I love that he has respect in is community despite his ravings. If someone walked about like that were I live they would probably torment the poor man. I just wish he could be cured from his pain and suffering. Loving his little bird friends though.
I love his story about the birds. I think the pigeons represent his desire to transcend to something elevated, to be free of the constraints of a narrow-minded and hurtful human society and the voices are the voices of those who want to keep people in line, in the world. I could be wrong. I can empathize with that. He's so far gone he's just about consumed by paranoid delusion.
That's because he is a sane person in a sick society... It also resonates with me. Someone with a great mind like his, is going to end in prison, a mental institute or socially marginalized. Most people are so blinded that they cannot see the full picture of what is really going on. If you born into a place filled with violence, lies and desperation, how can you NOT be paranoic??? the mind creates a new and beautiful reality in order to escape the insanity of this world.

@@MrRecklessryan Schizophrenia is a disease that typically begins in early adulthood; between the ages of 15 and 25. I grew up with a guy named Bryan who became one of my best friends. He was smart, even gifted . He could play several instruments , which took me years to learn to play well. He could pick up an instrument and figure it out in no time. Bryan was a track star and a great hitter in baseball. He joined the Air Force and rose in rank quickly. Then he started to send me letters that didn't make sense , saying he believed he was being targeted and singled out for all sorts of bizarre scenarios by different people . His brother and mom were getting letters from him that said the same type of thing. I didn't hear from him for a few months and one day he showed up at my apartment in Cincinnati looking like he hadn't had a haircut or a shave in months. He eventually told me he was AWOL and that he believed the government would execute him if he was found. He said he had information that was classified and that he needed to go to Turkey for some reason, because there were people there who could clear his name. It didn't take long for me to realize he was delusional but I didn't really understand schizophrenia at all so I didn't know what to do. I let him stay with me awhile, but finally told his brother that Bryan was in Cincinnati and they needed to get him and take him someplace where he could get help. His brother came and eventually convinced him that he needed to seek help, which he did. About a year later he wrote me a letter saying thanks for helping him out, but he was going to die, because he couldn't stop drinking and his meds were not safe to mix with alcohol. And that is exactly what happened. They found him dead in his room from a mixture of vodka and anti psychotic meds. Bryan was 25 years old when he died. I've since tried to learn more about schizophrenia. The way it destroyed my friend so completely and so quicky was shocking.
Nikola Tesla was friendly with pigeons too. Mr. Tesla was one of the most prolific inventors and a highly educated person. He was also very paranoid. Both stories bear a striking similarity to each other.
Schizophrenia is a living nightmare. These voices constantly tear the person down, tell them they are not worthy to live, that they are horrible. The voices are never good or nice. Imagine this running through your mind all of the time-ALL the time. It is one of the most difficult mental disorders to treat effectively. There are only so many meds, and for some, none of them work. It comes upon people generally in their late teens or twenties, just when they are supposed to be getting started as young adults. Mental illness doesn't just happen to one person, it happens to everyone who loves them. So, so sad.
That's often the case, but it's not always this horrendous debilitating illness, I've known people with quite amicable friendly voices who cause them no harm.
angela bluebird60 - Terrance McKenna talked about schizophrenia. It's not difficult to "heal." The problem is society does not want to bother with it. Society formerly based on USA eugenics programs wish to see these people put away to prevent them from further breeding.
if you treat it like a disease it will become a disease ....you say " It comes upon people generally in their late teens or twenties, just when they are supposed to be getting started as young adults. " that is the problem , people are expected to become addults , to loose their child-soul , to get a job , stop dreaming and become materialistic rational consumption slaves ... this is our western culture and society norms ...but what if someone is scared of becoming this kind of PRODUCT .... what if the soul starts being rebellious , and trying to escape this life-plan , that is just an attempt to put you in a shape - in a box ....schizophrenia is a gift , a open psychedelic mind ... but when you are not used to anything exept " normality " , then it might scare you ... when you start telling someone who is on a trip to mental revolution : " hey youre sick " .... what is that ?! actually people with this gift can read the thoughts of others , they are very spiritual , very sensitive , intuitive , creative , they have a different way of perceiving reality than others...more deep , non - materialstic and clearvoyant ...its not a disease , you have to decode the messages and talk to the voices cause they wanna tell you something but you dont listen , just eating pills , that doesnt make it better , become more spiritual , drop your rational mind that is violating you..dive into your spirit and LISTEN ...

