Mr. Sandman is a popular song written by Pat Ballard which was published in 1954 and first recorded in that same year by The Chordates, a female a cappella group, that is singing in close harmony and unaccompained.
The song's lyrics convey a request to "Mr. Sandman" to "bring me a dream" - the traditional association with the folkloric figure, the sandman who brings good dreams to people by sprinkling magic sand on their eyes as they sleep.
Our arrangement is for cornet trio and flugel horn, which you I stated in a previous concert was German for Fat Trumpet. I got told off by Melanie, our flugel player for this afterwards, and having checked, she is right - Flugel Horn is, of course, German for FLAT trumpet.
Our Chordettes this evening are Alison, Mel, Michael and Tim.
