Thank you, THANK you, THANK YOU for emphasizing the sharpening of hooks! I had a small outing of family/friends that couldn't hook a trout if they tried. Boy did they try and try. I finally had each one pull up their gear, sharpened all the hooks and then just like that, fish appeared topside/on the ice!? Now I automagically sharpen everyone's hooks before we go or they are used. I wish more content fisherfolk stressed sharpening (or at least checking) hooks.
What knot are you using for braid to floro? I have tried many and am not confident with any of them I broke off on big fish on a good solid hook set. What I have been using is the fg knot but super technical to tie. Thanks
@@dougwegnerfishing I have it down but I’m still not 100% confident with it, i strictly laker fish in the winter usually from depths to 15-60ft. I have broke my knot on a hook set with almost every knot granted that could be some my error tying the knot.
I’m not sure if it’s just the sub species of lake trout you guys have in the north..but I have Never marked a laker anywhere but on the bottom. I check the Water column often…never anything.

Screw the FG man… Alberto knot is fast and easy
Alberto is good. Uni to uni is also super easy. If you have the FG down stick with that.

Easy to attach braid and floro. I’ve never had it break
That’s why it’s called fishing and not catching, although one is better then nothing and that makes it worth it sometimes
