Poland's Adrian Edward Zielinski wins gold in the men's 85kg weightlifting event in the ExCeL - South Arena 3 at the London 2012 Olympic Games (3 August 2012).
Russia's Apti Aukhadov won silver in the event with Iran's Kianoush Rostami claiming bronze.
Although men's weightlifting has always been on the programme of the Olympic Games - except for at the 1900, 1908 and 1912 editions -- women started to participate only at the 2000 Games in Sydney.
The Olympic weightlifting programme has evolved greatly over time. Today, weightlifters compete in snatch and clean and jerk, and are placed according to their total combined result. From the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, men have competed in eight weight categories and women in seven. This total of 15 events remains unchanged.

These days Adrian's gold medal lift would have been ruled a "No lift" via press out
One thing I wondered at several points throughout these, otherwise very well organised, games was where they got some of the interpreters from. Several were very weak and almost incomprehensible. I can't believe, for example, that the BBC could not find a Polish interpreter without such a strong accent given that there are millions of Poles living in the UK.

Apti Aukhadov perdió la plata por dopaje.
Adrián Zielinsky cambio de categoría, pero antes de competir fue descalificado por dar positivo en un control antidoping.
179kg snatch wtf these people are crazy strong
Bro weightlifters are more powerful than strong men and powerlifters if we compare pound to pound bodyweight and lifts even a 56-60 kg weightlifter can clean and jerk 160-180 kg but a powerlifter of that weight can't lift it even for a proper shrug deadlift
I guess so many forget that even back in 1980 they were lifting nearly 230 kg in c& j.
Lifting belts started disappearing because of David Rigert.
Poland !
The muscles on these guys are UNREAL!
Poor Lu Yong, such a great snatch but didnt make it in the C&J
Polska siła. 💪
Brawo Adrian! Polska :DD
Tian Tao will capture gold in 2016
