    I let one of these slip through my hands back in the winter of 2019. Dude was having money problems and his boat was beside mine at the marina so we knew each other pretty well. I know what he paid for it and how much he loved it. And I felt like I was taking advantage of him even though he set the price.
    His wife ended up taking it in the divorce then she trashed it. And finally last April the bank came and got it. It had gas in the fuel tanks, all the navigation electronics were gone, it seemed like every part of that Beautiful boat was broken and abused.
    I also haven't seen my friend again. I realize he loved that boat so much he wanted to see it taken care of. That's why he wanted me to take it. I tried to do the right thing and ended up doing the wrong thing. Life is strange sometimes.

      Life isn't strange...it simply allows you to make mistakes like that so that you can learn from them and become wise. After things like that that happen once, ideally you'll learn your lesson and not make the same mistake again in the future. And in the end, you realize that all of your "mistakes" were stepping stones that were needed to bring you to where you are now, so they weren't really mistakes at all.

    WOW...just went and checked the 'deeper specs' on the L650...only 165 gallons of tank water, no water-maker aboard (with all those showers?!), and fuel consumption gets INSANE above 1000-rpm (28+ gallons per hour?!). Well, it's a bay runner, not a extended range trawler, I'll give it that...(for those not familiar with salt-water craft, I'd recommend checking out the Jay Benford 55-ft Extended Range Trawlers...10-kts cruise, but 8000-mile range, too...and 600-gpd water-making, for less than the Sea Ray's price).

    Great boat. Why did searay give up on this line of boats

    • @YachtAddiction
      @YachtAddiction  3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      This is a mix my own assumptions plus info from Sea Ray directly.. but this class was introduced in 2014 to compete with the luxury yacht brands that get imported from other countries. The boat is reviewed well and comes highly equipped. But any new yacht model will come with warranty issues which can be costly for a manufacturer to remedy. There is stiff competition in this size range and competitors who have been in the space for 30 plus years have a big advantage. It is easy to lose millions and it wasn't worth the continued risk. Sea Ray always have dominated the smaller sub 40 foot category in the US so the decision was made in 2018 to focus 100% on that segment. It was a safer bet for the company. Thanks for watching! :)

    • @Toobula
      @Toobula ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I own a Sea Ray. When you say parts, the only problem would be the custom parts like the locker covers and so on. But the stuff that would break - the plumbing, chairs, winch, electronics, parts for the genny - are all available from their manufacturers. My boat is 16 years old and I can still replace the Bennett trim tabs, swim ladder, lighting fixtures, etc etc. They were all selected from solid manufacturers.

      You obviously do NOT own a boat, nor have ever spent much time on a nice one. TVs can play music videos, kids can get out of the sun and watch movies, if you are going on a long trip or if it rains, also if the Big football game is one, you can watch that in the cockpit. It can also provide you a break while the rest of your guests get ready in their rooms for a big night out....Its okay, you will never own a boat like this, nor know anyone else who does, and likely you will never be on it. Dont complain.

    I was actually surprised with that much focus on the 3 heads (4, if you count the crew head), that there was no mention of any of the water systems aboard. Does it have a water-maker or is it using 'tank water'? Is it pump-out only, or does it have off-shore dump? What size black water tank does it have? Whole boat key-system, with no details mentioned...otherwise, not bad for a bay runner.

    Wonderful and informative tour with great video quality. Well done, sir. My only concern regarding the boat is that pull-out grill on the starboard side of the cockpit. It locks into place when not in use. Does it also lock into place when it is being used? I'd hate to have a hot grill suddenly slide back shut into the compartment and spill my food everywhere.

    That was a good detailed description of the L650 . I really enjoyed it. I didn't know it had so much space and the master suite looks awesome. I think for a beginner boat owner this would be the ideal purchase. Again thanks allot

      Beginner YACHT owner. Veteran BOAT owner. A beginner would be a hazard driving or docking that hing. Never mind the maintenance tricks even if you had someone to help most of the time. That shit ain't fun.

