I like how this song is about getting disillusioned with life as you get older, losing that part of yourself you had as a kid and becoming bitter and cold. I can relate to that.

After growing up you kind of appreciate Metallica branching out. I used to be one of those thrash elitists that thought "80s Metallica is the only real Metallica", but now that I've listened through Black and Load, I now realise that musical expansion is important. Now, sometimes they got a little too "experimental," namely Nothing Else Matters, Hero of the Day, and Mama Said. I think if they did those really soft songs as a sort of side project, not under the Metallica name, they would have gotten much less flak
I just wish they had the sound they used to have... They changed their tone and it fucking sucks now. It's full of base and warm chords. It used to be sharp and heavy with a lot of gain, very little mid tones. I wish they would listen to people and just go back to that amazing sound everybody fell in love with. I don't care what song they make I just want them to sound like themselves.. I hate every live performance after 1999. AND BRING BACK JASON NEWSTED PLEASEEEEE !!! Since Robert the bassist arrived their sound fcking changed. SAD BUT TRUE
just mettalica as it is cuz its still that fokin band that we all enjoy whatever they have(except lulu)it has that something to it that i love it for even songs u named are wonderful and have meaning under them i think they deserve to be under mettalica name,as cliff himself once said "we cant play 1000 miles per hour all the time" and he was so right with those words if u always stick to one thing eventually you'll get bored of it and thats why u need to change something,wish yall a nice day :))

For me, ride the lighting through the black album is some of the best music ever recorded. Honestly just don't like the rest of metallicas songs
