Yeah... Grand Diviner literally makes everyone useless. Okay, as a seasoned player of both the original SNES game and the Remake, let me tell you the best classes for each character and why. For Duran, it's no doubt Edelfrei. His light classes just pale in comparison to any other class in the game that gives you healing spells and his ability to soak up damage is not that useful either, since the game just isn't that hard at all. Same problem applies to healers in general tho. The game is on it's hardest difficulty so easy that you can comfortably walk through it just with healing items. Edelfrei is a tiny lil bit weaker in raw power than the Duelist, but instead of just adding the not so useful dark saber to his normal elemental sabers and thats it, the Edelfrei instead gets his elemental sabers upgraded to hit the entire team AND he gets the very, VERY useful moon and leaf saber which absorb HP and MP on hit, respectively. This makes the Edelfrei one of the best buff classes in the game for any physical damage dealers and he doubles as a powerful physical attacker himself. Edelfrei Duran has an excellent synergy with Kevin for obvious reasons. Angela has two classes which are worth mentioning. The Magus is no doubt the damage king and THE most damage dealing class in the entire game. She sacrifices her own and the teams HP in order to deal maximum damage with her spells and she also gets the strongest, neutral elemental spell in the game. But she does not just sacrifice the teams HP when casting, she also has MP problems and you need to constantly feed her nuts if you want to keep casting. The Grand Diviner has much needed MP regeneration and is the quality of life class that you might want. She features AoE versions of the strongest tier of elemental spells and also has a decent neutral elemental ultimate spell. She obviously does not reach the Magus's damage output potential, but she is much easier to handle and manage in a party, so if you're inexperienced and/or just wanna cast the everyday monsters away, thats the class for you. Kevins best classes are two different ones. The Fatal Fist is without any doubt whatsoever the strongest physical damage dealer in the game. He loves receiving buffs from other party members and then decimates everything with his insane dps and his absolute mad class strikes. He can buff himself uniquely for critical hit rate which synergizes very well with his skill Broken Lines 2 and 3, which debuff an enemies defense with a 60% or 90% chance whenever he gets a crit on them. Very destructive, just buff him up, give him elemental sabers and he'll wreck everything like a boss. The other class worth mentioning is the Warrior Monk. This is a very solid healer class that also doubles as a very strong and useful physical damage dealer. Not as strong as his Fatal Fist class of course, but it's still Kevin and you'll soon find that he can very well compare to the likes of dark Duran in terms of damage output. He gets Healing Light+ which heals everyone in the party AND he can give everyone the very useful Leaf Saber with the ability Attack Saber 2, which boosts the attack rating of the receiver of his Saber by 25%. This gives him and his chosen teammates virtually unlimited MP. Noteworthy is also, that this class is perfect for covering up Angelas Magus because he helps make her biggest downsides much more manageable while still being a solid fighter by himself. Charlotte is a dedicated full Healer and Supporter, in exchange for not being great at taking and causing damage. She obviously has huge problems in this game, because she might be player-friendly and intuitive to use and she gets the full party heal earlier than everyone else, but she will inevitably drag the team down in terms of damage output. That said, her most alround useful class is the Sage class which gets access to multi target elemental sabers to buff up the party and make her physical damage companions able to strike elemental weaknesses without a hassle. Although her High Cleric class can fill some specific niches with her skills while still having elemental sabers for single targets. The light saber can be very helpful against certain enemies, including a post game superboss, her Magic Shield is a unique buff that halves magic damage taken for one ally and stacks with other buffs that enhance magic attack and defense and Undead Away can deal 999 nonelemental damage to all undead targets, given that Charlottes level is equal or higher than the targets level. Accidentally, two of Charlottes own story bosses happen to be an undead. Charlottes dark classes are usable as well, in case you don't need elemental sabers and wanna deal some smaller magic damage with her, but Charlottes light paths are almost always preferable. Hawkeye has two classes that stick out. His Ninja Master class gets multi target debuffs which double as a mediocre elemental magic attack and these are true multi target spells that hit every enemy on the screen, no matter their positions, contrary to Angelas spells which got nerfed a bit by just being AoE attacks now in the remake. Ninja Master is a debuffer with mediocre physical and