Haven’t listened to this since me and everyone I knew in high school got told to take 2 weeks off and eventually to not come back. That was e-learning, began for me late Freshman year of high school, and this song I stumbled upon as I was working late on World History homework. I’ve come a long way as a person since and I couldn’t be more proud and happy.

As a CGI artist, and a man who was a teenager during the 80s, I'm impressed with the visuals here, especially the DeLorean driving through the digital city. It has a real Tron ambience, yet with a slickness and quality that was not possible in the early 80s. It is beyond what we even fantasised when we watched Tron as kids. People say this is the 80s' vision of the future; but I say it is more the future's vision of the 80s!

I was born in 1981..I love that the rewind in the car stops on that year! As for those who weren't born in the 80's, I can attest that it was indeed a magical time to be a kid,(golden era of action and slasher films!), one of which I still dream and re-live with tracks such as these..🤘🔥
Thank you Miami nights 1984 for all these Electro moments. I was born in the late 70' and I had the privilege to taste this awesome period of music. Listening to this these song make me dive in those glorious moments of my life.
+primo971 I was born in 1991 and yet 1980's are my favourite music era ever. Miami Nights 1984 is the first gig that accurately captures the sound, and, what's more important, the mindset of then.
For any of you kids who weren't around in the 80s and wish they were, I can tell you this is exactly what the world looked and sounded like. That's not animation you're watching, it's actual footage of how the world looked in 1984.
I just wanna say, this is what started me down the rabbit hole that led me to The Midnight, FM 84, and all the other awsome artists New Retro Wave puts up.
I've noticed the music to be the biggest gap between these eras. The 80s we're so freaking fun and exciting now a days everything is so forced and unoriginal. Music hasn't been trending upward for a while now.
You are not alone from about 98ish society just got worse. it is 2018 and literally the last 18 years have sucked ass from 2007 till today thanks to the smartphone and facebook etc it really has sucked ass.
Alexis Pruitt I was born in the 2000 but I remember playing GTA vice city heavily back then so every single time I see anything related to the 80s I kinda get that nostalgic feel 😂
This is just the damn absolute best defacto synthwave song that entirely defines the genre both musically and visually. Always and forever on my top 10 list for this style.
Siddhartha Biswas There was racism and homophobia during the fifties, but it certainly was not at an all time high in any sense. I’d say it was at an all time high when people were regularly getting lynched and their was slavery and later, the Jim crows laws.
KamikazeeDolphin that's actually a mental question psychologist have tried to answer for years. The Nostalgia is actually connected to the time you're most comfortable with.