    Sea Ray, the Chevy of boats.
    I like it but you could sound a wee bit more excited when showing this beauty's numerous features imho. 😄 you've probably seen so sooo many of these luxury boats that it takes a lot to impress you but you did do a good thorough job 👏 fosho!! 😉😘😉😘😉😘😉
    Anyone wondering where the 19 trillion in stimulus debt is going to come from should realize there are MILLIONS of these luxury items/toys/jewelry/art/homes/planes etc etc in USA and the wealthy have taken too much. Tax them more fairly and low and behold that 19 trillion will be repaid, rapidly! And the wealthy will STILL keep their luxury toys and homes. They must pay more taxes! They have benefited TOO MUCH.
    Democrats suck but they are historically proven to be better than Republicans because our overall economy has always done better for middle America!
    Save the middle class, it's a start! Vote BLUE!!!!!!

      Sea Ray discontinued manufacturing boats over 40 feet a few years ago mainly because they never made money at it and this boat is a perfect example. The "Yacht" line was priced on par with other manufacturers like Tiara, Princess, Pershing just to name a few but they lacked the quality and seaworthiness of pretty much all of their competitors. Sea Rays are extremely popular on the Great Lakes and inland lakes and rivers but less so on the ocean. Go to a marina in Chicago or anywhere in Michigan or Ohio and you will see a high percentage of the boats being Sea Rays. Look on the east coast and/or Florida and the ratio is much, much less. They are floating condos that put cabin comfort first and ride quality and ability to handle rough water way down the list.

      @@kbrown1350 You’re pretty much right. I love Sea Rays but if I heard correctly, a range of only 275 miles isn’t much, even inland. Their current line up is pretty sad - they abandoned the top end market but also shrunk their specialty which was the express cruiser segment in favor of bow rider-type vessels. No more 24-30 foot Sundancers that you could sleep overnight on and still trailer. They do have a few in the 32 foot plus range but they have a look only a mother could love.

    4:31 that a nice & different way to utilize that deals space in the corner under the countertop 🆚 the lazy Suzanne swing out shelving, while holding items taken up by the nice double set of fridge/freezer draws (providing more cold storage space then normally seen on similar sized yachts) 🛥

    If you have to have a crew on this boat, you probably should not be a boat owner......................................... not to mention WHO would put up with crew accomodations that crummy. they could use that space for other things.

    My bathroom mirror has lights also and my shower has a wall to wall bench as well(which I love). I would be very happy to own a 650 with a Dodge 3500 4x4 dually.

    As an Asian, I don't understand. Why is it that people take their shoes off going into a boat (a depreciating asset) but, not into their house (an appreciating asset)?! If you don't want the crap from your shoes in the yacht why would you be ok with it rubbed into your carpet or on your tile/wood floors?! It makes zero sense to me. Figured you guys needed an Asian man's opinion.

    Good tour, but not a fan of these weird-geometry bubble boats. The galley would be more useful after to service the forward diners as well as the cockpit guests. Oh, and that rising glassware gizmo is silly. I can imagine The Girl From Ipanema playing most of its way through as you wait around for the plates to come up. I would think that Their Largest would be more refined.

    I find the boat very underwhelming for it's size and for a builder like Sea Ray. The 580 Sundancer was designed far better and is far more functional.

    It's really not what I think of when I think of a yacht. It has the Quality found in a nice 5th wheel . I didn't see Radar on or if it did I didn't hear you mention it but after seeing 3/4 of the video and not finding anything that appealed to me maybe you mention it at the end and I just missed it. Guy did a good job . The boat just does not have the filthy rich feel . To tell the truth for 1.5 million I could get a better house boat.

  • @jslade60

    I like everything but the choice of laminate wood in the boat. I think a deep mahogany would have been a nicer more luxurious choice! If I bought it, it would have to go straight to the shipyard and have the interior tweeked! That would definitely drive the price up and would it be worth it?

    Beautiful boat, but your video is very hard to watch. Why? Because of your camera work, please work on it, you will get better. Watch your own video and see. The fast movements are hard on the eyes and distort the sharpness and focus. I'm not trying to hurt you, but help you. Blessings as you continue.
