While most people hate serrations they do have a useful purpose. Serrations are intended to improve the ability of a knife edge to catch or ‘bite’ into certain materials (eg. synthetic ropes where a plain blade tends to slide over the surface rather than cut). They also work well on substances that are soft, flexible or can be crushed easily with downward cutting (eg. bread & some vegetables). As a result of their design, serrations create a more aggressive cut. Some serrated blades can even perform like a small hand saw. The Swick 6 isn't a tactical knife - it's a self defence knife. The difference is important when it comes to serrations. As a general comment, from tactical perspective, serrations are often more of a hinderance than a help as they tend to tear rather than cut and can get caught up in some materials making their use frustrating. However, from a self defence perspective serrations can offer a benefit because of their aggressive cutting power. In situations where neatness doesn't count serrations can often cut through materials such as clothing more easily and can cause more aggressive wounds. If you are at risk of losing your life and you decide to use potentially lethal force to defend it, then you're going to want something that has the best chance of stopping the threat - neatness doesn't count. Hope this helps. (Please check local laws regarding the use of knives for self defence!)
Don't know why I keep watching these TH-cam channels, I mean, I like David and Thomas, enjoy their banter, but I get furious when I hear the prices of some of these knives especially when subpar materials are involved. 🤨

Can you speak about the relationship between Dogwood Custom Knives and Ethan Becker? He was an author of The Joy of Cooking. One of my favorite cookbooks. 200 dollars for a kitchen knife is sky high for me. But it must be a real nice one. I like to buy boring commercial kitchen knives and give them a 2 hour final finish. Makes for a fancy kitchen knife on a budget.
Gerber LMF is about $100…and good/bad/indifferent is a military knife…and is also 420. And is a bit of a stretch. $800 is definitely in the realm of someone just making you a knife. Unless this knife comes with scuba lessons I don’t know who would buy it. Particularly as a Legacy knife it looks nothing like the original.
The Caledonian Edge doesn’t even look or feel like a cold steel knife. I don’t like it at all, under new management they’re trying to be like Benchmade with Benchmade prices. They’re going to fail miserably if they continue to ignore the reasons people buy CS in the first place.
I'm with you. Cold Steel use to be one of my go-to brands. Not any more. Lower quality materials and higher prices - great way to turn customers away. Lynn Thompson created Cold Steel because he loved (I mean really loved) knives and wanted everyone to share in his passion. GSM bought Cold Steel to make money.

News flash for Buck - 420HC was an entry level stainless steel in the 1980's and in 2024 it's still an entry level stainless steel. Yes the BOS heat treat lifts its performance, but it's not alchemy - it doesn't magically transform it into some sort of modern super steel. 420HC is VERY cheap to buy and work with. I feel sorry for those knife consumers who do not know any better and purchase this blade only to realise that it's the same steel as Grandpa's old 110. Sharp blades all.

@@realbroggoThanks! I'm totally clueless about tactical/self defense stuff!
Buck Narrows is what they should call it
No, the narrows while a rip off is still a good knife.
Cramp-rambit!!! YES!!!! 2XL hands here -- happens way too often for me -- thanks for focusing on handle size!! 😆
That BUCK PRICE IS INSANE .
The design is even more insane lol... they must have had inspiration from a sand anchor lol.
Don't know why I keep watching these TH-cam channels, I mean, I like David and Thomas, enjoy their banter, but I get furious when I hear the prices of some of these knives especially when subpar materials are involved. 🤨
Let's face it... It's just like looking at the knife catalogue and it's talking to us. We are lazy man
It’s nice to see Reiff thriving where Survive! couldn’t deliver knives.
I am a flipper or thumbstud guy as well! 🤠🇨🇱
That buck makes benchmades prices seem cheap haha
You said what about LC200N's edge retention? 🤨
If that Chris Reeve knife was a Benchmade, there would be so much hate in the comments. $500!! Nope
Are You really comparing CR knives to Benchmade? That's a different lv of knife making. What's wrong with You man?
@@iamgroot4080 cope
I like the Boker knife but I really dislike D2. Give me 1095 or 14c28n every day over D2.
Especially the Chinese kind
D2 has better edge retention than 14c28n
Hey DCA, another great video. I just received my Pro-Tech PDW Invictus Auto which as usual arrived quickly and nicely packaged. I may have missed it, but have shown any ots autos recently?
Can you speak about the relationship between Dogwood Custom Knives and Ethan Becker? He was an author of The Joy of Cooking. One of my favorite cookbooks. 200 dollars for a kitchen knife is sky high for me. But it must be a real nice one. I like to buy boring commercial kitchen knives and give them a 2 hour final finish. Makes for a fancy kitchen knife on a budget.
They should have called it "the BATmaster". Because it looks like a Bat tool(Batman). LOLOLOL
And it's beautiful in the darkness of the night
Great selection
Cold steel should bring back the hatamoto. My one regret not getting it.
Need. More. Purple.

