Excellent program! Both Vikramjit & Kunal have done a great job! Tribute to our brave jawans & tremendous sorrow for their suffering. As usual - like 1962, some of the senior Army Commanders, one of which was Kishan Pal, were incompetent & threw away our soldiers' lives. Two instances of VIKAS role in Kargil War: (i) Acting upon orders issued by HQs 102 Inf Bde (Siachen), 11 Rajputana Rifles was inducted swiftly through the Turtuk Lungpa to occupy defences on the LOC at Pt 5500 and its vicinity. The 11 Raj Rif was assisted in its task by operatives from the 5 VIKAS. (ii) The first assault on the critical Khalubar ridge in Batalik was initiated on June 30, 1999, by the 22 Grenadiers. Three mountaineers from a VIKAS btn assisted the 22 GREN’s climb up the treacherous slopes of Khalubar. They were able to secure lodgements on Khalubar and paved the way for the subsequent success of 1 / 11 GR on Khalubar.
@ngawangsinghe2707 Another role of VIKAS during Kargil War: (I) One JCO & five OR of 6 Vikas were deployed to fix ropes from the west to enable the assault team of 14 JAK RIF to evict the enemy from Point 5400, Kaksar LOC, during night of July 7-8, 1999. However, due to terrain difficulty, the expert mountaineers of 6 VIKAS could manage to fix only one rope by 3.30 am on July 8, 1999. The assault team of 14 JAK RIF could thus not go ahead with planned assault of Point 5400. (ii) 6 VIKAS was able fix ropes successfully for the assault of Point 5000, Kaksar LOC, on July 15, 1999. The ropes fixed by 6 VIKAS enabled the assault team of 14 JAK RIF to summit Point 5000.
Verma Saab Mr. Singh was just getting started on the very interesting fact of 2020 Chinese push having its roots in Doklam...also Hon Minister breathing fire and brimstone about regaining Aksai Chin....jaan de dege..kya samajh rahe ho... But truth most inconvenient.... Building infra without troops in holding positions
Kudos to vikramjit sir for such detailed analysis but to vikramjit sir i have a question if we had'nt indulged in operation in kargil at that time and all the stocking of army would have done from manali leh highway instead of sringar leh highway which was under attack and winters were just 3-4 months and pakistanis would have not survived the winter would the result have been something else or the situation would have worsened or it would have been done but not on the cost of 529 brave lives.
@abhinavthakur7540 The Pakistan Army had the capabilities to survive deep winter. The Kargil invasion of 1998-‘99 was operationalised over the deep winter months by NLI troops who faced avalanches, blizzards etc but yet built posts across LOC. Military history tells us that Pakistan Army has been active in winter since 1947-‘48 when it had laid siege to Zojila and Leh. So, if we had left it to winter to defeat the enemy, we would have seen them actually consolidating the altered LOC.
But we were made to believe that we suffered only few casualties, oh, so sad, so Kargil War was all coverup, so sad, thank you Sir for telling the truth, let there be an inquiry
19:57 Lt. Gen. Kishan pal ko sack karna chahiye tha……usko sack nahi kiya instead UYSM de diya gaya… On the other hand Brig. Devinder singh ji was not even promoted who actually fought very bravely and they haven’t gave him a medal…
Brig. Devinder rightly predicted possibility of kargil war during war game, & later intelligently avoided extra & premature casualties as compared to rest of the war theatre.
After watching this discussion, it looks like some top Indian Army leadership has same probelm which Nehru had believing Hindi Chini Bhai bhai. After first encounter it should have been clear that only army got such training and has capacity to supply at such height so Pakistan has definetly sent their army unit. I remember the news of that time, I was in school. Even the Indian news media was saying that pakistani terrorist has ocuppied height for almost half of the Kargil war and to be honest it was such embrassing to watch news how pakistani terrorist can compete with our Army. In the middle of Kargil war our desi media started saying it not terrorist but Pakistani army is fighting. Our Army fought well to recover the height but it was also our army leadership failure to not think what if pakistan army occupied vacant post. The more causlity was because of two reason 1. Army leadership believing for several weeks in begining there were terrorist, not pakistani army. 2 Political leadership not allowing to cross LOC and attack the occupied post due to which army has to attack from limited route.
Thanks for sharing sir.
