Nice explanation of the game, thanks for that! I have a question on which people on BGG couldn't agree: Imagine 2 characters on 1 mission. Character A uses their own assist card to assemble the dice pool (of course not able to use the assist ability). After character A has finished their turn, can character B still get character A's assist card or can character B only use their own assist card (again, without the assist ability). Thanks!
The way we understood it is that the decision to be assisted is made when the active hero is assembling their dice. There is no reference saying that if you chose not to be assisted that you can't assist another Hero at the location. As it’s written the active hero could chose to not be assisted and then could assist someone their own card later if the active Hero requests it. Personally we just played it that if you assisted someone you were also being assisted by them as it just felt more thematic to us as he characters were working together but the rules don’t specify this. We also liked the idea of having two powers instead of one.
Play 2 characters each at 2 players for sure. Solo maybe play as 4. (I also think this is a good solo game). I know a lot of people are elder sign vs x men mutant insurrection but as someone that doesn’t have elder sign (and doesn’t really like that theme) this is perfect for me. The game is extremely thematic too like you guys said. The bond system is really cool. There are some spots that feels like it needs an expansion to fill out. (Hope we get some!).
We will only each play as two characters from now on it doesn't really feel all that fun at just two players. We have Elder SIgn and like it as well even though both are similar the different themes items vs mutants etc. allows space for both. Hopefully we do get an expansion to flesh out a few of the holes in the game.
