- In this video, I have explained the modes of fragmentation of aliphatic and aromatic carboxylic acids. Discussion which I made in this video is available in spectroscopy by Pavia Lampman and also in the organic spectroscopy by Jagmohan. The molecular ion of straight chain carboxylic acids is weak but usually present. The McLafferty rearrangement results in a prominent peak and often accounts for the base peak. Short chain carboxylic acids give prevalent peaks at [M - OH] and [M - CO2H]. In larger carboxylic acids these peaks are less prevalent. Aromatic acids have a more prominent molecular ion peak but undergo similar fractionation to short chain hydrocarbons. They produce large peaks at [M - OH] and [M - CO2H]. Aromatic acids can also lose water if an ortho group contains an abstractable hydrogen atom.

Thanku so much sir.... U clear all my concepts of mass spectrometry...
sir apny alpha cleavge kasy kri wo toh alpha aur beta k drmyan jo bond hota hy wo break hota hy na 07:00 ?
Sir four membered ring to bht unstable hoti h Kia yeah detect ho gi
Sir your explanation is very good 😊
It was so easy to understand these concepts through Ur videos. Thanks a lot sir! And I request u to explain fragmentation pattern of remaining imp functional groups also
Plz search mass spectrometry by TETRAHEDRON CHEMISTRY CLASSES in TH-cam, majority of fragmentation pattern are already their.
highly appreciated
77-51 = 26
and the mass of ethene is 28.
that means we are not losing a neutral ethene molecule at the 51 peak. can you explain that sir ?
Plz m mention time.
nice explanation
Wow great explanation ,very useful for my m.sc study during this covid period thank you so much ,please make videos on carbon 13 NMR spectroscopy
Sure
Dear I have a problem in recognising mclarfferty peak can u help me?
Plz go through the video of the following link where I have explained Mclafferty rearrangement in detail
th-cam.com/video/5d06p7rdXHU/w-d-xo.html
@@deevandiloo9864 it is explained in part 6 of this video in fragmentation of alkene
77-28 is not 51. You made a mistake sir. It might be acytelene not ethene.
Plz mention time.
Thank you but can you do auto translate to another people to understand?
Which language?
@@TETRAHEDRONCHEMISTRYCLASSES English maybe or if you do automatically translate that will help many people in many language and thank you very much
Ok, will continue in english.
Plz explain in english
Ok will do some more problems in english language.
Noo speak in english please
Sure will try to explain in both languages
