I don't think I have ever seen a more focused Kyrgios. No shenanigans. No drama. Pure tennis. 💪🏾
Yeah that was indeed good to see. I think he also likes GMP because his game is quite unorthodox and nonconformist.
Absolutely. best version of Kyrgios I have ever seen. He lost though. Giovanni is a beast!
Let's hope he plays AUS open and can continue this 'focused' mindset. Would be amazing if he got to the QF / SF and faced a Sinner or Carlos.

People are generally to busy dissing Kyrgios to realize Mpetshi is a huge fckn threat to the biggest players
If he serves like that, who can even return it, I swear every ace he did was touching the paint.
Yeah he's not just a serve-bot either. He's got good hands and court craft too. No-one will want to draw him early in a tournament next year.
Nicki is a tool and a fool, but anyone dissing him after this great effort are even bigger tool and a fool.
@hertor8803 But he needs to have a proper slice backhand pretty quick otherwise he will get crush !
My brother thank you. I thought I was the only one thinking this but Mpetsi is a real threat for Jannik and Alcaraz. He's gonna be a big contender for the slams and the masters this year: very deadly.
i think still good performance by nick despite his long time no play in high competitive matches, his opponent is future star
True. Also is GMP a better server than Nick statistically? I don’t know how to find those stats
@@SnapScaperHe's a better server. He's much taller too.
@@Blue-ik8ij Damn.
@SnapScaper i think there is no better server than Perricard
@@prking9314 Damn! What about Isner? Also how do I find the stats for serves, the'yre not there. I'm actually dumb 😅
These are the best highlights. High video quality and long.
I agree
Absolutely no rally to show between 2-2 and 6-6 in the 5th set ? I don't buy it.
@@TheBackwasher indeed it ended way too fast :'(
@@TheBackwasher there were few rallies actually, I watched it live. Both served their ass off especially Pericard
@@TheBackwasheri mean at like 4-4 in the deciding they were both doing pratically aces games so
Perricard is such an interesting player... would have loved to see this match-up a bit later in the tournament
Perricard made 36 aces… none of them in this highlights? Anyway I’m falling in love with his backhand 🤩
I prefer his serve thanks.
That could be it's own highlight reel😮😮😮
O backhand dele é ruim e você está amando? KKKKK
Pretty sure they showed the one that won him the first set tie breaker. Watch more closely before commenting
@dareemmanuel6079 1 out of 36? ....and it's the most dominant shot in tennis at the moment?
lmfao
What a tool.
TBF was not a bad performance for Kyrgios; welcome back!!! GMP played amazingly. His service game is hard to break, especially on a fast court like this.
Nick needed to slice the return more, aim for the feet when you’re playing serve bots
Amazing performance by Kyrgios who almost beat a top 30 ranked player after a 2+ year absence from the sport.
If he played almost any other player I think he would have won. The guy is 6.8' and serves 220km on average. It is a ridiculous advantage to have.
Spot On.. 👍
That really depends on who he'd have played though. Any semi elite who can rally consistently would be able to beat kyrgios. @JohnCranberry23
Kyrgios is before all an extremely good player , even if I don’t like him as a person with a good level of vulgarity from my point of view. But this player in a good day can beat everybody for sure and after such a long stop I found him very impressive
"after a 2+ year absence from the sport"
- Not forgetting of course, in the 10+ years he was on tour before that, he only ever won 500 series events (all on hard court only). He has never won a masters 1000, has never won a grand slam, has never been in the top 10.
Fascinating matchup. Thanks for the great highlights!
My dream matchup finally took place
Top class match, love Perricards game.. Monster serves, monster forehands and a 1 handed backhand that can bang as well.
While Nick used to have the toughest serve on tour, this young guy serves like cannon
i had the feeling Nick was managing some problem with his wrist, didn't go 100% on his serves in my opinion
I was at the match. The sound coming from GMP’s racquet when he served was huge!
Nick did surprisingly well for the amount of time he’s had off. The Mpetshi has a bright future for sure.
Perricard moves amazingly well on court for a player his height and length of limb. It allows him to setup, chase and efen pounce gracefully.
How long _is_ his limb?

