Sylosis have changed their sound throughout the years, so I really recommend you to listen to all of their albums. They started off as metalcore/melodeath then turned into a progressive thrash beast with still some melodeath passages. I highly urge you to listen to Edge of the Earth if you like their depressing yet meaningful sound , and Conclusion of an Age/Monolith if you wanna go nuts with the riffing. Trust me, it’s worth it. Josh Middleton has been/is one of the most talented metal musicians out there.
They've always been thrash though, they went from a modern bay area type of thrash in conclusion to a darker sounding type of thrash and death type of metal IMO as every album went by. Love it though

They've ALWAYS been based on the ground of thrash metal, they weren't ever just straight melodeath/metalcore.
