How To Make BEAUTIFUL Collage Brooches From Upcycled Materials

- In this easy to understand DIY video, we will be making three beautiful collage brooches. These are called assemblage collage brooches or mixed media collage brooches and are made with mostly upcycled materials. I will take you step by step and explain in great detail how to create different artful pieces. The treasure hunt for materials can be just as fun as crafting them. I will give you a brief show and tell of unexpected sources for unique materials to gather and look for. You can customize your brooch to be a wonderful statement accessory for just about any style or look, i.e.: lagenlook, mori girl, fairy, boho, hippie, shabby chic, Victorian, elegant, steampunk and more! I'm a 20 years old man that love making accessories aannd clothes mainly because I like things that makes people beautiful. It started when I met a tailor who makes wedding dresses then I discover cosplay.
Now I fell in love with a girl, I alway love brooches and wanted to make her one for her birthday. So far I'm going around flea markets and antique shops to find materials.

I want to pass on to you a handy little tool. It is used in the Acrylic and Gel Nail industry. It can help you pick up and place your little crystal gems. It is a dual head tool. On one end it has wax to pick up the bead and the other end is a needle point to position your gem. You can even purchase replacement wax heads. It would be a handy little tool to keep in your arsenal of tools to use for your crafting. These brooches are just gorgeous, and I commend you on your crafting ability!

I've been collecting little treasures, little bits and pieces of this and that, ever since I discovered flea markets and thrift shops a long time ago. I just knew they would look beautiful in whatever I put them on but I couldn't get a clear picture in my mind of how to use them until I came across your video. This is just the perfect thing to make. You have sent me on the right path with your lovely brooches and I am filled with joy to think that now I have a plan to use all my bits and pieces. I have just turned 80 so you know my chest is filled with crazy quilt fabric, delightful ribbons, buttons, jewelry and now, at last, the wait to use them is over. I admire your eye for seeing a potential end product in a bunch of scraps. Having an idea is one thing, but it's not easy to reverse engineer a vision and take it apart into its individual pieces. Most people might see a few things that would go together, combine them and end up with an alright, if a bit boring end product, but you manage to combine things that I would have never thought of combining, that don't look good in their original form, and you stick with your project through every step, even though the individual steps often look like a pile of junk, because you trust in the process and your vision, and you know that in the end, the result will be stunning, most likely different and very likely even better than your original idea.
I think alot of crafters and artists, like myself, can learn alot from that attitude. A project DOESN'T need to look good at every step. If we expect that, we severely limit our creativity and it makes us afraid to try new things out of fear of "destroying" our work. But it's ok to try out something. It's perfectly fine to do something and then later decide it's not what you want and remove it (like you did with the pearls, for example). What's important is that we TRY, without being afraid of failure. Going a bit off trail might just be the thing we need to take a project from merely satisfying to great.

Something that might help you is a little tool nail technicians use (I used to be one, in another life 🤣) is a wax tipped sort of pencil. You pick up your gems with them. It makes it very quick and easy, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen them on Amazon, but if you have trouble finding them let me know and I’ll look for you - sometimes it’s easier to find something when you know what you’re looking for, if that makes sense! I think youd find one very handy, and they’re only a couple of pounds or dollars, as the case might be 😂❤