Great Highlights..
Giovanni is Surely Heading Top ( 10 )
Nick Well Done Fella.. 👍👏💪..
Been waiting for Nick's return! Most entertaining player on tour! I hope he wins a GS this year!!
"Most entertaining player on tour"
- I guess if you're into clowns!!
In your dreams. He is no good in 5-setters.
Gs???ahah nice joke, he'll be kicked out at first round in any slam and I don't think he can use the protected rank forever, I guess this is his last year in the tour, otherwise he should make qualifying in the challengers too
Absolutely.
Have Been Waiting For Nick's Return.

Talented, Raw Talent.

Amazing play from Nic - great return.
Indeed.
Well Done Mr. Nick.
Perricard is going to finish top 10 next year
lol
Perri is going to win Wimbledon 2025.
It's possible but if he has an off day on serve he's very vulnerable.
@@JAM-fm8lt😂
What a joke 😂 serve bot can’t win gs
Perricard's backhand is awesome
he needs to make 1h bh great again.
Better than Tsitsipas's, that's for sure.
Monstrueux Perricard. Il est la futur star du tennis français et mondial. En plus revers à une main magnifique, jeu offensif, un régal à voir jouer
I want to see Perricard win Grand Slams.....Lovely tennis. And, i'm a fan of Kyrgios.
He's capable thats for sure!
Me too..
I'm a fan of both of these guys n happy to see Nick back n playing so well❤Perricard is definitely in line for some grand slam wins. His level of play is high n he has a dynamite serve
4:45 that's a crazy play
Mpetshi Perricard is one of my new favorite players, he's so dialed in right now.
A wonderful match. Perricard proved his mettle against a wily opponent in Kyrgios. He has a bright future...Bravo on this win❤I also appreciate the way the Australian crowd applauded this young man who triumphed over one of their own. Nothing like the French crowd who can be very hostile to players competing against their countrymen
Perricard is so good. I can't wait to see more of him.
Good? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@peaballuYes he is. And you, what’s your ranking ?
Really impressed with Nick!!
Thank you Giovanni 🇫🇷❤️
Did you win money on him?
@NihilisticHedonism nope, it's just I love tennis without clowns on the court✨️🥰
Grazie Giovanni hai tolto dalla competizione un pagliaccio!
Glad GMP won! Love his game and demeanor! The huge serve, volleys, and one-handed backhand are enjoyable to watch!
He needs to improve on return games .and baseline consistency..0 break point out of 2. Is unacceptable..
The dhb may be the stock in trade for most top ranked players but when someone masters the shb it’s both a joy to watch and a beautiful weapon
People love or hate NK but they’ll all tune in to watch him 😂
Wrong. I deliberately avoided watching the match. I'm here to watch the highlights of him losing.
Not forgetting of course, he has only ever won 500 series events (all on hard court only). He has never won a masters 1000, has never won a grand slam, has never been in the top 10.
@ wrong. He would have been top 10 after his Wimbledon 2022 run but he didn’t get points.
@@t-bone7988 "but he didn’t get points"
- The same applied to all other players!!
- But hey, if you want to hang your hat on that one. Gee, apparently he's been one of the best players on tour and yet all he can win are 500 series events. Yep, that's Top 10 material right there!!
@@thepsychologist8159 definitely a casual 😂
@@thepsychologist8159I've seen you littered across every comment section in here brother 😂 You gotta reflect on how much of your precious energy you're using to not only watch a man you incessantly hate on, but also replying to every comment. The Kyrgios effect I guess... People hate him but will still tune in to watch. He could beat anyone on tour - and that's coming from the greatest of all time, so quite literally no one cares about your opinion on this matter. Turn off your phone and reflect on why this man makes you so insecure that you have to engage in so much pointless discussion about him.
Amazing games from both of them. I hope Nick won, but Perricard is rising star that will shine in 2025.
What a great highlights package ❤💪
Thank you for the awesome coverage!
Didn't really want either to lose. Gio MP is a major winner of the future for sure, beast of a serve, has all the shots and is incredibly humble. His coach has done a fantastic job with him. A good litmus marker for Kygrios too.
Toss up until the last ball. Impressive level from Kyrgios. Anyone who follows the tour knows all about Mpetshi Perricard already. Huge threat to anyone right now so good from Kyrgios to match his level already. And I'm even more impressed by his positive on-court attitude. Looking forward to his next matches.
So AM I
These highlights are amazing!
Beautiful to see Mpetshi Perricard’s all court game, highly enjoyable. I believe he is going win Wimbledon very near future👍🏾. I always enjoy Kyrgios tennis, he is very , very talented player and today he played a very good game. Hope he will win a major 🙏
Nick level was so high for his first game after so long .. imagine after 5 game, 10 game.. welcome home king
Well they played 39 games in this match so we don’t have to imagine!
Hope his wrist will be ok

