Neons got me a couple of ladies numbers back when I owned my honda! For anyone who wants to try to be funny it's true on god! it surprised the hell out of me myself. I remember pulling up to the light and these two Asian Chic's were blaring music pulled up next to me turned down the music and were like we love your lights! I was like thanks then the hotter of the two was like I know I don't know you but can I get your number? I was like for sure so we pulled into McDonald's parking lot and exchanged info!

This list is terrible. The worst things you can do for your car make your car worse, rather than just being things some other guy doesn't find aesthetically pleasing.
How do you leave out people chopping springs to lower their car? That shit is everywhere. Who considers tape an upgrade? Is faux carbon fiber tape worse than faux carbon fiber interior plastic pieces? No, not really. Why only include tape? What about painting hoods or roofs black to look like carbon fiber from a distance ... kinda the same thing, right? Some people will ruin their car's suspension to make it look lower, and that's a way worse "upgrade for your car."
How do you leave out the fad of negative camber even on cars that aren't drifted? But you leave neon lights in? No one thinks neon lights help the car do anything, some people actually think ruining their tires helps the car turn better.
You include a turbo exhaust tip that does nothing for/against the car, but you don't include heavy bodywork that as often as not (with the cheap body work market) destroys the aerodynamics of the car and add weight? You can include just for show spoilers in that or separate them.
There's more ... there's a lot more. It's like you just wanted to complain about kids who are excited about personalizing their first car. That's fine, man, do that. But, these aren't the worst things they can do. And as far as affronts to car culture, how about including fake car badges, and not even just fake ones, combinations that never existed, like the world famous M designed Hondas, the Type R Toyotas, and the STi Fords....
Personally, I'd rather see people talking about kid's buying a car that already performs well stock (like old school Type Rs, or more modern Evos, STi's or M series) and getting after market parts that reduce performance.

Diablo Vanheule Dunno where you are in the world, or about the laws there. But I know that in the UK there is no law against having under-car lights.
I was looking into getting some and got to reading the traffic laws and talking to the local police officers...
Anyways, I believe that the only laws that affect under-car lighting is the stuff about it not dazzling other drivers around you and colour designations must be: White at the Front, Orange at the Sides/Middle, Red at the Back.
Regardless of location its worth having a talk with local police, and a look through the local laws for little loop holes, etc...
P.s. Might get pulled to explain that to the really pedantic cops,they may try to get you for something else... but they can't really do much if there is no specific law. And after a while the local cops will get used to seeing you about.

I like tastefully-done hood scoops, even if they are non-functional. Most factory hood scoops are fine, like the one on your old GT. Most aftermarket scoops end up looking like fuck, though, so I guess that does make it a shitty "upgrade". But there are definitely worse mods than these, as none of these actually make the car any less functional or safe. Tire Stretching, extreme camber, cutting stock springs, HIDs in standard housings, plastic caliper covers, and my personal favorite: blacked-out brake lights.

Great video, but just to let you know. The 03-04 Mach 1's hood scoop wasn't for cooling. It's called a shaker scoop, and it is an air intake for the engine. It was completely functional.

Texarmageddon True, the 2v mustang suffered from a lack of breathing deep, but the problem is not at the intake. The issue is at the cylinder heads. No matter how much air you're able to take in at the intake, it will always be restricted at the heads. FI does do quite well on those engines though ;-)

it's not a super car like a Venom GT or a Ford GT40. The fastest ones they ever made off the shelf, the one everyone has boners for and won't shut up about were the 2JZ Inline 6 twin turbo pushing 276 hp and 370-ish tq. Rare and hard to find, yes, but they're middle class because it's possible to MAKE them really fast. All it really takes is volumetric efficiency and proper timing.

Spoilers work by "spoiling" unfavorable wind movement and reducing drag, while wings (like on the Viper ACR) increase drag and produce downforce. I think spoilers can work on most cars, whereas a Wing will (like you said) mostly be effective at really high speeds.