magical damage. It sounds kinda bad, but his usefulness is pretty high, do not underestimate him. The second class that i can highly recommend with Hawkeye is the Rogue, who has non-elemental and some elemental spells which work kinda similar to Angelas single target spells, so he is a dps character who uses MP to kill things quickly. So if you don't want to debuff your enemies, this class will work wonders in murdering single targets. Riesz has two classes which stick out, but one of them is objectively much better than the other one. Riesz is a supporting character who gets either straight up stat buffs for her team or stat debuffs against enemies. She also deals mediocre physical damage and can summon one monster per class that deals mediocre magic damage in a big area. Depending on your first class change, you'll get buffs on the light side and debuffs on the dark side, and depending on your second class change, those buffs and debuffs are either single target or get upgraded to multi target. Since multi targeting removes a TON of spellcasting time without big disadvantages, these two classes are much preferrable to the single target ones. Starlancer is the class that gets the multi target buffs and Fenrir Knight gets the multi target debuffs. But you can safely say that buffing your own party is usually much more worth than debuffing enemies, so Starlancer it is in 95% of all times. Fenrir Knight gets the better costume and hits a bit harder and thats it. Riesz other two classes are extremely bad and should not be taken, unless you wanna make the game deliberately harder for yourself. So that's it. In short, the best classes for each character are: Duran: Edelfrei Angela: Magus or Grand Diviner Kevin: Fatal Fist or Warrior Monk Charlotte: Sage Hawkeye: Ninja Master or Rogue Riesz: Starlancer If you wanna be most effective, try combining these classes to get synergies. Starlancer Riesz pretty much makes every possible party just objectively better with her buffs. Her overall usefulness is unbeaten. Angela and Kevin are the best damage dealers, Angela magical and Kevin physical. If you, for some reason, really want the best healer in the game, pick Charlotte, but once you get the hang of it, you will realize that you don't really need her, UNLESS you happen to want a multi target heal for a good reason AND need elemental sabers in which her Sage class excels. Otherwise, you're better off either taking Warrior Monk Kevin who doubles as a good physical damage dealer or simply not taking a healer at all because healing items are kinda broken.
I would like to hear about a second Charlotte class, btw. I'm about to play the game and kinda wanna consider two classes for everyone. So far, it's Edelfrei or Liege Duran, Magus or Grand Diviner Angela, Warrior Monk or Fatal Fist Kevin, Starlancer or Fenrir Knight Reisz and Ninja Master or Rogue Hawkeye.
@@redmagelala Well for Charlotte, it's either Sage or High cleric if you want her to buff your party with sabers or you can go dark path with her to cast some offensive spells, in case you already do have dark path Duran in your Party. High Cleric kinda sucks tbh because her niche spells are not worth it, just get the party wide sabers not just for your convenience but to reduce time casting them and save MP. If you go dark path with Charlotte, you probably want to go Necromancer over Warlock because Dark Curse is a very solid debuff.
@@redmagelala I only play on "hard" difficulty cause anything else feels like super baby mode to me. I played the original Snes game - Seiken Densetsu 3 a lot on emulator. And that game was a good bit more difficult without having an option to change the difficulty at all. So thanks to countless playthroughs of that, i've got a lot of experience in making teams not just work, but excel. Some things changed a tiny bit with the equippable skills and the class passives, but nothing too meaningful. Also, whats new is very easy to grasp and understand.
Never played an "of Mana" game, but this looks pretty cool. Anyone got any suggestions on if this is a good starting point or if I should try one of the others first?
Yeah, just in case you still weren't sure... this is the best remake of an older game I've ever seen. It's aesthetically gorgeous throughout, fascinating and replayable because of the character and class systems, and just super fun and addictive on a base gameplay level, because the action is so engaging and it's just super fun to watch your two AI party members (you can always switch control, or give single direct commands to them) use all their neat looking abilities while you play your part. It definitely isn't something where you have to do all the heavy lifting, you could do nothing and just watch your other party members kill everything if you chose to for some reason, so you always feel in the middle of something bigger despite it being single player. You won't regret getting it, I can almost promise you : )
@@jedgrahek1426 It also fixes all the issue of the original like not being able to run during battle, and the multiple glitches that were existing ( that they never boter to fix in the Collection of Mana).