I would vote for him for president over Trump and Hillary Clinton any day. I think he should definitely run for president. I also think it's totally unfair that schizophrenics don't get equal treatment. They appear to be very intelligent and insightful people.
The media in the UK vilify this so called illness to make people scared of those being labelled, which further isolates them. It's part a social control program called gangstalking. Check out cointel pro, mk ultra etc. All programs designed to mind control people. Remember, the CIA invented the term 'conspiracy theory', mmm now why would they do that? It's a form of mass gaslighting designed to make the target look mentally ill. WAKE UP!! YOUR GOVERNMENTS ARE SCREWING YOU OVER!!
I don't understand the attitudes of people in this, even the daughter. They don't seem to be talking about someone with a mental illness (not disease, as was said by someone interviewed) they talk like he just decided to do these crazy things on a whim. Talking about being "angry" that he missed them growing up, that he was "breaking up the family" - they all talk like it is his fault.
My son was our small town quarterback growing up and loved by so many. He was stricken with psychosis at age 17. Later diagnose with bipolar and psychosis and also schizophrenia. It was beyond words to describe. We lost him to “the voices” at age 20. It’s been 14 years and I still don’t understand this. 💔 ❤ It can be upsetting to hear people say suicide is selfish, that it’s a “permanent solution to a temporary problem”. He didn’t want to die, the suffering was just too much. As his mother, it hurts so much but to know that he was suffering even more is just heart wrenching. I can’t imagine what it’s like in their inner world but he was so beautiful and kind. He left behind notebooks filled with soul level poetry that has given me a glimpse inside his magnificent soul and I’m just blown away by the depth of it all. I miss him so much.
Exactly the same thing has happened to me in the last few months. Several psychotic episodes led me from being removed from the family home as I held mine hostage. I don't remember a lot of it. Now I'm living in a room all alone taking antipsychotic medication every day.

On Monday, Feb. 7, he died at 3:15 p.m. from sepsis and aspiration pneumonia at Sutter Health Alta Bates Medical Center. He was 81.

One minute in, and mind already blown.
wow, i started out feeling a little guilty that i found the things this guy was saying a little humorous but the smirk on my face was totally gone when all his friends and family were shown, it had never occured to me to even think of people sufffering like that as people who once where no different from the norm, thanks for opening my eyes.
If you born into a place filled with violence, lies and desperation, how can you NOT be paranoic??? the mind creates a new and beautiful reality in order to escape the insanity of this world.

youre over 30.. you're not going to develop schizophrenia
@@DavidPigbody Schizophrenia can hit you at any age.
@@MrRecklessryan Schizophrenia is a disease that typically begins in early adulthood; between the ages of 15 and 25. Men tend to get develop schizophrenia slightly earlier than women; whereas most males become ill between 16 and 25 years old. The average age of onset is 18 in men and 25 in women. Schizophrenia onset is extremely rare for people under 10 years of age, or over 30 years of age.

I’m sorry for your loss

Nikola Tesla was friendly with pigeons too.
Mr. Tesla was one of the most prolific inventors and a highly

Schizophrenia is a living nightmare. These voices constantly tear the person down, tell them they are not worthy to live,
that they are horrible.
Xanax helps very much...for me anyway. Voices and paranoia disappears
if you treat it like a disease it will become a disease ....you say " It comes upon people generally in their late teens or twenties, just when they are supposed to be getting started as young adults.

I think they were traumatised that’s why
man the music on the beginning is so sad poor old man. I know you are have a good heart.

What's the difference between schizophrenic delusions and religious beliefs? Or spiritual beliefs. I was listening to alan watts saying that we are all the same and that everyone is us etc and told my gp who said this belief is commonly held by schizophrenics. How do you know if a belief is delusional or not
Most of the classis delusions of schizofrenics are actually becoming reality.

My dad was schizophrenic/bi-polar. He was undiagnosed for many years and unfortunately it was after my parents divorced. I am happy I finally got to talk to him a few times before he died but I always wish it could have been more
After one of my more severe seizures, i hallucinated for about a week. Luckily, they were mild, and i only occasionally saw dark figures, and when i did a double take, they were gone. My brother is schizophrenic and 59 years old. He is in a half way house. This films shows the symptoms. 2M -3M Americans have schizophrenia. It fills more hospital beds than any other disease. Prevention is the best option. Learn how to prevent stress and increase social skills in young people to improve their chances of avoiding this dreadful disease. Most people who get it do not have relatives with it. God Bless You.
This incurable illness is not caused by stress and cannot be prevented by social skills ,the onset of an acute episode more than likely is caused by non compliance big taking medication prescribed to quiet the thoughts ,more men get this illness at the onset of maturity. This list soul has fallen through the cracks of being monitored+ housed sad situation when the hospitals for mentally ill shut their doors, few group homes only available to patients on meds. 40+ yrs of street people self medicating due to a mental health issue. That thing he said about the pigeon was funny and clever. After watching this video I can say I don't have schizophrenia but I do hear "hateful destructive" voices in my head at times but its my voice I'm hearing and its my way of dealing with the stress of every day life. I randomly get word sequences in my head ......like yesterday I kept saying to myself at work "progressively proper".......then again a boring repetitive job can make some nuts even nuttier.
Im struggling with schizophrenia too, it’s not at a stage as in the video but I just hate it no one sees me like just a person even if they don’t know what I’m facing

Have you ever had to live with someone like this? Especially in the '70s when it wasn't understood as well as it is now. Keep in mind, he has been diagnosed as schizophrenic, but up until then she probably had no idea what was wrong and all she could figure was that he was just an asshole. Even if she did know and understand, she had children and their safety and well-being to think about.
