This is great titorial for who want to learn produce music.. back then i was struggling with 16 track and limited low polyphonic and 1 sound effect... now everybody can make music like charlie puth or pro DJ
Cool tutorial, thanks Jeremy! I bought the Yamaha PSS-A50 second hand earlier this year 2024 and only recently discovered its MIDI capabilities. Your video was a good guide and made me also discover the free version of Native Instruments Access sound library management software. I installed a few libraries and the application Kontakt 8. It is a bit overwhelming to start with but with some practice (and more TH-cam tutorials!), many things can be learnt. I couldn't find the "Factory" sounds that you used in your video 4 years ago: maybe they are in the Kontakt 6 or 7 that I didn't have space to download? Gotta free storage on my MacBook Pro, and possibly store the NI software data on an external drive by using symbolic links / Symlinks in macOS.
This is amazing. I'm a frustrated musician, I don't think I have the talent to perform, that is, to play an instrument in front of people. However, I think I have some interesting musical ideas in my head, and this Keyboard will be the perfect way of materializing those into something tangible I can show other people. Thanks for this vídeo.
That is how I feel and why I bought this keyboard. It is coming in the post - I am excited and will follow up on this tutorial later and this software and give this a go. I want to play sound patches with choies in really loud and sound samples like on an 80s Fairlight via my pss 50.
WOW... You are amazing Jeremy..... The Komplete start will be a instant download for me.. Free is always good, and it has great potential.. Thanks again..
I'm so happy that Yamaha's back again with the PSS series. Who knows. May be they will make more of these, and perhaps a VSS keyboard, something they haven't done in 35 years now. Please Yamaha, continue this range. Casio chould also come back to their SA and SK brands in my opinion.
Hi LOGiQ, if you are just using your computers on board sound you can reduce the latency (delay) by installing a free driver called ASIO4ALL. It works with all ASIO compatible DAWs including Cakewalk and will get rid of the delay. There are plenty of videos on youtube showing you how to use it. Just search ASIO4ALL. Hope this helps.
Your videos are clear, informative and impressive! Is there any way Harmonium, tabla, Indian songs, tunes or the indian styles from yamaha webpage for PSR series can be added to this keyboard? Thank you.
HI. Jeremy. Hope you are very well. Enjoy your videos. Cakewalk not available for Mac. Do you have any suggestion of a software, kind of Cakewalk, for Mac. that is free or more affordable? Thanks so much.
Awesome video Jeremy. Thanks for all the content. Can I request you to do a small video about the phrase record function on this? How is that as a practice tool? How would you rate the MIDI functionality on this one?
the factory library is not included in the kontakt player version, its a kontakt library elements one, otherwise you will need the retail version of kontakt
The factory selection is part of Komplete Start which includes Kontakt Player. I have confirmed with a clean install. Not all instruments are available but most have similar replacements. 😉
@@JeremySee ahn ok jeremy, for me no problem i have the retail version kontakt 6 and a lot of libraries,my last purchases, sonuscore the orchestra 2 and the audio imperia bundle, have a nice day m8

Was looking for the same yamaha and the same DAW, so ,perfect, thanks a lot. I think we can choose many plug-in for lo-fi sound so , I will come later if I'm to stupid for this :)
While it's not vital to the use or enjoyment of this video, the current release of Komplete Start doesn't seem to include the Wurley, unless I'm missing it.
Awesome, I've just bought die PSS-A50 used, but as good as new, and start learning to play some little melodies and songs. I'm using the DAW Reason 10 lite. I hope, this will work as well as your setup. Depending on the progress I hopefully will continue learning to play the keyboard and then consider to buy the PSR-E373 maybe next year when the price starts to drop. In germany the keyboard is currently listet by retailers at 239 Euro = 283 USD. Thanks for the video and inspiration.
Great information - unfortunately for me the only thing under edit is downlaod, no preferences or anything else listed. I am able to access sounds already in cakewalk with my keyboard as I change them from the list already in Cakewalk but not working the way you presented it here. Any suggestions? Thanks for a great tutorial.
Awesome Jeremy. You've nailed it yet again!!. I have a PSS A50 ( I reckon there's only about 6 of them in Australia ha ha), so I'm going to give this a go. I run Presonus Studio One Artist (I bought an audio interface from them so the software was bundled). Should be fun. Keep safe buddy.

what a great keyboard - IF it had sustain pedal input, midi out, pitch and mod wheel. purposely broken by Yamaha as usual for the price. really too bad, but nice video!
Hi Jeremy. I just found out that the latest build of the PSS A50 includes the facility to load it with 4 X "AA" batteries. Looks like Yamaha have taken note of comments from users (not that I had a prob with usb to a phone bank). Cheers Buddy.
Very interesting. Just awesome you get this for free. But why A50? Looks like you can use any keyboard or piano that has USB. Many keyboards have that larger USB-B plug (like a printer), so you need a different cable. The only thing specific to the A50 is the way you turn local playback off. But if you don't know how to do that on your keyboard, you can just set the volume on the keyboard to 0.
Tutorial is Good but that beach video in between is irritating and totally out of place please avoid such kind of videos in between your quality tutorials
Hello i like very much your videos. Now i have a problem and I need your help : no connection with Cakewalk midi although digital keyboard in and out checked with my PSS A50. I'm surprised because midi works well with Ableton lite. Thanks a lot for your help.🥸

How do we add instrument plug-ins to Cakewalk? I have downloaded Kotakt but none of the plus-in instruments appear in Cakewalk!
Now I can use this technology to play music on my computer!
Most useful ! Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Whenever I play it with the Cakewalk sounds, It has a slight Delay...
I reduced the delay time to minimum too, but didn't work...
