@@katherinefreymuth2030 The longest running companion of them all, 29 stories 120ish episodes 15 years, all 7 classic doctors! There is not a single character (played by the same actor) who can match the brig! (and thats ON SCREEN ONLY, not counting other media!)
A favourite headcanon of mine: After the events of this episode, the Brigadier travelled the universe as a Cyberman superhero, fighting the good fight until - bit by bit - he was damaged beyond repair. One day, in the distant future, his remains ended up being found by the Eleventh Doctor on the Maldovarium market, which he 'borrowed' to help translate a mysterious message coming from a planet named Trenzalore...
Most people outside the UK probably recognise Jack more as James Norrington, from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Michelle is one of the main cast of an upcoming Netflix show which was intended to have been a companion to CW's "Riverdale" prior to switching networks. "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" was the CW title, not sure if Netflix are going with that but they have ordered 2 seasons.
This was one of Doctor Who's darkest season finales. It gutted me to see Osgood get killed. I really liked her. She was companion material. Danny's fate was equally heartbreaking. But at least Twelve has a grip on who he is after a season-long identity crisis.
Where Twelve is at the beginning of this season and where Clara is at the beginning of this season, compared to the end of this season. Oof. Such good character development. I still think Twelve's run has amazing character development, probably the best in Who so far.
Clamfaced I feel like he’s the only one of the Modern Doctors atleast so far that has a character arc , maybe 9 is the only other one but 10 and 11 pretty much stay the same (and I say this as someone who likes all the Doctors ,especially 11 being my favorite)
Taimur Muggo 10 didn't stay the same at all. He was born a man full of hope and optimism, but died a broken, lonely and emotionally wrecked man. I agree about 11, though.
Yeah 10 was certainly a negative character development (Negative being a regression not that the character development was bad) He was hyper and chipper and cool and smiley at the start and he became a broken emotional shell. He's still the most human Doctor and he showed the positive side of human emotion at the start and the negative side by the end.
MrAzmatMahmood hmmm ,that’s an interesting interpretation . I have been wanting rewatch all of New Who before Series 11 and I was just going off what I remember since I have seem Tennants entire run a while ago so I’ll definitely see if I agree with you once I have rewatched it
I don't think 10 was nearly as consistent about it. 10 zig zagged back and forth until Waters of Mars, then seemingly went back to being normal 10 in the 50th anniversary, then back to broken, lonely, emotionally wrecked man in his abysmal final two parter It felt more like 10 just wasn't written particularly consistently to me, whereas it was much more intentional and consistent with 12 (and 9) I'd agree that 11 never really changed or grew as a character much.
If both 'Mummy on the Orient Express' and 'Flatline' were the strong indicators that the 12th Doctor was finally here fully, then this finale was the confirmation. IMO, I strongly believe that the whole point of Series 8 was all about us getting the Doctor we deserve. When 12 was introduced, he's just started a whole new regeneration cycle and having regenerated so many times now, he's starting to question if he's the same person as shown through both his confrontation with the Half-Face Droid in 'Deep Breath' and him asking Clara if he's a good man in 'Into the Dalek'. Because of all that, he's been very emotionally-reserved and prickly, but the ending of 'Kill the Moon' was almost like a wake-up call for him and both 'Mummy on the Orient Express' and 'Flatline' were when he was starting to become the Doctor again. With this finale, the speech he delivers in the graveyard to Missy was him finally realising who he is and becoming 100% the Doctor again. It's from that point 12 properly begins.
There's a reason that perfectly explains the chemistry between Capaldi and Michelle Gomez. They're town pals, they're both Glaswegians and they've known each other for ages. Same kind of as Moffat who is from Paisley, right outside Glasgow. Now this is a very special city both historical and culturally and it's a microverse in itself regarding humour (what they call banter) and identity. So the chemistry is not a matter of great casting, which it also is, and luck. It's been developed from a real friendship throughout the years. There's so much talent in that city.
