My husband brought home a DX7 II to work on. Our toddler loved that thing. One day it quit working. My son turned 13 this year and asked if he and Dad could tinker with it to get it going again. They did. Suddenly I hear "Jump" chords coming from the playroom. They got it working again! My son is so excited! He only ever wants to listen to 70's and 80's music. Soon I'm going to introduce him to my favorite band - Rush. Thanks for this video!
Some of the best 80’s synth bands never used a DX7… the sparkling, ultra-clean digital sounds would not have suited OMD for example, who preferred the Roland’s, Prophet 5, Korg, etc… and incorporated sampling with Emulators and Fairlight later.
Don’t ever comment much but I’ll make an exception here. Brilliantly done. As a keys player with a love for Whitney stuff and tines/ep/dyno this is probably the best playing/sounding on here. Got goose bumps. 😊
Say what you like about the DX7 but this video just goes to prove that 80s pop wouldn't have been anything like the same without it's vast influence.... and this is only the electric pianos 😮😮😮
very true. the DX7 was a real game changer. it had bigger brothers and a smaller brother (DX9) but the DX7 stood out among them all. it's bass lines and its harmonica are among the most used sounds in songs at that time.

Awesome video!!!!! DX7 and Minimoog 2 of the greatest keyboards ever made. Masser, David foster, not to even mention all the rock bands that used these 2 keyboards. Man you nailed all those songs… Thx for making video…

Deeply regret selling DX7. Waited on a list for 3 months when it first came out to get mine. Later got the E! upgrade which was also fab. Played it for 20 years + and sold it. I miss the action of the keyboard - light and fast and sensitive and of course the sounds…
I love the sound of three of these tunes (“Greatest Love of All”; “Saving All my Love for You”; “Never Gonna Let You Go”) on the DX7. Weren’t they originally performed on a Rhodes piano, not a synthesizer? I don’t mind being proved mistaken.
It was a modified Rhodes piano, not a stock one! Dyno-My-Piano modified Rhodes sounded much sweeter! They did use DX7 on tours, and probably later studio albums.
Dexed is great, i think you can load the same patches which i use here on my Dx7, they don’t sound as full as in the original though but they are pretty close

Hi, thanks for this moment of happyness ! Wich patches do You use ? I have an original DX7 with all factory patches and I don't have those. They are fabulous !
"Never Gonna let You Go" by Sergio Mendes was released before The DX7 came out and actually sounds like a Fender Rhodes. Nice playing though. Keep up the good work. I've learned quite a bit from your videos. I wish you'd do tutorials.
@@NicolasMelis I'm interested in learning lot of these songs because you seem to play them so accurately. It's easer to follow when there's an on-screen keyboard that shows which notes are being played. Otherwise it's sometimes hard to tell. Thanks.