I rather do tape than the stupid soft touch overlay most OEM cars come with from factory. its like a stupid plastic dip that get scratched with your nails in a minute you get your car of the lot. i personally love the carbon fiber look. to this admiration, i intend to learn how to work with it. make molds of my interior in sections and then do a proper carbon job. i love the custom look, but half of the pleasure is in doing it yourself. and although complicated and lengthy, making your own carbon fiber parts isnt too physically difficult.

The back ends of FWD cars are like apples to a watermelon. The weight difference can be fairly noticeable. Angle a spoiler the right way and the chances of lift-off oversteer might just be a bit less.

Some cars, those hood scoops can actually be made to work instead of being for show. Get a some short angled plumbing, an air filter that pops up where it should, and pop out the plastic plate in the hood. Easy to do on Mustangs, you basically just need a u-shaped pipe coming off the throttle body

On some cars they do, but those cars are very rare. Stock STi wings for example add decent high speed stability, as seen by all the videos of STi's crashing after they take their wings off hahahaha....

There are many people who have built Honda's for the track and use professional, name brand spoilers for them because many of the cars run around 300hp just from all motor. I'm sure they need weight for those light, little cars whipping around the track. all wings do something. whether it be just drag or actual down force. those ebay spoilers that look terrible are angle like actual racing ones so therefor, they do make down force. might not withstand high speed great but you get the point. the problem is if the car NEEDS it or not. if you have a car that you only drive around town and don't track it, you don't need. more respect to a civic with a wing around a track(not getting in the fwd wing debate though) than a fancy slammed s2000 with a vortex wing like I have seen numerous times. do what you want but a wing will have down force and look at it more like does this vehicle need a big wing. like people have already said, let them do what they want until safety becomes a concern

big wings and fart cans are terrible on Hondas....things got even worse when you saw them showing up on Saturns, Chevy cavalier, dodge neons and other cars in that group (ie, cars in the same group as a civic, but which suck in nearly every way) I am shamed tho....I have carbon fiber vinyl "eye lids" on my 2006 scion xb. But this is partly because I kept getting headlights flashed at my by oncoming cars because they thought I had my high beams on....it is just that the XB's head lights are higher than most!

To me, there are 2 types of cars. Type #1 is a car that is a tool...a mode of transportation. It will get you from A to B. Type #2 is a car that gets from A to B and is fun to do so in. Type #2 begs to be driven harder. It gives you feedback from the road, its motor sings with pleasure the harder you rev it. Even cars with 100hp can be in Type #2. The difference is engineering....was the car meant to do a simple job, or was is meant to do that job while given the driver a sense that he was not working? Some cars have lots of feedback, threw the wheel, the pedals, the engine sound. Other cars just put around. Their engines don't like to sing. Their chassis may be comfy, but it doesn't tell you the road condition. It doesn't like to be thrown hard into a corner. More and more cars today are falling into group #1. Electric steering systems, throttle by wire, SCS, AYC and fancy automatic transmissions are taking more of the control away from the driver and giving it to a computer.

RCPro Driver throttle by wire isnt a bad thing, in fact many type 2 cars have drive by wire(thats what its called btw) and are still fun to drive, plus with drive by wire, you dont have to have extra modules to have luxuries like cruise control so it helps bring costs down as opposed to an older style vacuum controlled cruise control module

It isn't that TBW is a "bad" thing, I just don't like the feel. I prefer having a physical connection to the engine. Many modern systems are disconnecting the driver from the car. I know that some of the electric steering systems provide some pretty decent feedback....but if I wanted to drive a Logitec Force Feedback steering wheel I would hop onto my playstation. It may be a lighter system and may also be less expensive to make, but older civics, nissans, Toyotas used throttle cables and power steering pumps and they were not expensive cars.

American cars had scoops on the hood to draw cold air into the intake manifold. On a V8 every ten degrees of heat in the intake costs you 5 hp. Foreign cars used hood scoops to draw air in over their intercoolers.

Dodge Challenger SRT8 hoodscoops are functional. And since the hoods are the same with all the trim levels, it's cheap and easy to swap out the scoop inserts on the SXT and the R/T to make them functional too.