It's crazy, I remember watching this episode when it aired and finding it really upsetting, but I didn't physically cry. I've since watched it a few times and again, never cried. Then I watch your reaction and I'm sat here absolutely bawling. It's brilliant watching the reactions of someone who truly isn't afraid to be legitimately honest and open with their own feelings of every episode. You don't force laughter and you don't hide or even amplify tears. You're natural and that's why your Doctor Who reactions in particular are the ones I find myself counting the days to! I've been watching your videos for just over a year now and went back to watch pretty much all of your previous videos (Doctor Who ones especially) and I think this is the first time I've commented on one of your videos. Just had to say, I truly love your content! I hope you realise the joy you're putting into other peoples lives every single week :)
Sesska really helps me connect with the show emotionally. Episodes I don't like or that I'm MEH on, she helps me see the good parts of it, and I enjoy those whole series more for having watched her reactions. And episodes that I DO like, she makes them even BETTER. I am SO looking forward to watching her S9 reactions. It's one of my favorites and I can't wait to see it through her eyes!
I love the irony of the President of Earth being...an alien. It's delicious. Missy is a crazy S.O.B though, you just love her. Super enjoyed your reactions to Series 8, as I do for your reactions. Series 9 should be insane for you!
" Love isn't an emotion, love is a promise." - absolutely adore that line, followed by Danny's "the promise of a soldier," tying in to it and what that means.
I really enjoyed Season 8 and the finale especially. There's some duds like Forest of the Night etc., but some absolutely belters like Dalek, Mummy and Flatline. The "Doctor finally allows himself to let his true emotions out" thing wasn't perfectly written, but Capaldi more than made up for any less-than-perfect writing. He only gets better from here (both the Doctor and the actor). Danny? Well, some people may not have liked him and especially his relationship with Clara, but I thought he was decent and I'd be lying if "You will sleep safe tonight" didn't tug at my heartstrings. Missy is perfect, music in the episode is great. Just a good finale in general. Hope you enjoy the Christmas special!
I was hoping to see if you noticed the change to the opening credits, but I guess either you didn't notice or it wasn't much of a reaction. If you didn't notice, they flipped the credits. Jenna got main billing, and it was her eyes, not the Doctor's.
I don't think she cared to be honest. I don't think she believed Clara anyways, given her reaction to when Clara said "I'm the Doctor". The whole point of the intro switch-a-roo thing was to try and sell it to the viewers but Jess wasn't having any of it.
Ryan Lohner a show originally made for children that has an Alien with two hearts, runs around with a sonic screwdriver/sunglasses in a ship that looks like a police box who regenerates into a completely different person, but them switching eyes in the opening was going overboard? The things that irk Doctor Who fans...hahahaha
Fantastic reactions and analysis. Capaldi and Gomez are electric together! You can gift the Doctor 'commander in chief of every army on earth' and shove a cyber-army under his command but these things are of no use to an idiot, with a box, and a screwdriver, passing through, helping out and learning that love is not an emotion. Love is a promise.
And yes Missy killed Danny Pink. She needed to have this happen on the day the Doctor was born, as it was a celebration of his birthday and their history together.
This is probably so silly to admit but I rewatch my favorites of your reactions cuz they just add a new level to the rewatches for me and truth be told Its nice to cry over favorite scenes with people online sometimes. But to answer a question you probably already had answered or stopped caring about completely after contemplating it 5 years ago. But that scene with the man getting pulled through the plane window that probably shouldn't have been big enough for that to happen that was a reference to Nightmare on Elm Street. The director of all Capaldi's finales was Rachel Talalay. She got her start in the special effects section of Nightmare films, produced the 4th and went on to direct Final Nightmare and my personal cult classic Tank Girl with Lori Petty. She also Directed The Star Beast so im glad she's still a go to for Doctor Who as shes brilliant.
So happy to see this. Also, y'all, I see this morning that the series 9 soundtrack is finally available for preorder on Amazon. Dear god that was a long two and a half years. Looking forward to reliving series 9 through these reactions and the music!
I think this is such an underappreciated episode and your reaction made me so happy! I'm so glad you enjoyed this episode as much as I did! There's so much that was going on and your thoughts just hit so many of the points perfectly! Thank you, as always, for sharing your reaction with us!
