I agree with the comments below about the rules on resetting the field. For the first lap to count u understand the whole field passing. But when a yellow flies if u made a pass n crossed the start finish line u should get that position. I'm all for the getting back to the start finish line for the position to count. But jade hit that start finish before the yellow. She shoulda been given that position. Good run Jade.
We changed the rules to revert to the previous lap for driver safety and to ease the strain on scorers. There is no good reason to move away from it. There will be times that you lose a position because a wreck occurs. Deal with it. There are tons of times when you are completely taken out of a race through no fault of your own. That's the nature of racing.
I feel for McDermand, painful way to lose that one. He's rarely involved in shenanigans like a lot of the other super aggressive midget drivers are and has always been a class act in how he handles things from what I've seen, easy to root for.
You have to give her credit, she wasn't tucking in and following, she was making a line work where nobody was. Awesome drive by this young woman. She won't be on dirt much longer. She's exciting, a great driver, and she has a look sponsors will push each other out the way to get in line for. Think "Danica Patrick" but a better driver. Good luck Miss Jade! :)
I've seen a ton of tracks have bad ruts in them but, DAMN!! This track had a supercross triple jump in the corner! Shows how tough the cars and the drivers are. I wouldn't want to have their lower backs in 20 years though. Brutal.
Jade was second when the yellow came out but had to restart 3rd. I realize that they go back to the last completed lap, but that kinda screwed her. USAC should change their rules. If you pass someone under green the position change should count whether the lap counts or not.
Absolutely. It should be that restarting goes in the order of the moment the lights go orange. I mean it's not like modern technology with multiple camera angles can't discern each cars relative position. The previous lap order system sounds like an archaic pre-technological anachronism.

The time it takes to clear the track and get the stalled cars restarted, aught to be plenty of time besides it doesn't need to just be down to the human perception of human scorers, but the actual position of each car relative to the other could be a trivial measurement if only a tiny amount was invested in the necessary electronics. They could just as easily have the updated position of each car as the light goes yellow, as the order they each passed the line on the previous lap. You're underestimating the state of the art in relevant technology and over estimating the fairness of the existing antiquated system. Sometimes you have to rattle the cage to make the monkey dance.

I'm not one to bitch about track conditions that much. Its dirt and it doesn't always turn out right, but that was a terrible track.

It was inevitable with the amount of rain the track got Friday and Saturday. They were lucky they even got to run Sunday.