The game is exciting without that clown
great to see Nick back!!!!
GMP has really improved his volleying skills. Going to be a real threat this year to the top players.
Wide World of Sports please consider uploading highlights from the whole tennis season! Great job!
I watched this match in its entirety, and I must say that Nick was walking from one corner of the baseline to the other watching aces go right by him at one point in the third set. This was a tactically genius match from both with a few mental lapses on occasions with short balls at the net, but it was a VERY entertaining match from start to finish. If Nick remains this focused as he was today, he’s going to be hell when he’s well. Can’t say enough about that rocket coming from GMP. Both of their motions are eerily similar with that low ball toss that they can hit ANY corner of the service line with. Looking forward to what the year of tennis will bring already.
Excited to see what Perricard brings in 2025. He’s a threat. Happy to see Kyrgios back, but with a solid mental and emotional foundation. Looking forward to epic year of tennis.🎾🔥
This is a great test and head to head for both! Amazing serves. Kyrios is dialing it down and not overpowering it. Perricard is a thunderstorm on the serve. :O
amazing players, just impressed with the level nick is at so soon
Great test that for kyrgios to see how he holds up returning against one of the best serves on tour
This guy made Kyrgios look small. A big guy with lots of power and also moving really well like Perricard is extremely tough to beat.
Giovani definitely finishing the year 2025 as a top 10. No doubt about that at all.
Nick played amazingly well today too for someone who'd been out for a very long time
So happy to see Nick play again

Me Toooooo!!
great match! wish there was more on the third set looked like a very interesting tie breaker
Perrycard and Joao Fonseca are two young players with huge potential. Another 2 years these guys could be in the top 20 or possibly top 10.
Such a great game for both players!
Make this fooking sport great again!!!
Serving masterclass from both players
wow kyrgios without any tantrums?! if he stays calm he can beat anyone. imagine this is his first tourmatch after 2 years against a player with a ultra servebot service and really good allcourt game.
Omg this should have been a final both were fantastic. Nick so focused played super well no rust prepared. Nick ran into a buzz saw PERIOD. the serve by perricard left nick a fraction of a second to respond and he returned so well but perricard is just phenomenal he’s unreal. 😂 I guess you can tell I’m excited just wow.
A new talent player, he will surely get into top 5 very soon
nah lol
@@wstewyes
Give him 6 more months and Sinner, Alcarez and co will struggle to beat him.
I vouch for Mpetshi Perricard because he is among the rare new gen Tennis ATP players using one handed backhand and furthermore he is using that powerful Babolat Pure Drive.
Promising player indeed. Looking forward for more of his matches.
The scores show how tight the fight was. Amazing tennis! 🎾
Perricard is huge!!!!!!!!!! Nice to see a one handed backhand too!
Mpetshi- Perricard has quite an aura about him. Supremely confident with a game to match.
Insane first round for nick but a great performance !
I thought the match was boring serve bot based on score but this highlights show how good they both are and how close it was.
Great match for both players
Lots of eyes watched
Nick played as good as I have ever seen, Perricard another level... when they shook hands at the end. Perricard looms over Nick who is 6 foot four. Huge frame and talent to back it up.
Glad to see Nick back
glad to see Nick out....!!!
Perricard is a huge unit
That's what she said
Well done to Nick Kyrgios. It is a great singles performance after being out for 2 years. Great discipline throughout the match. But I think verbally up-lauding opponents good shots boosts their confidence. Good job neutralising the big serve. Three great sets that could have gone either way. Very excited for Nick Kyrgios at the AO.