Love the Salute to the Brig..It's about Damn time Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart, got a Proper Salute from the Doctor! Missy..Or Missy...Hey Missy you So Fine....LOL! Love Missy! Sad ending for Clara and Danny. Evil Mary Poppins...LOL! Always good to see Kate and Osgood... Your face when Santa Appeared....Priceless!.Yes....SANTA! Series 9 reactions are gonna be Awesome and Epic...Specially the First ep! You should see "The Doctor's Meditation" Mini-Sode first before The Season 9 premiere! It kinda sets things up abit...
I never watched Classic Who and I always thought it was Danny (again). But now that I watched it the second time I found out that the last Cyberman is supposed to be the Brigadier who's one of the Doctor's former companions. btw: Hell yeah, season 9 is coming! One of the best seasons. I'm still in love with 11, Amy and Rory but season 9 is on the same level.
I'm rewatching this and I must have missed your line "is the Doctor going to end up on the LOST island!?" the first time around. I'd love to see that! The Doctor would figure the island out in, like, a day. All that electromagnetism stuff and having to leave the island at a certain compass bearing? Nah, the Doctor fixed it.
I'm glad you're enjoying Missy so much, she really is an amazing character. Honestly, Missy was the best thing about Capaldi's run (apart from Capaldi himself of course, who is absolutely brilliant).
This episode features one of the first of MANY of Capaldi's center-stage moments. I LOVE those!! He more than any other doctor I feel is theatrical enough to pull off those moments and Mofat does a great job with his scripts to highlight him. Excellent work to come .. :)
Omg sesska you are the prettiest emotional crier. You went from “yeah he’s got a fucking army”… to just quietly and pretilly crying to danny’s promise of a soldier farewell speech.
the cyberman at the end was the Brigadier, a character from the original run. He would work with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Doctor as he was in charge of Unit and was the only man the Doctor would salute. (in the 50th matt smith salutes his daughter in the intro and is confused)
The last Cyberman was Archibald Lethbridge-Stewart. Kate's dad and a long time friend of the Doctor. First appeared with the 3rd Doctor if I remember correctly. One of the most beloved old school DW characters
2nd doctor, one of the complaints about being exiled on earth was being identified. And has dealt with more doctors than I think any other, 1 2 3 4 5 (I/ve heard7- -but I think I missed that one) and now 12
The person in the cyber suit was the brigadier or cyber brig. He was in the Sarah Jane Adventures episode the enemy of the bane where he helped Sarah and the team in helping Mrs Wormwood in finding the Scroll which was in the Black Archive.
The Doctor's salute to the cyberman (her father) was a call back to classic who. Finally, he got a salute form the Doctor. The music they play when the Doctor starts saying "I am not a good man..." is a variation of 12th's theme, called "The majestic tale of an idiot with a box". (There was a variation of 11th's theme called "The majestic tale of a mad man with a box"). All this fantastic music was composed and orchestrated by Murray Gold, who unfortunately, has decided leaving the show with Moffat and Capaldi. I'm going to miss his cinematic approach to the show's score. If you liked this season, I would recommend you watching the Christmas Special as soon as possible. Today if you can. It was my favorite of all the season.
This went out live the evening before Remembrance Sunday. That time of year makes me emotional anyway as I always think of my grandad (he served in WW2) so the “promise of a soldier” just had me in floods of tears, only made worse by the return of the Brig. There are a couple of prequels to the first episode of series 9. You should catch them, even if you don’t do reactions to them.
The focus on two-parters makes it very hit or miss to me. That said, it has possibly the best episode of Nu-Who to date in its lineup. No spoilers here, but regular Doctor Who viewers probably know what I'm referring to.
Superb reaction, glad you enjoyed it! Been very excited to see how you would feel about Missy & all the mayhem she caused (killing poor 'Yes' of all things!). Cheers for putting this out on my birthday btw, really appreciate it! XD
The cemetery scenes in this episode - I actually know the place where these scenes were filmed. It's omly in town about 10 miles from me. Apparently you could see my brother's house on the hill in the distance
Oh hey, it's this dumbass again, lol. This guys spams every Doctor Who reactor's comments section hating on Steven Moffat episodes and then uses dummy accounts to upvote his own comments.