K10 Nah I love the internet. But I just want to be in a time where cocaine and explosions ruled the atmosphere. Where Deloreans ruled the highways and toy commercials were sick.
Born in 88 right here, but if you were born in that era and you listened EVEN a little bit and if you didn't get into it, catching up to it, it's not really that hard, i feel it like it's in my blood man :D
'89 here and yeah, I missed out on growing up but luckily, heard all these dope 80's tunes throughout my childhood. 80's was a pretty awesome and manly time lol
The 80's was the last decade when we thought the future was going to be awesome. I put that down to the kind of movies and sci-fi kids shows we had then. My hope is that once Covid-19 is done, everyone will have had their fill of I-told-you-so doom mongering and want to see some brighter representations of our future, preferably with luminous accented motorcycles, cars and helicopters!
@TheDroidBay. Right with you! Our current world makes you wonder what's the point of going further, while back in the 80s, the future held so much hope!
This is what the 80s sounded like, I was 11 in 1979 12 by 1980 oh boy it was awesome and in miami!!!! I wish I could go back to see and relive it! I wish you kids could've lived the 80s so magical.
+Woltron X It's closer than you think. With the cost of LED's being way below that of actual neon I'm seeing more and more buildings with decorative light up corners and "neon" stripes. Soon the cost of LED arrays should be low enough for people like you to paint your house dark purple and put light strips on all the edges.
+Woltron X - That's how 80's hip people looked into the future while that style lasted only few years and after that majority didn't give a shit anymore. To everybody else that was = to goths, emos, punks, hipsters, ... Which was just another phase of people trying to be "cool" yet they were ignored anyway and the new thing came along.
Man look at those beautiful bright neon colors from the 1980s!!! would be so cool if only it was possible to time travel back!!! i love clothing fashion,Technology,Vehicles, music tv shows animations movies and many more!!
I am writing this message so it reaches those who were in high spirit and momentum when this song was first released. No matter where you are or how low you are feeling you can do it, get yourself up and let the synth waves of this song wake up every part of you that been crippled for too long due to hardship, heartache or pain. I want to let you know I believe in you, you can do it be the best version of you take the step forward and the way will appear, you have it in you!
The fact that we know you like 80s music, doesn't mean you'd have to express it here, everyone knows what people on TH-cam are capable of, Filthy Frank literally sent out his fanbase to kill people like Chris, but just get over it the 80s is gone, show your dedication to this generation, and maybe your great grandchildren will most likely say they lived in 2016 - 2017, Just forget about it, Sorry to say, I like this music too, but TH-camrs and the community just ruin it.
I think the 80s aesthetic is a reminder of how life and at least our existence is all about the journey, not actually getting there itself. In the 80s we longed for the future; when the future came we began to take it for granted and realised that something had been lost. Once our now 30 year old perception of 'the future' was achieved I think that we are beginning to long for the hype for the future, more than the future itself. If anything, this genre of music supports that theory.
The future became something else other than what we were envisioning at the time. But the hope of what the future could be is still there. I can't believe were actually calling this music "retro" now, because to me it's a form of admitting defeat. Regardless, I'm just so happy this music is slowly coming back. :)
***** it's long transcended 80s, it may have started/peaked then, but people have been making this sort of music way longer than that decade! in any case yes, it's all about nostalgia, if you condense it to a single word :)
...It took the world most advanced state-of-the-art supercomputing technology and nearly 40 years ...but it's finally complete! Ladies and gentlemen I give you... the Meaning of Life!
To be honest, the years have been rough around the edges especially with music nowadays. To me, modern music just seems to lack any sort of satisfaction or quality and it's been driving me crazy. I've been needing something awesome to listen to, and that was the case up until I stumbled across "Monomer-Fight or Flight". After hearing this song, my curiosity was perked by the flawless 80's theme and I wondered, are there other songs like this? Needless to say, I found this song...and I have truly found music heaven in the sea of my boring, generic generation. Thank you NewRetrowave, this music is what I have needed for the longest of time.
Eh, Drive was way too heavy on the love story instead of just being the quiet protagonist being slowly pulled into shady stuff. Too much action, not enough feels, too much cheese, but the bad kind, not the good Arnold-Schwarzenegger-one-liners-cheese.
A few years ago, when my fiance and I were on the edge of splinting up for good, we were siting in his car. He had his music on shuffel and this song played, the moment we both broke into tears and were geting back on track. Since that day, this is our song. When we get married, we will have our wedding dance to it! : )

I was born in 1981..I love that the rewind in the car stops on that year! As for those who weren't born in the 80's, I can attest that it was indeed a magical time to be a kid,(golden era of action and slasher films!), one of which I still dream and re-live with tracks such as these..🤘🔥
Born in 84..... loved my childhood
It's only good for you. None of us would enjoy it as much
Thank you Miami nights 1984 for all these Electro moments. I was born in the late 70' and I had the privilege to taste this awesome period of music. Listening to this these song make me dive in those glorious moments of my life.

For any of you kids who weren't around in the 80s and wish they were, I can tell you this is exactly what the world looked and sounded like. That's not animation you're watching, it's actual footage of how the world looked in 1984.

80's and 90's have the same culture as well but with different technologies and development
I've noticed the music to be the biggest gap between these eras. The 80s we're so freaking fun and exciting now a days everything is so forced and unoriginal. Music hasn't been trending upward for a while now.
I was an 04 kiddo and I'm obsessed with El Camino's and Earth wind and fire

A strange feeling of nostalgia for a time you've never actually experienced.
I get the exact same feeling when listening to L'amour tojours by Gigi D'Agostino, which my mum used to listen to when she was a teenager

Yeah when racism and homophobia were at an all time high

Why do I feel Nostalgia, from a time I wasnt even born in...
me too o.o
KamikazeeDolphin that's actually a mental question psychologist have tried to answer for years. The Nostalgia is actually connected to the time you're most comfortable with.
We just want to go back to not being connected to the internet all the damn time, not being able to open your phone without someone messaging you "Hey, saw you went online, join Skype now or I'll nag you about it for the rest of the day"

Nah I love the internet. But I just want to be in a time where cocaine and explosions ruled the atmosphere. Where Deloreans ruled the highways and toy commercials were sick.

Born in 82. Got to see most of it.

Soon the cost of LED arrays should be low enough for people like you to paint your house dark purple and put light strips on all the edges.
+Woltron X - That's how 80's hip people looked into the future while that style lasted only few years and after that majority didn't give a shit anymore.