Very good list. I would like to see ninjamaster in top tier, because with his ninjitsu and pasives he can rack up cs very fast (per hit, and jinjitsu are multihit), so working very good as a debuffer and dps. Pair him with starlancer and duran swordmaster, and you will have a lot of sinergy and a fun team to use. There is little to no overlap. Also this team free time to control your main dps, without worrying too much about your companions. Also, is a shame that status effect doesnt work on bosses... I know it is clearly suboptimal, but maybe someday i will try no future with a necromancer (strong status effects) paired with angela (effect boost all, +30%chance of status effect)... Just to try to make status works haha
@@nesoukkefka1741 Is it really true that Nightblade debuffs straight up don't work on bosses? I just finished a playthrough with one and it sure seemed like he was able to get red icons to show up on bosses... was it truly just the one chain ability my Starlancer was using that had a chance of debuffing magic on critical hits, that was soley responsible for every time I saw that on a boss, because the Nightblade just cannot do it ever period? I mean, if I was able to do that, doesn't that show that status effects can work on bosses, anyway? Because I saw status debuffs on everything, Anise, Black Rabite, didn't matter.
@@jedgrahek1426 No his debuff through his elemental spells works on everything, unless the target is immune to the corresponding element). What doesn't work against bosses are his statut effects (Poison, Burn....etc....), which is to bad for Nightblade cause it means a lot of his ability are useless against bosses, there is still ways to makes him good against bosses, but he loses his main gimmick against them.
@@jprec5174 Actually if you have Angela then Nightblade become the best debuffer for her on NG+, cause on top of stacking the Riesz's passive Nightblade odly also has Magic Def Down All I ability, reducing the magic defense even further. And if you ready to play risky, Reactionnary is a chain ability he can give to Angela for a massive 30% Magic Attack increase at low health, in fact if you're willing to play low HP Angela then even in NG this is the only scenario in which Riesz isn't the best debuffer, as Magic Def Down All + Reactionnary with regular debuff give an higher damage boost to Angela than Fenrir Knight's ehanced debuff (until you reach Class 4 at least where Riesz catch up with Bad Luck II).
I would also recommend Duran and Reisz, I completely obliterate with the magic buff abilities they get, combined with the high health they get to fuel my wound abilities, on top of Reisz having stat boosting moves combined with Durans tanky healing, makes my Angela nightmare fuel for bosses.
Kevin, Duran and Riesz go Dark with all 3 and for Class 3 Fatal Fist with Kevin, Edelfrei with Duran and Fenrir Knight with Riesz. Stack Riesz's enhanced debuff, Edelfrei's Sabers (with his abilities to increase attack power) and it turns Fatal Fist into a real killing machine (be sure to fight at night for Wolf Form). And this is the speedrun team by the way XD
@@nesoukkefka1741 I am just starting and want to try what you recommend here. What do I do stats wise for this team. Never played game like this before
@@tjcool5541 So to put it simply : Riesz Fenrir Knight : You want to invest in priority in Spirit and Intelligence, Spirit is where she learn her debuff spells and Intelligence where she learn the passive ability that increase said debuffs, after that you want to invest in Luck for the ability Bad Luck which add a random chance to make the debuff even more potent. Duran Edelfrei : Spirit to learns his Saber Spells, then Strength to learn Attack Saber I and II and Offensive Stance, after that either Luck to get his Critical Abilities or INT where he can learn abilities to increase damage when striking elemental weaknesses. Kevin Fatal Fist : Spirit for Moon Energy, Luck for Critical Damage and then Strength for Finishing Blow.