To be honest, you should watch the next season and after that watch the name of the doctor and this episode again. The relationship between Clara and the doctor is so much more complicated and those two episodes set the scene so well it is amazing to re-watch them. It hits in the heart so much more.
My headcanon is that missy has control of the cybermen when the master went back to his tardis dying on the colony ship, he stole the cybermen technology, goes back in time, and does the process
Great reaction. Another fun thing with this ep was in the opening titles, where Jenna's name came first, and then it was her eyes instead of Capaldi's, as a play on her being "The Doctor".
11:04 "How did he fit to that?" Yeah, i know right?! XD But now I know how he fit into it after watching this episode a lot of time XD 12:34 For some reason, Missy's expression and Jess' expression is almost the same, or maybe it just me XD
And thus ends the story of Brigadier Alastair Gordon Lethbridge Stewart. If you want to see more of him and old UNIT, I'd highly recommend watching early 3rd Doctor, as well as any of 3 and 4's "on-earth" adventures. (I'm sure someone could make a list if you wanted one)
I am so happy you enjoyed this! A lot of fans hate this one for some reason, but I LOVE it. Next up the best Xmas Episode of all time and then SEASON 9 which is just, as Nine would say...Fantastic!
Was going to comment on the episode and how it's perhaps more satisfying in retrospect; but to avoid spoilers, I'll simply add this random aside: During the viewing, my Alexa added "I like that the Doctor" to my shopping list.
I am really looking forward to your review to see what you thought of the season as a whole. Even more excited to see the Christmas special reaction. In my opinion, from this next christmas special all the way thru the next christmas special is the most consistent run of great episodes the show has done so far.
Awesome reaction. These videos always brighten everyone's day. I didn't like this episode the first time around because I thought it was rushed but I'm glad you liked it a lot, especially after such an inconsistent series. Thanks a lot for posting this video. I hope you have a great day (or night) and God bless you! Happy Passover/Easter (in a few days)!
While I liked all of your comments, you were totally spot-on about how they portrayed the throwback to the classic and agree that it doesn't always work...but this did. It was a great and heartfelt moment!
I'm glad to see you loved two of my favourite episodes of Season 8 - Dark Water and Death in Heaven. I felt the Twelfth Doctor took a long time to warm up, but perhaps I think that way after every regeneration. I know when you are enjoying an episode, Jess, because you watch it very intently. 🎶Hey, Missy, you're so fine, you're so fine, you blow my mind...🎶 and *bananas!* 🍌 Brilliant performance by the actress *Michelle Gomez!* Missy and the Doctor are more alike than the Doctor thinks. In this episode, we saw a dark side to Twelve, when he attacked the TARDIS, after realising Missy had lied to him about Gallifrey. I don't think it's a coincidence that they are both played by Scottish actors. *I love the Scottish accent!* Your eyes lit up when you saw Eleven again! Now you know that Missy was the woman who brought the Doctor and Clara together in the first place. This episode convinced me, more than ever, that Danny cared for Clara. He was hurt by her final betrayal, but Clara lied to Danny by saying she would never lie to the Doctor. She lied to the Doctor at the end. Speaking of which... At the end of this episode, the Doctor and Clara convinced each other that there was no room in each other's lives. I liked the way the Doctor looked at Clara before he closed the TARDIS door. Did you notice the chimes of a clock at the end of the episode? The scene with Santa took us all by surprise! When I saw the Doctor sitting in the TARDIS with his head in his hands, I thought he was asleep and wondered if he had been dreaming. He looked tired. I am looking forward to seeing your reaction to Peter Capaldi's first full Christmas Special. It hardly seems like a full season has passed since Eleven's regeneration.
