Appreciate that you acknowledge just the nature of predators instead of villainizing them. Great video. Love the dig guard. Unlike stakes driven in the ground, they're also reusable.
Omg that's got to be the best, like you say one does not need a posh looking mini house for the chickens. plenty safe place to run around. Great job. 😃
Quick tip, chicken wire comes in 22 20 and 19gauge thickness, if youve had bad experience with it, you probably bought the cheaper 22 or 20gauge rolls. 19gauge is 1mm thick thats probably why hes had so much success with his. Hope this helps👍
my mum recently lost her chickens to a mr fox, she's absolutely heart broken as it was her first time keeping them. i'm determined to make an impenetrable coop, even if it means being a personal security guard
Unfortunately wire and bricks didn’t work to protect my hens this week 😢 I’m just going to pour a concrete slave as a base for the coop next time, making it impossible to dig it’s way in anyway. It dug in and broke the wire I had underneath and managed to move the bricks I had secured around the parameter.
@@MrOzzy281 This one did, granted it wasn’t non bendable wire, which I should have used, but I didn’t think it could break the wire I used. It was the same as the wire commonly used on bird aviaries, the type you can bend into shape. Lesson learn now though, next t8me, if there is a next time, it will be heavy duty wire like they use when they lay concrete.
@@FieldtoFarm_UK cool, mine got corrosion near the hole and where dog have scratched the plastic cover of it. It can be because we had it super tight like straight all around glasshouse. I bought fat one for chickens cuz we have like milion foxes around.
We have problems here in the states with predators breaking through chicken wire and killing all the chickens... not sure if its Opossums or Raccoons or what but they rip it right open. Also, we have predatory birds. All the fun here in the states 🤣😪
Unfortunately, chicken wire is only designed to keep chickens IN and not predators OUT. Chicken wire won't keep foxes out....a determined dog can even break through it! If you want to predator-proof a chicken run, you will need weldmesh. Also, as chickens are jungle birds, they like to go underneath bushes and other covered areas - they feel stressed out in the open.

The dangler....what a fabulous idea. Worth trying. Thanks
Great info thanks, I'm in Hertfordshire and just bought a crappy chicken coop for too much money so need to fox proof it

Does your business have a website to order products from?

How can a fox break wire?

They need shade
I doubt that fence will keep fox away tbh i had same and puppy went through it.
2 years no problems so far for this fence

We are lucky here in that regards, iv heard opossum can open doors!?
Love his voice but why is he whispering are chickens skittish?

After 10 years of chicken farming I can with certainty tell you chicken wire keeps foxes out
After more than 15 years of keeping chickens I can tell you that even a dog can get through chicken wire.
Mate iv literally had 3000 chickens behind wire with no foxes and my current pen featured zero dogs foxes or badgers and I have lots of all 3 here
@@FieldtoFarm_UK probably depends on location
@barbarafruitbat1245 youre right, I own two shiba inus and they managed to rip up the chicken wire
Have you still got your birds because that fence is NOT fox proof you'll find out soon enough!