Nomad Shit Tier ? I'm sorry but no way in hell, please inform yourself before doing a tier list, or at least try the class seriously : -Transshape and Magic Mirror are 2 amazing defensive buff, that can effectivly allow you to deal damage with your main without a care in the world. Also on No Future the highest difficulty in the game the Magic Mirror becomes broken, since the damage reflected are based on the ennemy's magic and they're increase by up to 20 in No Future (and reflected damage ignore elemental resistance just in case you think reflecting spell of elemental bosses is useless), it effectivly become the highest damage possible on any boss that can cast AoE magic (which is pretty much all of them). -Moon Energy and Nature Aura are great offensive buffs and the Nomad is the only class in the game to get both of them at the same time. So as you can see Nomad isn't a "gimmick" class it's a full on support class and the best support on No Future hand down.... OH did I mention it can get the highest crit rate and crit damage and therefore be the best melee class for Hawkeye ? Also I'm sick of this misinformation : -Riez's Dark Class are NOT overshadow by Ninja !!! In fact it's the opposite there is no reason to pick Ninja because of Riesz, unless you're in NG+ in which case you can transfer Dark Riesz's pasive abilities to Ninja to profit of them right from Class 2. The reason Ninja is overclass by Riesz, Ninja only give the standard 20% debuff, however with her abilities Fenrir Knight can upgrade her debuff into a 39% debuff and this is massive, due to the way the game calculate damage a 20% defense reduction will give you a 25% damage increase, while 39% Defense reduction will give you a 63% damage increase so over the Double what Ninja give and it's permanent, also same thing for Fenrir Knight VS Necromancer. And by the way this is also why Fenrir Knight is better than Starlancer, the Debuff in this game have much more impact than Buff, on top of that Starlancer require 5 abilities accross 3 stats tree to fully build while Fenrir Knight only requires 3 abilities accross 2 stats tree for a better end result, Starlancer is litterally more work for a less optimal result. Do I really need to say why Riesz's Fenrir Knight is an easy S Tier ? There is litteraly NO other classes that can increase the damage of the entire team and all kind of damage more than the Fenrir Knight, the only exception being for Angela's Magic Damage in which case Nightblade can increase it more which require to play a low HP set with Angela. Also tired of Gran Diviner overrating, if you want to go Light Archmage is Angela best class, she focus on boss killing with her Judge abilities which is what you want as mob are to easy for optimal damage increase, the Damage increase of Archmage are actually higher on bosses than Gran Diviner, and before someone throw that argument, yes Grand Diviner has an higher base magic which gives her..... not even 1% more damage si not enough to make up for Archmage higher damage increase and the magic of the Class 4 will be the same no matter which class you choose as your Class 3, when you dive in the mechanic there's really not much reason to pick Gran Diviner over Archmage. And to be fair Expert and No Future probably deserver Tier of their own, like in Expert ennemies Magic Defense is multiply by 6 while their Physical Defense is only multiply by 3 this severely reduce Angela's ability and makes her a pretty poor choice for Expert, and on the other hand Hawkeye's Rogue stole her spot as the best "spell" caster in expert since his spells goes against physical defense, so they don't suffer as much as Angela and he gain access to the Fellow Bond that give +50 Luck and his Luck base spell scales a lot more with Luck than Angela's with her INT so that +50 Luck may look small but it gives him a Huge boost.
Nomad is god tier in expert/no future. I paired Nomad hawkeye with fenrir reisz and warlock charlotte for massive debuffing and nomad hawkeye just obliterates everything on his own.
@@jprec5174 I think Rogue is better in Expert, and there is better class than Nomad, on No Future yeah he is really god tier with all his support, Magic Mirror being the best buff in No Future against most bosses no contest.
No way is Vanadis shit tier, not when it has Oracle which is broken as hell, just use 1 class strike and you get all stats buffed on top of the +7% attack at 50% health (which isn't really a hard stipulation to meet most of the time, especially if you have a healer.

In short, the best classes for each character are:
Duran: Edelfrei
Angela: Magus or Grand Diviner
Kevin: Fatal Fist or Warrior Monk
Charlotte: Sage
Hawkeye: Ninja Master or Rogue
Riesz: Starlancer
If you wanna be most effective, try combining these classes to get synergies.
Starlancer Riesz pretty much makes every possible party just objectively better with her buffs. Her overall usefulness is unbeaten.
Angela and Kevin are the best damage dealers, Angela magical and Kevin physical.
If you, for some reason, really want the best healer in the game, pick Charlotte, but once you get the hang of it,
you will realize that you don't really need her, UNLESS you happen to want a multi target heal for a good reason AND need elemental sabers in which her Sage class excels.
Otherwise, you're better off either taking Warrior Monk Kevin who doubles as a good physical damage dealer or simply not taking a healer at all because healing items are kinda broken.
WRITE THAT DOWN WRITE THAT DOWN!
