I don't know anything about it or the internet aside from using it to look up things, ... so I am trying to learn how it works with the goal of building my own website, however there isn't much information on where to start when it comes to the apache. I know i need to learn it to be able to transmit request and responses to the client side/ front end.

Commands like these are very basic to an average linux user, you should be familiar with linux prior to getting into linux based servers

Nice tutorial but my ubuntu distro doesn't even have an httpd folder. Only an apache2 folder. Is this how it's supposed to be on ubuntu?
You might have to install apache sudo apt install apache2

I am on Centos, it might be apache2 instead of httpd in ubuntu !

You can as long as you have a public IP on the server or put forwarding to reach the server if on private ip