The actual truth is this: People who believes that Spoilers are not a functioning part on a FWD car is probably too ignorant for what the real actual fact is.
No matter what kind of car you drive, no matter what kind of drivetrain is has, once the car reaches a certain high amount of speed(Usually more than 100 KM/H...about 60 MPH is America term?), those Spoilers can actually become a functioning part even on FWD vehicles. You won't really feel that much of a function if you are a Drag Racer because it's on the Circuit Tracks where you'll really understand the use of a Spoiler.
Of course though, then again, incredibly huge and non-standard Spoilers are also no good or ANY cars in fact.

Zac Roberts well, no, because, especially when cornering, a car still could use traction on the rear wheels even if it is FWD. without enough traction on the rear tires in, say, mid-corner, the car will just slip out of place and end up backwards. that being said, a fwd car will probably do fine without a huge spoiler on it because it's not going to be driving at supercar speed and like a lot of the cars on the road it won't even be racing.

The whole concept of putting chrome on your car depends on the car. some cars such as Lincoln town Cars or Cadillac Devilles look good with chrome wheel well mouldings. But to put chrome on a sporty car or a compact car or a minivan is a no no. But whats worse is buying that nasty cheap looking chrome tape and putting it on your car, yeah it sucks.

Yes the Flowtie makes a difference, it increases airflow to the engine at 3 additional cubic meters per minute, which lowers the engine and oil temperature. After all, for your information the Camaro Z28 was designed and build as a track car with a lot of features/building designs for it to perform it's best on the track. So yeah it makes a difference whether it's small in your opinion or not ... just stating the facts for ya and don't even get me started on all the other features it has.

I have an 06 monte carlo that gets high intake temps. Even running a tube from below the bumper helps but the temps still get hot. So I did buy dual function louvers. They do stick on for the 1st function but the 2nd function is to use them as functional louvers by cutting the shape out of your hood. The 3m tape is separate so you can put it on either side of the pieces. So when it gets warmer, guess who is cutting holes in his hood..lol. it is my summer daily and the hood already has a little hail damage anyways. Plus those intake temps gotta come down. I'm talking about pulling in 120 degree air on a 60 degree day and never even dropping below 23 degrees above ambient after 10 minutes. My added tube drops it to 8 above after about 5-7 minutes. But the quicker I can get that hot air under the hood out, the better. And yes, it has the factory air box and intake.

+GodXela - The Mayor of Columbus, Ohio Ford has been putting them on their cars for a while now, too. My dad's Lincoln has them, and they're actually kinda nice. You can have a nice ambient glow in the car that isn't overly bright. I also like messing with him by changing it from blue to purple when I borrow the car, since he's a big KU fan and our rival school's colors include purple.

I wrap my bumper in carbon fiber to protect the fiberglass and from cracking in the sun over the years. Cheaper then a paint job and still work like a charm.

4) Nah, solid gray duct tape on everything. Duct tape looks rad. Also, Mythbusters said it's good for everything, so I'll make a hood and custom bumpers out of duct tape.
5) Turbos are for gaylords, better put a VTEC sticker on my car and paint it red. (also, see 1). Also, an interesting trivia, BMW and, AFAIK, Volvo are working on real electric superchargers (like, those that actually work). Maybe not so dumb afterall.

I have a 98 Subaru Outback sport. Single best performance upgrade was when the nonfunctional hood scoop flew off my hood and I removed the plate that prevented air from even touching the engine.

Just so you know........The scoop on the Subaru WRX STi is not an induction scoop for the intake. It is there to get cool air to the intercooler which makes the air charge denser thus packing more air into the cylinders. So it's there for a reason..... hence, FUNCTIONAL

fake carbon fiber can look really nice on some cars and instead of paying a huge amount of money for a carbon package in a supercar i would just go with the standard option and wrap the parts. People get the carbon fiber packages in their supercars for looks only anyways.

I put carbon fibre vinyl on the rear wing of my race car to protect the clear coat surface from track debris. The funny part is that under the fake tape was a real carbon fibre wing. I just didn't want it all chipped up or the sun to bake it.