Reiff F6L
Vosteed B.
I think there was a mistake in the Marketing from Bucks side sure they didn't mean 80$?
How about "Toffee" as a colour name for the Spider Monkey micarta scales?
Sorry to correct your mispronounciation, but it's skEE-an doo. In fact there's tecnically a soft V sound from the bh at the end, but don't worry about that haha.
We are capable of using the search features on the website, not a fan of this format. Still an awesome channel.
31:50 👍👍👍
Buckmaster got the BUDK vibes with a Chris Reeves price tag.
Rorschach micarta on Bellamy
Buckmaster ia an expensive Anchor 800.00 😂
I love David but you should def hire me as I can actually flick the damn knives every which way possible and even front flip knives that aren't front flippers... 😆😊
New knives time *YES*
Does anyone else think, like me, that buck knifes, cold steel and every other knife company are completely insulting our intelligence ? It’s as thou they aren’t competing to see who makes a better knife but competing to see who sells their knife for the most money. What a joke 🤡
Nailed it. Completely agree
Two things here...
One... I definitely feel that somebody is trying to get to my butt.
Second... The weird thing is that there is a guy out there, maybe even normal looking, he may have a family, good job, never been arrested, he is a good guy, helped an old lady with crossing the street, gave some money to charity, never smoked in his life, he had one or two beers and never liquor... And he will buy it in the moment of weakness
800$ is almost 1000$ 😱
I love these vids but all of the knives being featured appear to have really jumped in price compared to just a few months ago.
That Mnandi? A small framelock knife that's not an easy one handed open. Nicely made I'm sure. But $500? Do they sell any? At all?
Yes. In fact they will probably sell out quickly.
Buck... you broke my heart. No one wanted the buckmaster to be rebranded as a dive knife. I would buy a worthwhile reworking of the old design, but this thing sucks almost as much as the price!
It was a dive knife when the original was released in 1985
Cowabunga.!
Benchmade: crazy unpopular pricing. Cold Steel *ahem GSM* Hold My Beer! Really sad to see. Was it at least DLC and just not mentioned? Still wouldn’t bring it close. They need to up the refinement by a large margin for a tactical folding liner lock that’s not made by Reate for $500 🙃 Reminds me of that you were supposed fight them. Not become them meme. Sheesh!
Why would you want to use your knife as an anchor?
That Ankylo tho
Man I used to want a Mnandi so bad, but the inlays on the Gen 3 models so far have been very uninspiring to me compared to the richer, more exotic wood choices of the past.
Hi David.

Does the Buckmaster knife come in a gold plated sheath for $800 ? I feel sorry for anyone that thinks they need that thing.
Don’t feel bad, I couldn’t have done that with a hot dog either.
Another tactile I can’t use because they obviously don’t have any left handed staff… 👀 great knives otherwise.
Did he say the Buckmaster comes in at only around $800 ?!? 😂
Mini Psyops should have been a top liner lock
$800 for a knife that's obviously much cheaper to manufacture than the original
And people complain when Benchmade charges $350 for a blade in M4. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The first two knives the cold steel and the buck 2.0 ..My question would be is Cold steel and buck out of their mind?, $500 for the cold steel and 800 for the 2.0 ... For that kind of money there's a ton of great knives out there I can get for that kind of cash !, I'm a fan of both brands but some of these knife companies are asking ridiculous prices these days !! 🤷
Yeah because, all that disposable income that our boys in uniform have to throw around, right?! Thanks for being so thoughtful, BUCK!
Hey DC, FYI, boker traditional 2.0 knives are made in china😢
According to their site they are made in Germany.
What is a US-made knife? - its a 50 dollar knife with a added zero.
You have my pity on the front flip;=-)
Cold steel doesn't seem to be very cold steel anymore
"Slightly larger than average error" lol
I can't afford any of these knives.
I don’t know man, it just seems like the prices are high for what you’re getting. These are all $80 knives. What’s new and different to justify these high prices? Everything is basically the same as the drawer full of knives I have already.
