Time for another ensemble solo now, featuring the trombone section. Trombonists come in for a fair amount of flak in the brass world, in fact it is often said that a gentleman is someone who knows how to play the trombone, but doesn’t….
However, aside from the obvious comedy turns, trombones work very effectively as a close harmony trio. The piece they are going to play for you was written by Stole, Roma and Plante and originally recorded in 1963 by Little Peggy March.
It was later made much more famous following the release of the 1992 film Sister Act, starring Whoopi Goldberg. A tale of nuns, gambling and corruption, the song features at the end of the film when the convent play host to the Pope himself.
