Thanks for the comment! We create these videos as kinda a fun hobby and it shows in the outtakes. If you guys like the end result, that is certainly a bonus! Now the 10 hrs I spent editing..... that's another story.
I have seen every review on youtube about the 1500 Denali, and so far you guys are the best and knock it out of the park everytime. Clear, concise, and comprehensive. Thanks for all your input. Just waiting for my lease to finally end so I can pull the trigger on a 1500 Sierra Denali carbon pro!
Pro tailgate puts the others to shame, rear bumper steps, extra wide bed, AC outlet in the bed and cabin, 12, (yes 12) welded in place bed tie-downs plus 6 optional tie-down spots, storage behind the rear seats (tire pump, hand guns), storage under the rear seats, full size spare..plus the GMC cheaper than the others even in the Denali trim (heads up display, surround camera vibrating seat alerts (instead of a chime))...best value by far. UPDATE: I bought a loaded SLT with the STANDARD size bed. With the gate down and the "step" flipped up 4' x 8' drywall and plywood will fit FLAT on the bed with 2 inches of clearance between the wheel wells and about 5 inches of clearance between the back of the bed and the flipped up step. With the AC outlet in the bed we can cut our pieces right at the truck if we need to. Just an awesome truck so far.
I know this is an older video, however I just purchased a used 2019 Denali Ultimate, and came across your 2017 and 2019 Denali videos. Love your videos. As you have used these trucks quite a bit, I was wondering if you have any suggestions on what you used to keep all the exterior chrome looking great...and any suggestion on what to use on the interior materials to keep them looking fresh? Thank you.
we normally just use foam guns on the exterior including the chrome... they still look brand new. on the leather interior, we use Meguiars Leather treatment and the surfaces still look new. go light on the seat backs and seats so it doesnt clog the ventilation holes for the seat heaters. Really got to hand it to GMC... their interior leather really holds up well. It may not be quite as nice looking as the Ram but it seems for durable.
@@Fulloctanegarage Thank you for the tips and advice, It's really appreciated. I know people gush over the Ram's interior, which does look amazing. That being said, I'm more than happy with the interior of my GMC, and I personally love the exterior look of the Denali vs the Ram's. Obviously everyone's tastes are different. Thanks again!
they feel awesome, Joni! they have no issue stopping the truck. The accident avoidance braking has probably saved me once or twice also. very good system.
Thanks for understanding my humour. I live in Back-Of-Beyond Saskatchewan and cars just don't cut it here. Heard GM quality is going down while Ford's is up? Ideas???
They are offered on the earlier models I know but they were super expensive. I kinda like driving around with regular mirrors and just adding the extensions ( th-cam.com/video/qrA4OXXBmp0/w-d-xo.html ) so I dont have to worry about accidentally hitting something with them.
Tow mirrors typically are extended for towing and retracted the rest of the time. I don't like those dorky extenders as they are hard to adjust and then they go out of adjustment very easily.
It's a nice truck. However, Sierra Premium package is enough for me. Save $6,000 but still got what I need. got a bad experience with moon roof, so I try not to get a moon roof again.
Interior absolutely kills it for me, have always loved the look of GMC's, especially the Denali but my goodness they dropped the ball on the interior. The 6.2 with the 10spd is a sweet combo that I would love to have but you spend most of your time sitting in the vehicle and if that is a disappointment then it's a no go for me. I don't need a 12" screen like Ram but nicer materials would be great.
I absolutely hate the 22 inch wheels. And don't get me wrong, they look great, but in my mind, a truck should have the ability to use its capability. It has a nice ground clearance and I absolutely feel like 20 inch wheels should be the maximum in order to have some "meat" that prevents damage if you hit something. Other than than, I think I would rather go for an AT4 plus package and get the 6.2 engine in there. Not sure about the stock wheel size on that one though, but it probably is around 18 inches and that makes me feel way better about a big truck