Been waiting all day for this reaction (it uploaded just after 9pm here) and it was definitely worth it. In fact as soon as it was done I watched it again. I really enjoyed season 8, though you made some good observations on the character of Danny I felt the relationship triangle between the 3 of them gave the season really good characterisation depth which took us places we rarely have been before with Doctor Who I loved this two part finale, you were right I think it tied everything up really well, Missy was brilliant and I love how they explored the relationship between her and The Doctor and delved into who he is as person. Michelle Gomez was fantastic and her and Capaldi do have a great chemistry together, which is needed after all these two have been best friends for over 2000 yrs Look forward to what is coming up with your end of season review and future reactions, thanks for all your hard work x
Oh boy, I’ve been eagerly awaiting this one and your reactions to the conclusion of the soldier subplot bits. I hope that you talk about it as part of your season recap.
22:55 "I didn't even know him and I'm getting emotional."
Oh believe me, you will LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Kate's father!
Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart is absolutely fricking awesome!
@@katherinefreymuth2030 The longest running companion of them all, 29 stories 120ish episodes 15 years, all 7 classic doctors! There is not a single character (played by the same actor) who can match the brig! (and thats ON SCREEN ONLY, not counting other media!)
I did know of him but not old enough for his entire story this was a great send off the character deservered
A favourite headcanon of mine:

One day, in the distant future, his remains ended up being found by the Eleventh Doctor on the Maldovarium market, which he 'borrowed' to help translate a mysterious message coming from a planet named Trenzalore...
And Brigadier becomes the longest serving companion
ajw34307 I'm not a fan of the Brig being turned into a Cybermen, but that's actually pretty amazing...
My god, i imagined something like that many years ago, im glad to meet you sir :D
Yes I love that theory!
"Handles, is this the best fan-theory ever?"
"AFFIRMATIVE."
The actress who plays Missy is Michelle Gomez who’s a Scottish comedy actor like Capaldi
Capaldi has never been just a comedy actor.
And she's married to Jack Davenport, the lead star of Moffat's previous show Couping.
Most people outside the UK probably recognise Jack more as James Norrington, from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. +Ryan Lohner - Jack Davenport was also in the brilliant series 'This Life' with Andrew Lincoln, a favourite actor of Jess'.
Bill Watson as much as Michelle is a great actress
The remake of Sabrina is a SIN the 90s one all the way

“Yes! Alright! Oh no we’re back to sad” Doctor Who in a nutshell
This second part is much better than I remember it being when I watched it live
It happens frequently.
Alot of series end up being better when watched in quick succession.
A Person With a Name except for series 11...
Yeah watching it now I now love this ending
When 12 flew down thru the sky to catch his tardis with that badass music playing, got me loving 12

Yet, I watched a video where PC said "I've known Michelle for years".
He finally got his salute
MIchael Hartline hated what they did to the brig 😞
But why though?
First off: it's metal AS fuck
2nd: It's now personal headcanon that Handles is Cyber-Brig
I cry every time at that bit
That salute will mean more than words can describe 😭😭
Also even in death the Brigadier kept his supirior rank

22:40 Yep. It's the Brigadier.
It even has his theme music from series 6
It was suggested during her earlier appearance that Missy adopted a Scottish accent to match the Doctors.

It literally only exists so they could put it in the trailer. It's a cheap move that this show is usually above.

Series 9 reactions are gonna be Awesome and Epic...Specially the First ep!
You should see "The Doctor's Meditation" Mini-Sode first before The Season 9 premiere! It kinda sets things up abit...
michelle gomez is her name and she is awesome!
Missy's name is Michelle Gomez
Missy is pretty awesome though :)
You went from “yeah he’s got a fucking army”… to just quietly and pretilly crying to danny’s promise of a soldier farewell speech.
i am very interested to hear your thoughts on capaldi's doctor now that you've had a full series to see him. spoiler: he gets even better
the cyberman at the end was the Brigadier, a character from the original run. He would work with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Doctor as he was in charge of Unit and was the only man the Doctor would salute. (in the 50th matt smith salutes his daughter in the intro and is confused)
Sesska, it is 4yrs since you were doing Dr Who on TH-cam. I still LOVE watching you.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Amy and Rory are now Cybermen
Technically they arent anything now.. As they been reduced to less than ashes
HOW DARE YOU
Amy was already heartless it was the only logical step for her.