Lovely.
Glad Our Nick Is Back.
OUR NICK IS BACK!!!
good game we want more of nick
This is a very very bitter medicine for Kyrgios… Forza Jannik Sinner 💪💪💪
What a match. Both players deserved to win.
And he wants to go up against Sinner...
Hopefully Nick does play Sinner and gets handed a 🥯
What are you on about? He played a great match dummy. You might not like him but you’ll still tune in to watch him 😂
Respectfully would like to see sinner returning every one of those 40 odd aces
@searchingforspots no he won't.
Considering this was the tool and a fool second comptetive match since he was injured, no way Sinner will be handing out donought to him.
Serve is the most important part in tennis. His serve is better than Sinner.
Have you even seen the match u knobhead?
They need editors from the Cricket Australia highlights team. Absolutely no points shown between 2-2 and 6-6 (6-3) in the decider.
From the highlight cut, I can imagine this as a big serving contest. Probably the two best servers on the two.
Perricard…
J’ADORE ce joueur.
Good level from Kyrgrios after a long absence!
Never seen Kyrigos play such orthodox tennis and with such composure. And the result was visible that he pushed Pericard to end and after such a long break. Not the result he was looking for but a Positive way to start the season.
So funny to see Kyrgios looking upwards when he shakes hands at the net being that hes usually taller than the player he faces. Great play by both and Nick seems to be in good form.
It is a pleasure to watch the one-handed backhand play. Perricard has talent and great potential
Exciting beautiful tennis
Perricard... WoW..I hope he's the real deal...plus one handed backhand!!!!
that was a great comeback match by Kyrgios. but he ran into a phenomenal in-form player.
Nick is handling Perricard's serves exceptionally well. Perricard's second serves are quicker than many ATP players' first serves. Both Nick and Perricard will undoubtedly pose a serious challenge to the seeded players at the Australian Open. To me Nick still have the most natural serve on the tour!
Perricard will be seeded himself but yes, watch out for Krygios.
"Nick still have the most natural serve on the tour!"
- Seems to have worked out well for him so far. Not forgetting of course, he has only ever won 500 series events (all on hard court only). He has never won a masters 1000, has never won a grand slam, has never been in the top 10.
If Mpetshi fine tunes the rest of his game to match the efficiency of that killer serve, he definitely be the one to watch this summer for sure
Forget what I said about Nick Kyrgios as not motivated and most likely not coming back at the highest level, but I was wrong. I wish Nick Kyrgios will improve his game til AO start.
It's just the first match, wait few months and he will get back to his Twitter
certainly not an easy player to face in your first match back on tour... let's hope his wrist issues were nothing serious
@@al1976-v7mi think its serious😢
What a 1st round match! Who can doubt any more that GMP is headed for the top 10? You really get an idea of how big he is physically as he towers over the 6'4" Kyrgyos.
Honestly, this is the humbling Kyrgios needed. He would have been such a tool if he continued on.
Good head game from kygrios. Awesome to see. I say otherwise with his comments about sinner, but damn good stuff from NK.
Perricard has top 10 written all over him. Top 20 in 2025 is almost a certainty. Serve is devastating and for a big guy he moves amazing.
i really appreciated Kyrgios focused and no b.s.. obviously Perricard is a monster physically, but he also seems to have the temperment, intelligence and focus to succeed.
As a French Sinner fan, this match was delightful
Because Nick called out Sinner for cheating? He failed a drugs test. Nick is 100% spot on
I am excited by Gio
Perricard take the pressure like a champ
From the newspaper it sounded like it was all serves but I here you have some fun rallies and even touch play. This guy Perricard, I predict will be a beast, he's not just a big serve like some of the other guys (e.g. Isner, Karlovic).
Thanks to both players !
Great match Nick
That French guy is a beast! He makes Kyrios look SMALL in every way.. wow.
When he's focused Krygios's showed he still has the game. Even more impressive against the biggest hitter in the ATP
