I see a lot of "winging it". Why not use real gauges to ensure you're at 1/16" instead of eye-balling it and guessing. In the manufacturing world, precision is a must.
Chris, a Vernier Caliper is the way to go no doubt, which I ofter use. After years of coupling fire hose testing your finish product always confirms our results. In the manufacturing world Chris, Monday Hose exist as well as Friday Hose!