A Guy On TH-cam aren’t they buried in New York (did the clouds got there)
The last Cyberman was Archibald Lethbridge-Stewart. Kate's dad and a long time friend of the Doctor. First appeared with the 3rd Doctor if I remember correctly. One of the most beloved old school DW characters
2nd doctor, one of the complaints about being exiled on earth was being identified. And has dealt with more doctors than I think any other, 1 2 3 4 5 (I/ve heard7- -but I think I missed that one) and now 12
Good reaction . . . and the best part about it is you are finally at Season 9!
The person in the cyber suit was the brigadier or cyber brig. He was in the Sarah Jane Adventures episode the enemy of the bane where he helped Sarah and the team in helping Mrs Wormwood in finding the Scroll which was in the Black Archive.
Upcoming is my favourite season of Doctor Who. Season 9 is fantastic!
The cyberman at the end was the brigadier
You will love the brigadier. Imo he is up there with Sarah jane as one of the best companions.
I don’t get all the season 9 hate in the comments. Personally I like it very much, one of my favourites! Looking forward to those reactions.
Ollie Cargill Me too!
Ollie Cargill Its my favourite too (Just above series 8).
The focus on two-parters makes it very hit or miss to me. That said, it has possibly the best episode of Nu-Who to date in its lineup. No spoilers here, but regular Doctor Who viewers probably know what I'm referring to.
+HellfireComms
And that episode got topped by the first part of Series 10's finale.
Nah, the episode of Series 9 is basically the best of Nu-Who.
22:45 This Cyberman is the Brigadier, one of the most famous past Doctor's companion. And here he fullfield an old promess :)
Superb reaction, glad you enjoyed it! Been very excited to see how you would feel about Missy & all the mayhem she caused (killing poor 'Yes' of all things!). Cheers for putting this out on my birthday btw, really appreciate it! XD
I salute you, Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart
That scene wrecked me. I grew up with him as a main character with No. 3 and 4.
The cemetery scenes in this episode - I actually know the place where these scenes were filmed. It's omly in town about 10 miles from me. Apparently you could see my brother's house on the hill in the distance
You're going to love season 9.
And now for the best Christmas special followed by the best series of new who by FAR!
Series 9 is; PERFECT!
12345 6789 i adore s9 as well:)
Last Christmas and series 9 are SO good!
not this guy again..
Oh hey, it's this dumbass again, lol. This guys spams every Doctor Who reactor's comments section hating on Steven Moffat episodes and then uses dummy accounts to upvote his own comments.
I don't really agree, but I'm glad it has its fans.
Looking forward for Series 9 reactions 😎
Series 9 is the best!
Goodness I can't wait!!!!
I love your reactions. The fear, anticipation, empathy, and sadness. This episode had such a wide range. Thank you.
Great reaction. Another fun thing with this ep was in the opening titles, where Jenna's name came first, and then it was her eyes instead of Capaldi's, as a play on her being "The Doctor".
9:50 when all you need is a little bit of 11th :)
11:04 "How did he fit to that?"
Yeah, i know right?! XD But now I know how he fit into it after watching this episode a lot of time XD
12:34 For some reason, Missy's expression and Jess' expression is almost the same, or maybe it just me XD
Some of those scenes at the cemetery - you can actually see my brother's house in the distance on the hill!!!
And thus ends the story of Brigadier Alastair Gordon Lethbridge Stewart.
If you want to see more of him and old UNIT, I'd highly recommend watching early 3rd Doctor, as well as any of 3 and 4's "on-earth" adventures. (I'm sure someone could make a list if you wanted one)
and the second.
sounds like you didn't know, but that last cyberman was the Brigadeer....the woman's father. HUGE in the 70s with Tom Baker and Jon Pertwee.
Finally! Omg, I cant wait for you reacting to season 9! Its going to be awesome!
First time I watched this episode, I didn't knew that last Cyberman, that saved Cate was her father, Brigadier Alister Gordon Lethbridge-Stuart
You: I love her.
