Comparison- Rav Moon, Vast and Handpan D Celtic- Which do you like better?

  • Hello my Friends!
I wanted to answer a question that people have been asking, since the release of the Rav Moon.
"How does the Moon compare in volume, tone and timbre to the Vast and a Handpan?"
I can definitely say that this comparison surprised me.
Not only did the moon excel at volume, it has more in common timbre wise, with the Handpan than the Rav.
This appears to be a result of the new vibrational pattern.

    Thanks for the straight comparison!!
D key is the best for Moon model, but it is too high for Vast model. Vast is much deeper in lower keys.

Got my Moon D Celtic yesterday after buying two Vast the last weeks and I think I prefer the Moon, even that's not a final conclusion and still loving them all. I certainly prefer the much more compact size and that it's about half the weight. I also like that the Moon is lower in volume and like the name suggest, is more appropriate for playing during the night without disturbing neighbours. The powdercoated Vast G and A are definitely putting out more wall penetrating frequencies.
I didn't know that they send them from Siberia to Germany and was a bit nervous regarding the sanctions, but DHL Express managed to get it to the front of my doorstep within quite exactly 3 days. I wish DHL would be so fast within Germany😜. They charged a bit more than I was expecting (25% combined), but shipping was free and 813 € all combined is still okay.

@@ReWildYourSoul Definitely! I mean, it was clear they weren’t just a mini version of the full size Rav after listening to it for the first time. But your comparison definitely makes that all the more obvious. Really interesting what they did.

Thanks for this comparison as I'm getting ready to take my first venture in to a RAV. I'm currently watching as many of your uploads (as well as others) to get a sense of the instruments and what the players in the community are advising.
I would like to chime in on what you spoke about concerning sustain in the RAV Moon. As someone who plays Native American flute, each and every instrument is different and unique. I have various flutes and they want to be handled different. Some take a gentle breath while others sing with strong breaths. Adapting to the individual instrument is key.
I look forward to more of your comparison videos.

Wholeheartedly agree! I have about 7 years of material to check out on them, so do look at the playlists for a bit more a concise look. I have been working with rav as a Sponsored artist for about 5 years, so have had a chance to play every scale! Lots of reviews on Ravs page and mine to check out. Best of luck my friend!

@@ReWildYourSoul and don't get me wrong, the sustain is great. I can't help but think that one could just insert a small rubber stopper in between the tongue and it would shorten the sustain. it would be cheap and possibly the closest thing to a handpan that would never need tuning. cheers
