episode someone in the show called her a girl. So then I thought Mackenzie was a girl with knowing that bluey is a female and that he has a (kind of) high-pitched voice, but thanks to your channel I found out that was the opposite.
I love the atmospheric shots with your figurines in this. So pretty. (Also, I totally didn't think that Mackenzie was a girl for the longest time, okay? Great.) XD

When I first started watching Bluey, I thought she was a boy, until in one episode someone in the show called her a girl. So then I thought Mackenzie was a girl with knowing that bluey is a female and that he has a (kind of) high-pitched voice, but thanks to your channel I found out that was the opposite.