Me: *Hisses* she's mine
So when are Big Finish gonna do a boxset about Cyber Danny,Cyber Brig, Cyber Yvonne (from s2) and Kroton (a 8th Doctor companion who was a Cyberman)
Can Handles come along for the ride?
Mark Joseph Kean
yes please yessss!!!!!!
He's in the new Unit series with Jacobi's master.
Nobody wants a Cyberbrig spin-off tbh
th-cam.com/video/Bmsafe5d4oM/w-d-xo.html :)
Amy and Rory’s graves were seen in set pics so lots of people thought he’d go back to that graveyard
The problem with seeing reactions is, you would soooo love to see her react again and again to these :)
One final salute to the Brigadier and one last “Bow ties are cool”.
Can't wait for series 9
and yes the 12th Doctor is a super hero
Happy now? ;p
+Mark McKeown yes
Missy actress is Michelle Gomez
Can’t wait for you to react to season 9!! Glad you enjoyed season 8. It was an emotional season as Clara and the 12th Doctor got to know each other.
I am so happy you enjoyed this! A lot of fans hate this one for some reason, but I LOVE it. Next up the best Xmas Episode of all time and then SEASON 9 which is just, as Nine would say...Fantastic!
Was going to comment on the episode and how it's perhaps more satisfying in retrospect; but to avoid spoilers, I'll simply add this random aside:
During the viewing, my Alexa added "I like that the Doctor" to my shopping list.
Salute to the Brigadier
I wasn't crazy about Capaldi but he did grow on me, lol. Season 9 will be great
I am really looking forward to your review to see what you thought of the season as a whole.
Wouldn't it be funny if one of the Cybermen said "Hello raggedy man!" ?
Last Christmas is honestly one of my favourite episodes ever, I think you'll love it
God dammit now you’ve made me want a Doctor Who/Lost crossover
War 9 10 11 12 13
I'm so excited to see you watch series 9 😀
While I liked all of your comments, you were totally spot-on about how they portrayed the throwback to the classic and agree that it doesn't always work...but this did. It was a great and heartfelt moment!
22:43 - the moment when it dawns on her...
🎶Hey, Missy, you're so fine, you're so fine, you blow my mind...🎶 and *bananas!* 🍌 Brilliant performance by the actress *Michelle Gomez!*
Missy and the Doctor are more alike than the Doctor thinks. In this episode, we saw a dark side to Twelve, when he attacked the TARDIS, after realising Missy had lied to him about Gallifrey.
I don't think it's a coincidence that they are both played by Scottish actors. *I love the Scottish accent!*
Your eyes lit up when you saw Eleven again!
I think the fun thing is that we'll soon be caught up and the new series will be in realish time, assuming Jess can see them in the states
You'll really enjoy Series 9.
It's my favorite Series in Doctor Who (Tied with Series 6 and 4) and really shows how phenomenal Peter Capaldi is.
The wonderful scene of the Twelfth Doctor falling toward TARDIS seems to me the kind of thing the Third Doctor would do.
9 called himself stupid, 10 called himself thick, and 12 called himself an idiot...
Been waiting all day for this reaction (it uploaded just after 9pm here) and it was definitely worth it. In fact as soon as it was done I watched it again. I really enjoyed season 8, though you made some good observations on the character of Danny I felt the relationship triangle between the 3 of them gave the season really good characterisation depth which took us places we rarely have been before with Doctor Who
I loved this two part finale, you were right I think it tied everything up really well, Missy was brilliant and I love how they explored the relationship between her and The Doctor and delved into who he is as person. Michelle Gomez was fantastic and her and Capaldi do have a great chemistry together, which is needed after all these two have been best friends for over 2000 yrs
Look forward to what is coming up with your end of season review and future reactions, thanks for all your hard work x
Fun pop fact - The song 'Mickey' was originally called 'Kitty'.
Seaon 9 is going to be a whopper. Best series by far. Looking forward to seeing your reactions
Nice to see Jeff make an Appearance
Oh boy, I’ve been eagerly awaiting this one and your reactions to the conclusion of the soldier subplot bits. I hope that you talk about it as part of your season recap.