No special deals for the videos (but give us a call GMC... LOL) but we do get good deals because we buy a lot of trucks... 4 Denalis and 2 Canyons in the last couple of years... and because they are just great people to work with. We usually buy at the end of December, we pay cash and we have bought 2 at a time a few times. keeps us in a good negotiating position.
Enjoyed the video trying to learn the features that changed on the 2019. I just picked up a White Frost Tricoat on 12-14-19. Over 15k off MSRP on the 2019 Denalis right now. This 2019 is a BIG upgrade from the old style trucks. (Traded in a 18 Denali Ultimate)
Features lost on new 2019 T1xx generation vs 2014-2018 K2xx generation. Adjustable pedals Shoulder Adjustable seat belts over the door grab handles (all 4) Side mirror turn signals (in glass) Inside door handle lights Console sunglass holder Rear door sill metal inserts (Denali, AT4) Bose speaker chrome trim (front) Leather wrapped gear shift (Denali) Aluminum trim on dash ends Fuel tank is now 24 gallons vs 26.
Wow, the interior looks like base rental car level to include gauge cluster, nav screen and tiny sunroof. The front end looks nice but the tailgate is kind of gimmick-y.
The truck seems amazing!!! but... it has something that I did not like, the graphics on the cluster plus the digital gauges are not good.... :( the 2018 had better gauges and you can customized those too, I think you can do the same in the new but the ones you show in your video are not good.
crap... we almost made it a week b4 the 1st "old guy" comment. So close... lol. Thanks for watching and the comment! there is a 60', 63 split window and a c7 in the garage. The 63' build is about to go full steam.. ( had to sacrifice one of the 911s to speed it up... sad days) videos coming soon!
@@djsixto62 yes, we had a 2008 crewmax limited that I had up to 2015 when I changed to a GMC diesel. Really liked the truck but a couple of things. On my truck in 2 or 4 high you could not disable traction control and my fuel mileage stunk. the last time we looked there was not much of an upgrade in drivetrain and V8 over the years.
Beautiful mean looking truck, the interior tho wt the hell. I dnt like rams but their interior is damn gorgeous ram really killed every trucks interior
The Ram looks so much nicer and outdoes the GMC in all levels. Ram takes the win and Truck of the Year. If GMC had less plastic headlight look and nicer interior, they would score a few more points, but all in all dash and nav are old looking engineering.
Sorry but the RAM exterior is horrible looking but it definitely has the best interior of any truck currently available. I looked at every truck out there when retiring my 2016 F150 and almost bought a fully loaded Laramie but ended up with a Sierra Denali. The price was lower, the 6.2 is an incredible engine, and I use the multi pro tailgate daily and it’s really nice to have. However, GM needs to up their game when it comes to being competitive like offering a panoramic roof, adjustable pedals, larger infotainment screen, auto park assist, power tilt / telescopic wheel, auto sensing wipers, adjustable multi-level center console storage, rear ventilated seats, and air suspension. All of those features are available on the RAM but the power plants on the RAM stink. So it’s truly a decision based on what drives the best for you, what fits your budget, and what you must have and don’t need when it relates to features.
I own a 2019 Denali 6.2 and have put about 5,000 miles on it. Although my previous Denali that had a 4/8 cylinder deactivation engine management system had a 26 gallon tank this new truck with it's variable 2 thru 8 cylinder random deactivation system has achieved 24.7 mpg on highway use. That is in New England so it is not flat road terrain by any means. My combined around town/highway use is just shy of 20 mpg. So I would not be that concerned with tank capacity. I did have the GM performance exhaust installed and a high flow K&N air filter too (just the filter, not the plenum/filter kit). Combined output is up around 442HP and the exhaust note sounds throaty on start-up and under acceleration. It is a low rumble at cruising speed without any annoying howl. I would recommend these upgrades to anyone.
I love the exterior, however I'm disappointed in the interior. Not much different from the 18's, and the 18' interior is very bland for that much money.
6.2L has the 22in wheels vs the 20in yours has. That is 1 of a few upgrades over 5.3.. Great video. Outtakes worth waiting for.

