i did a test in Pc2 once, but you had to keep the revs low to not blow the engine on those endless straight. cant remember the time but it was definetly under 12 min
And it is one of the main factors behind the Ackermann effect. Pretty neat to see that in a game, for all other sim racings games have not put that into their simulations! Gotta buy my copy of the game!
I have flashbacks to when i used to race the first time i heard the audio lol. I loved the x30 engine. By far my favorite single speed engine to use. Now he just needs the yamaha engines, Those made a very unique noise.
I raced Karts for 22 years, and the one thing that all karting games do wrong is that the chassis sits too flat. It’s so difficult to replicate the flex in the chassis, and the outside bite from the weight distribution of the driver moving in the seat. The feeling of being on 3 wheels every corner. In reality, you would use the steering wheel to simply point the kart into a corner, the weight would transfer onto the outside wheels and “dig”, and use the outside bite to carry you through the corner with very minimal steering input. You barely even need to move a steering wheel on a kart.
Have to agree with altought i dont really have that feeling of only driving on 3 wheels but i saw it when i analysed a video that was filmed of me. But your description sounds very accurate
Iceman ___ Well, you aren’t literally driving on three wheels haha, but you essentially are during a corner. I should’ve elaborated that. All the weight transfers to the outside, the kart flexes, and the inside rear picks up and essentially skins across the surface of the track. Sometimes you can physically see that inside rear pick up on initial entry to a corner with a soft axle and bitey rear haha. Too soft and the kart flexes too much and causes massive grip and “bog” through corners. Too stiff and the kart doesn’t flex enough so that inside rear doesn’t lift enough and gives you a “skatey” rear, and also potentially too much push on the front.
I think i know what you mean i just can't really put it into words as most is insticual. Though i have to say i was in the x30 equivalent the kf3 at that time always a were stiff setup
Thanks for the video, I’ve now had a chance to drive this sim. And have been a karter for yrs. You’d be best served going to a kart track and understanding how they handle to appreciate this simulation imho. Unlike expensive cars this is not an outta reach idea either. Braking seemed to be your nemesis on this video. You kinda only brake to be able to engage a fraction of the front end steering angle “understeer friction” ,well before turn in as to help rear rotation way earlier than you demonstrate. A lot of the time you can achieve this just via comprehension without brakes. You need to be in control of the rear end oversteer slip angle via the throttle nearly all lap and well before any apex, more at initial turn in. In tight sections thats all your really doing, a flick turn in and counter steer rear rotation, Steering the kart from the rear. (Dirt on iracing comes to mind. Heaps of understeer if driven incorrectly. Or rallycross even). The steering lock on a kart is so minimal you cant do a 30 meter uturn without rear throttle control. So a hair pin is 100% negotiated by the rear end slip. “You dont steer around like a car on a street, drive it like you stole it as a minimum) I’d have to admit the sim when driven with intent is very accurate and very drivable. To a point that there’s nothing out there that I know that represents the attitude of driving more correctly. Maybe dirt on iracing. Obviously theres no seat of the pants feel, but there’s plenty of steering ffb to simulate that rear end feel. Like dirt on iracing. In a real kart you don’t really feel understeer at pace through the wheel. It’s something you train yourself to minimise, it comes on very quick if you haven’t flicked the back to an over steer state. And as you mentioned its the same in this sim. There’s no weight on the front just your 2 feet. But the rear rotation through the wheels ffb is very detailed to help represented grip. The tires heat up brilliantly and maintain a good grip level through all slip angles that you can work with nicely. I feel iracing is yet to master that on the road cars compared to its dirt model. It’s a thumbs up from me and kinda can teach you the fundamentals of sim racing as karts do in the real world too. It’s probably the best training tool before we hop onto iracing. But again iracing lacks the rear end tire feel or some people say they over heat too quick no allowing you time to maintain throttle rear rotation grip . Maybe if iracing could achieve the same rear grip feel on road tracks as it’s dirt modelling it’ll be closer.
Spot on about the distortion of engine sounds, i will say thats one of the reasons i love Rush, the sound was loud but it made you feel like you were there watchimg hunt in his glory
Your apexes were spot on, Jimmer. The only problem is that you have not yet understood how the kart drives and corners. Use the brake to slow down enough, and that enough is about the necessary to rotate the back to the place where you want the kart to turn in, then you use the throttle and the steering wheel to complete the rotation. The kart MUST be quick to turn, and you need to have enough feeling to learn when the kart will slip out too much. That is the secret. As soon as you understand that the kart is slipping its back too much, ease off the throttle JUST a little bit, or a quick bad on the brake and it will get the grip you need. And slow down a bit more before the corners, when the kart understeers, it is because you are too fast going into the corner. Been driving karts from a few years, now. Try those tips, you may have a surprise! Cheers!
as a kart racer theres a few things you gotta do, break harder for a shorter amount of time, if done correctly this will cause the rear of the kart to rotate then feed the throttle on quickly if not smash the throttle and drive it out
Buzzing that you chose my local track. They’ve done a good job of it too, looks pretty much spot on. The curbs look a bit new but other than that the attention to detail is great!
Ok, was feeling sad because I only have an Xbox but now I know it’s on console... I think this might be the most excited I’ve been for a sim full stop. I get to drive one of the best forms of motorsport on a wheel from my own home now which is absolute pog. I’ve been to PFi a couple of times (never actually raced there though - never raced full stop but I have driven a mini max once or twice) including the world champs last year and I can say that the karts behaviour looks exactly like an X30 does round there in real life. From the clipping-the-kerb-into-massive-slide to the constantly on edge handling... epic. Also, little tip, try using more kerb in the first chicane and more turn in on the first corner going of the bridge. Enough ranting from me though
It looks superb. There is actually quite a bit of flex in the tires in real life. And there is a MASSIVE difference from cold to hot tires. Tires get so sticky they kinda glue to the track when you park the kart after a session. Steering input must be super smooth. Turning the kart scrubs of speed no matter how little. Solid rear axle creates high rolling resistance when turning. Brake balance is 100% rear, so that is why you need to be careful. Force feedback should be MASSIVE! You feel every single stone in the road. I have 5 classic pre-2000 karts in my garage and I've been racing those on and off for the last 20+ years.
As you said you don’t race Karts but when driving Karts a lot of it is visual as it is so light it moves around so quickly. So that’s actually more accurate than you might think. It definitely won’t give the best playing experience but it is more realistic than all the feedback instead.
That engine sound is too real I'm having PTSD flash backs.Oh god the arm pump , the tortured neck muscles and the price of maintenance. It was just like nam except everyone was trying to kill each other with karts instead of guns.
As a karting driver that has driven an IAME X30 on PFI I have to say this looks very accurate, handling looks very realistic aswell. The kerbs seem to unbalance the kart a bit more than normal but that may be setup aswell has his steering input
As someone who currently races an x30, the sounds are absolutely spot-on. The track I race at is quite different to most, so I can’t comment too much on how the handling of the kart looks, but the reactions and steering effects look pretty correct
Also it is definitely better to rotate using the brake rather than the throttle in most karts, as they have centrifugal clutches, so getting on the throttle causes it to direct drive and will induce understeer almost every time
I have to agree that he should use the brake to turn but you will also can use the throttle really depends on the driving style and engine because you can actually use that understeer
You need to stab the brake corner entry, knocks the back sideways. Grab it and do a controlled drift. You'll avoid mid corner understeer you're getting.

