- Today I'm going to show you how to convert an Epson Eco Tank printer into a sublimation printer, which I think is the best budget sublimation for beginners. I have a brand-new Epson ET-2800 for this video, but what I'm going to show you should work for any Epson Eco Tank printer.
It's also important that you start with a brand-new Epson Eco Tank and never put the regular inkjet ink that comes with it into the printer!

This is so informative! I already have a ET 2800 for my stickers and I bought the exact same printer for sublimation, do I have to redownload the drive or no? I should just be able to add the printer in my setting right? Please help!
No you wouldn't have to download it again. Just go into your computer printer settings and add it in🤍
Have you worked with silhouette studio software with this printer. It does not want to print, it says not supported .

It can print up to 8.5” x 14” :)

Thanks for the info. My printer prints but has a whole bunch of lines in it… like it’s missing ink every 1/4 inch. Know why?
With a converted sublimation printer you need to print atleast 1-2 times a week or else the print heads get clogged. Maybe thats the issue?
Run the head cleaning about 10 - 12 times in the epson maintenance settings, then print a nozzle test to see if it has cleared. If not keep running the head cleaning until the lines have cleared.
Question!!!! Should I turn off update firmware on the epson et-2800?
I have the same ink but they have a differeent top and has needles. How do I fill it with these?
can you have two ET 2800 on one computer? I have one with sub ink and another with regular ink.
I did all that but I never got a printout congratulating me 🤔 Also when I printed my design it looked pale and it did not let me chose to change settings when I sent it to print. It only gave me the option for paper size and kind but not like with my other printers that I can choose high quality and all that 😰😢
I didn't get the "congratulation" thingy. Does that mean mine is not good?
Hello, I followed your steps, but for some reason I keep receiving an E2 Scanner Error message. The Printer is the same model ET 2800 and it's brand new. Soon as I reached the step after preparing, is when I receive the message. All the website says is to shut off and turn back on, but it's been wasting my sublimation ink. Can you please help me or if anyone knows what I can do, kindly let me know, since I had a project I needed to do by tomorrow, and now it's extremely frustrating because since I used the sublimation ink, I know Epson can't advise me. I really appreciate you taking the time to make videos to help others starting out.
Now when I try to turn it on, it skips the initiation step, but when I try to do anything it says printer busy, and then the same error message happens. I'm not sure if it's the way I'm loading the paper, or because the wifi network I couldn't finish setting up because of the scan error.

So it's not recommended to use the 2800 for both sublimation and regular inkjet printing. I would be swapping the inks depending on whether I'm subliminting or not.
You can't swap them out. The inks are different. You'll have to use it specifically for sublimation or regular ink. Not both.
Hi my printer is converted but I did a firmware update and now it seems to not be printing sublimation prints anymore. Can you help?
When I first started sublimation with my wf7720, Cosmos Ink said NOT to do a firmware update, maybe that’s why. Not sure if you can factory reset to fix this, but seems like maybe that would undo the update? I hope it works for you, I was always afraid I would update the firmware by mistake on mine.
By any chance can I use the ink that came with the printer to print a something that I want to put on a shirt?
No, it has to be sublimation ink
Does anyone know which printer is better for sublimation, the Epson Ecotank 2800 or the 2850?

Not for sublimation. You have to used sublimation paper
I did all of the things , and when I went to print something orange - it printed and pressed green. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong ?

Why should we use sublimation? What are the advantages and disadvantages?
Sublimation actually infuses the ink into the fabric, so it looks like a shirt (or whatever you use) that you would get at a store. It doesn’t wash out or fade. As opposed to vinyl which just sits on top. I haven’t tried it yet, but I just got my Epson printer in the mail today and I’m excited to get started!
Can you use dtf ink on this printer?
I'm not really sure. I never heard anyone doing that.
My Epson kept giving me an error. I took it back. Be careful! Some companies will not take them back because, you used the wrong ink.
What if the color on your images look faded compared to the image on the laptop
Should look faded on paper once you transfer it’ll brighten up

Did you have a problem with your colors and missing segments?
The 1st print had 2 missing segments as shown. But i left it like that because i know once i started printing it would fill in. If yours has alot of missing segments. I recommend a nozzle clean so it can unclog.
Mine has a ton of segments missing. Should I just perform nozzle cleanings until all segments are filled back in? :/
I once had to nozzle clean my regular printer about 4 or 5 times till all the segments were back. It takes time sometimes if theyre badly clogged.
@@LilyRoseCraftroom girl so far I'm at 23 cleanings :/ ... this printer is brand new, literally bought it today.. Not my first sub printer either. I've never had this problem before... the segments haven't moved. They're still exactly the same lines. It's the Cyan. All the other colors are fine. I don't know what to do...

Do you use sublimation paper?
Yes. For sublimation printing you'll need sublimation paper.