Good vid guys!! Two over the hill dudes, just like me, pointing out what's good, new, and better. I found it helpful. Thanks.
Dennis Challinor lol... you have summed us up in one sentence!
Outtakes!! But the entire video is excellent. Thanks for the great info on this great truck.
I just bought a 2018 one, wish there had been a 2019 for sale around here but hells I couldn't find any.

Finally two average dudes doing a video. Thank you guys this was an outstanding video.
Thanks Man!
Noticed they move the mirrors on to the door body and of the corner of the window.
how do the POWER brakes FEEL ?
it now has Fixed 4 Piston Calipers vs the 2 Piston Floating + Electric Parking ?Brake

I want to know why you can't get tow mirrors on the 1500, even with the Max Tow package. Ford and Ram certainly have them.
They are offered on the earlier models I know but they were super expensive. I kinda like driving around with regular mirrors and just adding the extensions ( th-cam.com/video/qrA4OXXBmp0/w-d-xo.html ) so I dont have to worry about accidentally hitting something with them.

They will be available on 2020 models. The 2020HD has the new tow mirrors if you want to see what they look like. Finally power extend!
Can you tell me if this truck has hill assist like in the 2014 model?
sorry about the delay... yes i does!
Bunch of OUTTAKES at the end and look for Melissa in the middle... Curt and I (the 2 old guys...)are in it all the way thru.... lol
Yes... seems to be better for towing also.
Which one gets better MPG's the 2018 or the 2019?
They are about the same although I have squeezed 27mpg hyper mileing on the way to work. normall, they are both around 18 to 20mpg for the 6.2
Excellent review.
Thanks Marvin... the comments really help!
It's a nice truck. However, Sierra Premium package is enough for me. Save $6,000 but still got what I need. got a bad experience with moon roof, so I try not to get a moon roof again.
I think that is a fair alternative and probably more fiscally responsible.
what happened with the the soon roof?
Great video, thanks!
Thanks Jake! that means a lot!
Just a quick correction: The 2016 Denali had the running board button to extend it to the wheels like seen in this video.
thanks!
Beautiful truck

Looks very similar the new Rams. Especially with that badge on the side near the hood.
Shawn Burrier we would love to get a Ram for a bit to check it out!
Yass!! If you review one make sure its the limited👌🏻 it rivals the Denali
Take a bow good sir!

Do you guys get a huge discount from G.M.for the reviews you do, or do you have to pay pretty much what the rest of us have to pay.

Yes the exterior is amazing but the damn interior looks like it’s stuck in 2005😒
definitely a personal preference on the exterior... took me a bit to get used to the new lights but they are growing on me ...

I love the exterior, however I'm disappointed in the interior. Not much different from the 18's, and the 18' interior is very bland for that much money.
👍
22" wheels are/were the worst idea ever. Ride is horrible. Glad to see 20's on this one.
all they're doing is making them bigger, 2020 model is going to be an 18 wheeler.
lol... there is something to this...
$60,000 for a $30,000 interior..... not impressed
Get me a huge discount from Darrell waltrip's & I will buy one too., cause i am too a Tennessee boy .
LOL... there are certainly deals to be had on the 2018! I dont think there is anything available for the 2019 yet.
previous model looks better , the 19 looks nice but...trying too hard to be a ford
lol... we hear that alot!
Full Octane Garage still a nice truck though
Sorry but the 2019 Ram 1500 has this beat. GMC should ashamed of themselves for putting that interior on a truck that cost almost $70,000.00!!
GMC Sierra!!!! Denali is simply the trim level. Had to stop watching after the 5 th...GMC Denali” 🤦♂️
I mean…yeah. But you don’t tell someone when they ask what you drive it’s a Sierra….they would think I’m poor. So I say Denali first then Sierra