Will definitvly try put aside some money for this game in the future. Ben playing a bunch of the kart mod for AC and this just looks like a better version of that!
visually it's amazing and I've raced at PF (the old PF) in a Rotax Max, Biland and Aixro and karts do not handle like Kartkraft does. Yes, very little steering lock but there is no play, whatsoever in the feel which on Kartkraft is all too evident. Stiffen it up! For example the right hander at the end of the last straight is flatout, also the chicane coming on to the start-finish. It feels impossible in KK today. I'll be visiting them in a couple of weeks to try again ;-)
I know others say its normal, but I agree. It does look kinda odd. Almost as if you'd need double jointed wrists to keep holding it there. I just couldn't take my eyes off the hand position for the first couple of minutes because of it.

"If you're a game-pad user, maybe STEER CLEAR for now" - buh dump bump TISH
Make sure you get the tyres pattering under braking jimmer and use those kerbs when it's wet
Only driven a kart twice *shocked face*. Jimmer you need to do an IRL Kart video when you get the opportunity.
I love this game since i have bought it, it's really immersive, addictive and funny
I’m a BKC Karter irl and I’ve raced round PFI try and stay off the Kerbs apart from the final corner and T3 entrance
Gameapds are easy. Adjust the steering settings in the settings menu to suit your controller. The same applies to steering wheels, etc.

Me. is this the best it got?

Jimmer: Hold my beer!
These karts are hard work but fun used to race at ellough park UK was fun. Smoothness is key and uve got to use the littlest steering input.
The karts actually all handle differently
ITS FINALLY OUT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR SO LONG
2018 Jimmy, future here... pay attention to the Billboard and the bottom of the circuit... they will be a big part of your 2021....
You're 2 seconds off the WR,not bad Jimmy :)
Jimmy: I, A, M, E
Karting kids: IIIIIIIIIIIAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
There is a aid for controller that makes it easy to use, also the game pad is within 2 tenths of wheel so its pretty competitive
Doing it with a gamepad is difficult but doable. Just play with the settings on inputs and you are fine.
I've played it with a controller , feels very nice indeed !!
Imagine if they came out with a force feedback attachment for the switch. This would be amazing.
Just so you know, Geelong is pronounce 'Jee-Long' or as the locals say 'Jah-Long'
KartSim on RF2 is much more compelling at the moment but I'm hoping the KartKraft guys figure it out before full release
Unaccurate: it’s sunny at PFI
This needs VR. Would be immense !
I actually drive karts just like that but I drive a top kart and I really hope my track and kart brand is in the game
Looks great... the hand position on the wheel feels a bit low to me
Nah, the position of most drivers is around there with some exceptions.
That's a quite common way to handle the wheel on a kart
Its quite ok
I know others say its normal, but I agree. It does look kinda odd. Almost as if you'd need double jointed wrists to keep holding it there. I just couldn't take my eyes off the hand position for the first couple of minutes because of it.
@@anythingpeteives It's the over-flexible wrists that make me wince a bit!
have always wanted to buy a used gokart and race across the old tar farm roads here ...
Who told you that all sims add artificial effects to the wheel to make up for seat-of-pants feel?
KartKraft... was expecting a gokart game on a blocky-like environment
