This whole video about simple and beautiful surroundings puts me in such a good mood. I forget all my real-life anxieties. It's magic. And Lee has so much enthusiasm, it rubs off on me.
I enjoy your videos and seeing how people in Japan live. I especially appreciate how you recognize the other workers that have had a part in renovations. That speaks very highly of you as a leader. Good job!
18:44 I would like to suggest that you don't hide the first aid kit behind the cushion seat. It should be visible, so in an emergency situation people who are unfamiliar with the house can find it more easily. Also, I think it is a good idea to stick a red cross symbol on the box, or paint one on it. Since the box is already red, just paint a white cross on it instead, like what you see with the army medic.
Congratulations Lee! What a transformation. I love all the shout-outs to friends and locals who lent a hand. So many wonderful touches! Lucky guests who get to stay there--hope we are among them (Wendy and Rodrigo).
You all did a beautiful job. It looks like a peaceful, tranquil place to visit. Be kind to the Phoenix, please. Hens don't like to be handled roughly, and if you stress her out by grabbing her like that, she will produce fewer eggs.
0:59 I think the light is VERY cool, but it should be mounted to the wall in a very accessible location so guests can find it easily. You need to get new rollers for the door. It's too noisy, I did it on one of my sliding doors (get nylon rollers) and it quieted them right down. I love how everything is so tidy, minimal and you've covered every base.
Hi, the exterior lights actually come on automatically just before sunset and off at sunrise so the switch to manually control them are hidden away just for me. The other switches are at very conspicuous locations.
I would love to visit your farmhouse! I love all the details and the consideration and hard work you and your team have put into the project. Welcome back!
That was not a little tour, that was a huge fabulous tour. It turned out so fantastic. I am so happy for you. I am sure your are exhausted but can't relax because you are the host. Your hard work really is beautiful. Congratulations...
Damn, I wish I had a house that has that lighting. Its so good and with the wood all around, its such a nice place with good vibes. You did a great job renovating everything. I subbed
Melts my heart. All the hard work and dedication has achieved an absolutely amazing result. Well done Lee and the Team. Do hope to stay many days and enjoy that corner too, reading books.
Your demeanor as a host is perfect and your effort has paid off on the guest house. I really hope to book a room with you soon while I look for my renovation project. Also the knowledge and explanation epic.
Ill surely visit yoir place when i go for a visit with my family! Truly appreciate your hard work and attention to details with every rennovation videos. Truly a labour of love!
Absolutely stunning. You and all your co workers and family have worked so hard and it has been worth the effort. I hope that one day I may be able to visit. Congratulations.
Have been interested ever since I started watching all of your videos. Renovations look a like a big success. If I ever get a chance, I think I would like to stay there and visit the area. -Stuck in the US.. ;) Nicely done. Looks like a very comfortable place to be.
Sorry I was busy managing the cafe, renovation, and rice planting all at the same time this year so there’s no footage of the renovations apart from what I’ve already included in this video.
It took 3 months of work from the carpenter, a day for the bathroom installers, and about 10 days from the electricians. Volunteers and everyone else have probably put in 200 hours so it’s a total of around 800-900 man hours.
28:00 I thought about sending you some Polish Vodka to stay beside the Gin, but it seems that one can't legally send any alcohol into Japan (or at least from Poland to Japan). ._.
Is it worth visiting the cafe? Now it's not 100% clear in the about section or on the website if there is a cafe. I'm in Wakayama from next week. Would take public transport. Thx, Bob
Hi Bob! The cafe is open only Saturdays and Sundays 11am-3pm. We serve omakase course lunch at ¥6,000 for a minimum of 4 persons, and bookings must be done at least 2 weeks ahead of time.
Oh. I thought would be a guesthouse with rooms for rent. Instead it's a big house for rent to families. Digital nomads would probably be more interested in 1 or 2 bed rooms and communal areas for working, reading or meal making. Looks good but cannot afford it as offered.
Hi, unfortunately the size of the house made it difficult to install multiple bathrooms and toilets or to separate the rooms so that everyone gets privacy. Legal requirements for fire safety made it difficult to make separate rooms too. It made sense financially to make this house a whole house rental and currently we’re booked full through autumn.

Just...wow. From part 1 to this... So amazing. The amount of hard work and community involved in the projects you guys do. Admirable and honorable. ☺
Glad you enjoyed it!
You’re not building a house, you’re building your heart. So beautiful.

See you in 2024!!
I love how it sprays down the sides before you use it. That makes it less likely for stuff to stick 💩
That’s awesome
This was so fun to watch! We can't wait to come stay. Only wish we had longer time to stay! I am so inspired by your journey and what you've created!
Thanks Zoe, see you soon!

Hi! Yes we are on Airbnb: airbnb.com/h/Ryunohara. We’d be glad to have you here on your honeymoon!
I would really love to do a stay for a week or two next year but its only 3 of us
Amazing work! What did it cost in materials to restore it ? How much working hours ?
It took 3 months of work from the carpenter, a day for the bathroom installers, and about 10 days from the electricians. Volunteers and everyone else have probably put in 200 hours so it’s a total of around 800-900 man hours.

Thank you for even considering sending vodka! I appreciate your thoughts!
Hi, is your place available 365 days a year or seasonal?
We’re open for bookings throughout the year. Here’s the booking link: airbnb.com/h/Ryunohara

oh you are from Singapore 😊
