    It's s 2 in 1 game because with the word cards, pens and boards you can also play Just One too.

    Thank you for the review - we got it over the holidays and it's our favorite party game now. Anyone who doesn't like the stress of writing clues can just help guess, and since you are guessing as a group, no one needs to feel singled out there. It's been easy to remember the card layout because you had to think a lot about what clue to give, and no one feels bad if people have trouble guessing at their clues because everyone knows how tough it can be to link two words together. And you all feel clever when you guess all 4 cards correctly.

    A party game that you are willing to play back to back while time flies and nobody even cares about points is always a winner. Party games that sparks discussions (like Dixit for example) are my favorites. At 7:30 I exactly can feel why you are smiling, board games are just wonderful

    We treat Telestrations as an activity because it's hilarious. Especially with the 12 player version. I think the most we've had is 7 and it's always a blast! The more the merrier!

    This looks like fun, and I love the quirky yet functional clover boards.

    The fact that everyone is writing together is a good way to prevent the game from bogging down. It’s a cool idea....and Just One is pretty much perfect, so I’ll have to check it out! The only problem I see is that if people just look at the more obvious words they might be able to match it pretty easily.

    • @benjaminspears8488
      @benjaminspears8488 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We picked it up and have been playing quite a bit. It’s got quite a bit of challenge to it. Even a word that might seem obvious to one person might not be to another. Great fun!

    Activity vs. game is how we treat Man Bites Dog. We never keep score, just pull it out when we have 10 minutes to kill.

    I thought this was a pretty cool game though I have to say a couple of the groups I played with found it to be way too difficult. Has anyone else had this issue?

    • @Skasski
      @Skasski 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can make the game easier by not adding a 5th random card before guessing. Similarly if it's too easy you could even add a 6th card. Keep in mind that you don't always have to get all four cards right in the first or second guess. There's a little bit of "luck" involved with the card pairs, depending on your creativity some words are easier to give clues for, some are harder. That's part of the challenge and keeps the game fresh and interesting.

      We’ve been playing it quite a bit and because you think so carefully about what words you write, it’s pretty easy to remember how you originally had it. Even with kids, we haven’t had an issue.

  • @Orochi_001

    What the stink does “a word in the same family” mean? Is a noun a type of word family? Is the word “dog” in the same family as the word “cat?” I don’t need win conditions in a party activity game, but a comprehensible rulebook would be nice.

  • @nshaw1299
    @nshaw1299 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I don't understand how you remember exactly what was on each board originally... Even a single board by the person who wrote the clues - I know many people who won't remember the exact configuration... pen & paper on top of the components?

    • @12345678abracadabra
      @12345678abracadabra 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I can't imagine that's the case. The clue give spends time looking and writing, you'd have to get an idea, even if you forget, just by looking and process and elimination you'd remember. Unless you were really slow then uh bad luck

      I imagine it's a non issue for the most part, but still, distractions occur, and also, in any game I don't like 'winning because someone says I won'. It's an opening for clunkiness. That's why in any guessing game there's always a written copy of the correct answer.

    • @BrandonGraham
      @BrandonGraham 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I thought the same thing. 100% chance I'll forget at some point. And the chances of other people doing it will increase dramatically with each alcoholic beverage.

  • @aaesuzuki
    @aaesuzuki ปีที่แล้ว +2

    isn't this game broken? like if you are stuck, you only need to have one obvious clue each side that matches one word closely and loosely, or not at all, for the other. For example, for the 'chess' and 'cereal' just write BISHOP. it doesn't match the 'cereal', but then pick an obvious clue for the other side of the card which was 'evening', like NIGHT.

    • @thomascocks9136
      @thomascocks9136 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If another card works well with both of the words then people will pick that instead. The fact you draw an extra card also means you can never know for sure what the set of words are. You can't rely on just a single match or you'll probably get the cards mismatched.

  • @GlennDeBlock
    @GlennDeBlock 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    So you have to remember exactly what the 8 words were? Quite easy to forget how/where one of the cards was placed, no?

    • @GlennDeBlock
      @GlennDeBlock 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also really dont like the fact that there's a possibility one can say: "yes, you're answer/configuration makes 100% sense but its still wrong. because thats's not how the cards were before..."

    • @thedicetower
      @thedicetower  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      First of all, it's not hard to remember where the cards go. Secondly, you aren't allow to say anything.

    • @GlennDeBlock
      @GlennDeBlock 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thedicetower I mean, if everything makes 100% sense. The configuration makes sense. The fifth random card fits in perfectly... But you're still forced to deny them the points. This feels unnatural to me. It's a bit like: you say when we get points, but there's no actual CORRECT answer.

    • @GlennDeBlock
      @GlennDeBlock 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can see moments happening where there'll be like: "yes. i think that's how the cards were. i think..."
      or the guessers being like: "but this makes 100% sense! how can we NOT get points."
      "Well, sorry but even though everything makes sense and seems correct. it just happens so that the cards were placed differently before..."

    • @thedicetower
      @thedicetower  3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@GlennDeBlock If the fifth card fits in perfectly (it likely won't) then everyone has a good laugh. The game is fun, I think you might be taking it a bit too seriously?
