The neighbors essentially won, while OP just sat there and waited for 8 months of vandalism before getting a camera, then essentially settled for "I'm sorry" on a post it note, and got steamrolled in the very end. Very unsatisfying ending. Multiple times throughout the post, OP mentioned things like "they put down the border markers, remember this for later, it's important!" What was the point of all those foreshadowing statements if the result was the neighbors building a crappy fence and OP laying down and taking it when he had a legally binding contract on his side.
