"To Kill A Mockingbird" was just alright for me. I know some people who absolutely loved it, and while I personally appreciated all the great messages, I didn't connect with it as much as I wanted to. That's the thing with classics - some of them turn up increadible and all-time favorites, while some of them worth reading just to know what they are about, but you wouldn't want to reread them over and over again.

I get Leonie's confusion - in my native language we use different words for indoor slippers and outdoor slippers, so much so that you don't even think of them as variations of the same shoes, and instead as two different types of shoes.

For me it’s not that I get distracted by new releases, I get distracted by classics. I always want to read new releases but I’m so busy reading classics and my backlist next thing I know the new releases are the backlist snd the back list is classics 😂

To Kill a Mockingbird is a really great book and it’s one of my all time faves! Maybe it’s because I read it as a teenager that’s why it left such a huge impact on me but still I think it’s a worthwhile read. Hope you get to reading it soon! 😊

leonie and i are becoming more and more similar these days 😂 I also really love listening to ambient music while reading and also while working, I usually go for the scary, creepy ones though like playlists created by Cryo Chamber. Also scented candles! 💖
Monstress is one of my all time favorite graphic novels.
I wish I was as skilled with putting on eyeshadow as some people are, but I hardly ever apply any makeup at all, so I‘m really not experienced hh
"Howl's Moving Castle' is in my Top 3 Favourite Books of all time. (Actually 1 and 2 are Jane Eyre and The Silmarillion!). It is very very different from the film, but one of the few cases where I love the book and film equally because of their differences. The book is SO funny. Howl and Sophie has the most fantastic chemistry, especially since they are usually at loggerheads with each other. The writing is also incredibly clever - Diana Wynne Jones was a master storyteller. She is my favourite author. I really hope you enjoy it when you eventually get round to it. :)

The app is called Notion! She did a separate video on it that was super fun to watch. You should check it out, I ended up downloading it after seeing how she used it, hope this helped :)

Hello Leonie. Think you should give a try to graphic novel Saga; quite popular but i think it has every merit for it, personally prefer that art concept. Still haven't gone through volume 2 and 3, but found the first with a story quite fresh and gorgeous creative illustration. See you and happy Autumn

I had the same sort of feelings toward Mexican Gothic! In April I read another book written by the same author and did not enjoy it because of the writing style, so I was extremely (like: Extremely) sceptical about picking this one up. When I started it I was a bit meh but as you said it slowly builds itself up and ends up being such an atmospheric and entertaining read!
yes exactly! i haven't read any of her other books but i will say i wasn't a huge fan of the writing style in this one

Haha felt you about Emily in Paris, I watched the whole show in 2 days (oops 😋) and thought to dress pretty and go to a walk outside BUT... when I got out with the mask on in 34°c (at the evening) the magic completely disappeared haha

Watch the 2005 adaptation of Hitchhiker's Guide (with Martin Freeman), if you like it, you're gonna like the book. It's a very specific type of humour and it either works for you or it doesn't. :)

The 100 is on Netflix and totally a show you would enjoy, it's right up your alley and it's really good.

ASMR rooms/ambiance is THE move! I also can't listen to music whilst reading, so these videos are perfect!
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who struggled with Mexican Gothic - some times I thought I might be too critical, then the next page would have another dollop of bad writing. Ended up with 2 stars, because the ending was kind of neat, but didn't make up for the numerous times I almost DNF'ed. Only didn't because it was my book of the month and I'd paid money.
And Amen on the ANSR ambiance channels on here. Like you, I can't have music on if I'm reading - also when writing - but even if I am doing something hobbyish with music I will have it on.

Personally I feel no need to do Lord of the Rings, even though I do like fantasy. I have read the HObbit and it was good, but every time I tried The Fellowship of the Ring, I got to page 77 and it had nothing to get me on, I felt ill from it, etc. And I lvoe calssic novels, it had nothing to do with the word choice. It is even more regupnant to me now that from the sounds of it women have almost zero involvement in it, if any at all.
One Hundred Years of Solitude is AMAZING. No matter how you feel earlier, I promise you that the ending is 10/10.

Woo I’m interested to know what you think of Jane Austin’s books! I never read because I felt intimidated by them and there’s a lot of books i prioritized but i feel like if you end up loving them it’ll be a huge push to start :)

You’re the first person I've heard of who actually likes Emily is Paris. I'm watching it with some friends and we're just laughing at how terrible it is, especially her outfits. Can you give some perspective on what you like about it? Cause I genuinely don’t get it, and I want to understand what its appeal is supposed to be
I always find it funny that, while many people struggle to get to their backlist TBR because of all the new releases, it can take me YEARS to get to a newer release I really do want to read because of other, older books out there that have been on my mind for longer. And thus the bookish behaviours vary lol.

Mexican Gothic was the same for me.....I had to really push through the first half and once I hit a little past the halfway mark it FLEW by! I ended up really enjoying it!! That skirt is so freaking cute!! Love your vlogs so much!!!
Are you sure your skirt is satin? It looks more like velvet or velour to me (and that you can just put in your washing machine)!
I highly recommend Hitchhiker's Guide!! I read it for the first time this year and normally I don't like science-fiction but I absolutely loved this one - it's so quirky and strange and absolutely hilarious, I laughed out loud so much while reading it (also the audio books are read by Martin Freeman and they are literal perfection)
Hey, I just wanted to say that in my opinion 100 years of solitude was very boring and confusing while Love in the time Cholera by the same author was amazing!! So if you want, you can keep an eye on this one as well. Anyways, love your video as usual 🤍🤍🥰