@@Chokoboh Sage or Necromancer, got it. I wasn't expecting an answer so soon, or at all. Is this on Hard or below or in general?
@@redmagelala I only play on "hard" difficulty cause anything else feels like super baby mode to me.
I played the original Snes game - Seiken Densetsu 3 a lot on emulator.
And that game was a good bit more difficult without having an option to change the difficulty at all.
So thanks to countless playthroughs of that, i've got a lot of experience in making teams not just work, but excel.
Some things changed a tiny bit with the equippable skills and the class passives, but nothing too meaningful. Also, whats new is very easy to grasp and understand.
Love seeing that the guys are treated as eye candy just as much as the girls. That's a rarity.
I am excited for your trails of reverie Tier list in 2023!!!!
I am so stoked for that game!
Only in year!!! I can not wait
Please do a Who is Best: Knights of the Old Republic!
I’ll probably wait till the remakes released, but absolutely!
It’s amazing this game can run on android please hope more games like this from consoles ported on android too
play on expert or higher.. charlotte is always on my side.
Just like the candy buddy !!
A very nice breakdown that his however shattered by the fact that the game is stupidly easy even on hard mode.
Yes but steal bikini mage.
Never played an "of Mana" game, but this looks pretty cool. Anyone got any suggestions on if this is a good starting point or if I should try one of the others first?
It’s the perfect starting point.
@@locloudanerpg Good to know, the way classes work seems interesting.
Thank You.
Yes, also this game is available on Google play store too
Mention in ninja master class that you can pair with magic focused Duran. What is magic focused Duran ? I thought he is melee only in all classes.
I liked using Angela Duran and Charlotte
Statut Effect are pretty good in mob fight in No Future and Expert since the mobs are more tanky, the obvious good class at it is Nightblade ^^
Ninjamaster is def the best debuffer in the game if you go NG+ and had a fenrir reisz from a previous playthrough.
Angela is good but Kevin and Duran can out dps her with ease
If I use Angela as my main, what are my best choices for my other slots
Duran and Charlotte
I would also recommend Duran and Reisz, I completely obliterate with the magic buff abilities they get, combined with the high health they get to fuel my wound abilities, on top of Reisz having stat boosting moves combined with Durans tanky healing, makes my Angela nightmare fuel for bosses.
this is tierlist for easy mode.. for no future mode Nomad is easily the best class just because of crystalline
can you do best of Legends of Dragoon ? i can't find a good tier list :(
It’s on the list. Should be sooner than later.
Jajaja best intro ever!
The graphics look like a mixture of a Kirby game and Xenoblade Chronicles
tell me an op team to start playing and detonating everything?
Duran Angela and Kevin. Make Duran a tanky caracter and Angela and Kevin DPS.
Never played game like this before
@@tjcool5541 So to put it simply :
Riesz Fenrir Knight : You want to invest in priority in Spirit and Intelligence, Spirit is where she learn her debuff spells and Intelligence where she learn the passive ability that increase said debuffs, after that you want to invest in Luck for the ability Bad Luck which add a random chance to make the debuff even more potent.
Can you reccomend a good team comp with Angela magus class
Fenrir Knight Reisz and Sage Charlotte
Angela classes all god tier lol
Can you play this on pc with the classic pixelated look?
Quick answer appreciated.
Holy jesus Angela and Reisz can't have any defense because they aren't wearing hardly anything! Not that I'm complaining, mind you.
Here here!
I wish Nightblade was better
Nomad Shit Tier ? I'm sorry but no way in hell, please inform yourself before doing a tier list, or at least try the class seriously :
-Transshape and Magic Mirror are 2 amazing defensive buff, that can effectivly allow you to deal damage with your main without a care in the world.
Also I'm sick of this misinformation :
-Riez's Dark Class are NOT overshadow by Ninja !!!
I'd hire you right now if I could afford it. Thanks for the feedback!
Lmao, chill dude
@@LinLin-ln6uz I'm calm.
Hey look at that, the shit tier both come with their own dunce caps too!
Good game. Spoiler block
Sorry the women here are not good. I went all male class. And destroyed everything in seconds.
Guess you didn't play them well then, cuz I did Angela, Reisz, Duran and destroyed everything as well, just depends on how you play and build them.
